Olive 4HD server ?

Recommended Posts

For audiophiles, the Olive is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I purchased an Olive 04 HD in 2012. I should have known something was amiss when they had a problem processing my credit card payment due to my shipping address being different than my billing address (a problem I have never encountered when ordering audio or computer equipment).

Started having problems following expiration of the warranty that included a faulty touchscreen interface, inability to successfully cold boot the server (without multiple (5 or more)) attempts followed by a failing motherboard rendering the unit, and all of my downloaded tracks inaccessible. Tech support can only be reached by e-mail so forget about calling and getting anyone on the phone. When I did get them, their solution was to sell me a new Olive One for less than they said they would charge to repair my 04 HD (which is no longer made by Olive). When I insisted on the repair I was told parts would not be available for about 2 months and that they would contact me when they came in. I am not counting on them to follow through with me and will shelve the system and go with SONY's newly released HAPZ1ES. Hopefully the sony's architecture proves more robust. The features of the HAPZ1ES are similar without the streaming capability which was WEAK on the Olive anyway, unless you purchased their "suite" of machines for multi-room use.

Stay clear of this company and if you have working equipment now, treat it with kid gloves as the architecture is very poor.
