BBC Radio3 "HD"

It appears that they are now streaming in 320 kbps. I would not know, because the "service is not avalable in your area". Moreons! Is the distance from UK to Belgium to much for www?

Anyway, what have we learned? That if your average internet radio is putting out 64 kbps, or in rare cases, 160 kbps, if you are using 320 kbps (still LOSSY compressed as we all know, exept for Django Reinhardt mono recordings from 1937), you are entitled to the "HD" sticker!

In Flanders we say something that translates as: "In the land of the blind, one-eye is king"

Still, would love to hear it. I just found out that DAB is also putting out only very low kbps figures (same as average internet radio), hence the digital sound. I am sticking with FM, then. Though, 320 kbps is not bad for radio?

BTW! Just received the 20CD Djangologie box! Been lusting for 6 months for it. Ripped them all to ALAC because I did not saw the benefit for AIFF in this case. Tracks are 500-600 kbps. I love this music. Just play and get on with it. This were 20LP's from 1970-1972, transferred to CD. Brilliant! Cost only about €50-ish from Amazon.de. Django Reinhardt was the Belgian born gypsy guitar king who was active in the thirties and fourties.

Today, Philip Catherine is our best Jazz Guitarist. Check him out, he is amazing. His music will make you totally "zen".

A bit harsh, One of the things about using the WWW is that they usually know where you are and the BBC has a host of rights issues to addressing audiences outside the UK.
