emcdade
The DAC8 DSD simply isn’t that sensitive to this stuff. Are you feeding the DAC8 DSD512 yet? If not, that will have a way bigger impact than either of these devices. Link to comment
emcdade
I am a subjectivist but there is way too much magical thinking in that thread. Getting a clean electrical signal to the T+A Dac is the only goal and it isn’t rocket science. I use the Matrix Audio usb card with the latest crystek clock and a linear power supply, and I suspect even that is overkill. Feed the DAC8 DSD512 with Roon’s Smooth minimum phase filter, it’s the best I’ve heard in my system and I’ve tried quite a few DACs. It actually makes a real difference. Link to comment
emcdade
I’m confused, are you saying you do or don’t have issues? Last I checked it wasn’t exactly a simple or easy process to get the firmware for Linux DSD support. For me the best sound was achieved with a DIY renderer running Windows so I think we mostly agree. Last time I popped in that thread it was using NUC’s with Linux but that is not an easy route for the T+A Dac. My only point is achieving DSD512 being fed all the time with no hiccups should be the primary goal as this will trump any “perceived” differences of OS, usb cable, LPSU, etc. Link to comment
emcdade
Gotcha, thanks! I’m enjoying my fuss-free Windows build for now but good to know this is finally coming to fruition. Link to comment
