lloydk
I am playing 96/24 flac files using Decibel software on macbook pro connected to MF v-dac. When connected using usb i hear clicks in the audio. Playing the same file using optical miniplug to toslink, there are no clicks. Any ideas? Link to comment
Audio_ELF
Unless you have the newer V-DAC MkII the USB connection is very limited (non-asynchronous and 16/44.1-48 only). Any 24/96 files must therefore be downsampled (resampled) before they can be played. I would suggest with the V-DAC the optical connection would be better. Have you checked the settings in Audio Midi? Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
Matt00
I have a Mac BookPro (2011) and plan on getting the PS. Audio DacIII, BUT, how would you suggest I hook it up? Use "XtremeMac XtremeHD Toslink Audio Cable" or Cardas Clear Usb? Playing Flac with pure music software. Thanks, Matt Link to comment
theron_day
...and I found that the mini-toslink to DLIII sounded better than the USB connection when playing Apple Lossless files through iTunes.... IMO the USB connection sounded lifeless and very 2-D. The Toslink was noticeably better.... very open and natural sounding through the DLIII. Link to comment
