redrockman
I AM A COMPUTER NOVICE SLOWLY LEARNING MORE AND MORE ABOUT COMPUTERS!!!! I am in the process of setting up a music server. How fast a system do I need to get to primarily use the server as a music bank and some surfing (the Macmini will be connected to a 50" PIONEER ELITE PLASMA monitor) and to an ARCAM rDAC via asynchronus USB--then to an ARCAM SOLO SYSTEM----as well as ARCAM's dongle wireless system to 2 other rDACs in the house(one Sugden amp and another Arcam amp).Do I need to upgrade memory to 8GB?(RAM). Any suggestions for additional storage device (ie 2or 4TB)--I have about 2000 cd's--iomega/WD?--another product I have come across is the GLYPH device which is pricier and supposedly more stable.I fancy the idea of SSD ext.- drives but they're way too expensive.I also plan to duplicate the ext.-drive as a backup to keep at my office. Also should the ext.-drive be a RAID drive with the spanning option-for speed and accuracy of info retrieval? Thanks for any suggestions REDROCKMAN PS:How would all this setup rigging compare with the simplicity of the OLIVE system and satellite players they advertise --they have some reasonable reviews on WHAT HIFI Link to comment
