Boss 2 player troubleshooting

I don’t have much expertise with raspberry pi devices, so I’m looking for some guidance. My Boss 2 player doesn’t seem to put out any sound. I’m using Moode, which indicates it’s playing, and the display on the front of the player seems to indicate that it is playing as well, but there is no sound output. 
I have swapped out cables and switched to a different preamp input,(which works with my CD player/DAC), but that didn’t change it.

I have also unplugged it and restarted it a couple of times with no success.

 

can anyone give me some troubleshooting suggestions please!
