Bluesmoke black box compared to other high end end servers

Has anyone compared high end servers to one another? What servers are comprable to the Bluesmoke black box in sound quality. Do servers have sonic signatures differences in a similar manner as other audio equipement, e.g. amps, d/a converters etc. How vunarble are servers to becoming obsolete in just a couple of years due to not being upgradable.
