iPhone app for media players

Can anyone advise their experience with iPhone apps for remote controlling players like Foobar, JRMedia player? I came across RiverMote for JRMedia but it sounds like it can only control playlist which is something I honestly never use.

 

I know JRMedia has its own remote but I am trying to cut down on cable and hardware.

Admittedly this is not personal experience, but hopefully give you a few pointers.

 

I know Chris (site owner) is a big fan of J.River Media Center and he has talked about using Plug Player on the iPhone (can also be used on the iPod Touch as can all iPhones apps) to control JRMC via UPnP.

 

Foobar (and Media Monkey for that matter) has a plug-in available so that it will respond to the "standard" Apple Remote Control application designed for iTunes and AppleTV.
