Audio_ELF
The UK based manufacturer of "shoebox" audio (if you've seen their kit you'll know what I mean) have announced today their range of UPnP / DNLA streamers. http://cyrusaudio.com/news/breaking-news-cyrus-new-streaming-platform 3 models are available: 1. Streamline is an all-in-one device including 30w amplifiers. Pretty much identical device to the Naim UnitiQute (if you've seen that) 2. Stream XP is a streamer with digital inputs via [correction no USB and] SPDIF and built in preamplifier though as far as I can see no analogue input (very similar to Musical Fidelity's M1CliC). Just add a power amp and speakers. No information if the USB input is asynchronous. 3. Stream X (Cyrus says) drops the preamplifier functionality for those who have a DAC already. It still has SPDIF and USB inputs. All three support AIFF, FLAC and WAV (plus MP3, AAC and WMA) unto 24/96. Addition: the USB port is (as commented below) for portable storage device and also iPod connection. Eloise PS forgot to say Cyrus have also developed a controller combining IR for existing equipment with full colour two-way control of the Streamer Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
pasgod
The three Cyrus have a wired Ethernet connection and a wi-fi connection. The USB input is only for portable data storage devices. Link to comment
