Jeff In San Diego
I'm a newbie at this, so be gentle... Trying to learn about what's available for sources without buying a bunch of equipment (SACD drive - Blu ray audio drive - etc.). Are there any popular formats I've missed that can be easily ripped on a standard intel-iMac? For Jazz genre, are there any good stores for DVD-A discs? If I am limited to that one disc format for ripping, is there more/better source material out there at the same or better "rez" as downloads, and I just haven't found the right place to look for the downloads yet? thanks! New guy here - old guy elsewhere...Mac Mini - BitPerfect - USB - Schiit Bifrost DAC - shit cable - Musical Fidelity A3.5 - home-brew speakers designed to prioritize phase and time response (Accuton ceramic dome drivers and first-order crossovers) and a very cheaply but well corrected room...old head, old ears, conventionally connected to an old brain with outdated software. jcpom
I've been able to rip DVD-A per this: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/How-Rip-DVD-Audio-DVD-Video-Au... and play back rips using this (among others mentioned on this site): http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/New-OSX-Opensource-audiophile-... For downloads see (among other commercial sites): http://www.aixrecords.com/ http://www.2l.no/ https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php Now if only someone can point me in the right direction to rip my SACDs for personal use. dsnyder
Hello, There are a number of sources for high resolution content on the 'net, and more popping up every month. Here are a couple of links that I visit regularly to see what's out there: Auraliti's High Res Content page Cirlinca's Links page In addition, some manufacturers like Benchmark Media, offer promotional high resolution downloads as a way to promote their products. As I mentioned in another post, spending money with vendors who offer digital downloads is one way that we can help this market to grow and eventually to expand the selection of music available in DRM free formats. Cheers! -- David Link to comment
