"Dolby Advanced Audio" ?

Could I get some info on what I am hearing thru (good) headphones, from a new HP laptop with Dolby Advanced Audio? Any info on frequency range, and what differences are involved vs. prior laptops--ie special sound card, etc?

I was curious about freq range on (1)Streaming music from MOG service (MP3 ?) and (2) CDs ripped to Itunes--Apple Lossless.
