Just FYI:

While last year over 50 Brooklyn DAC owners bought our choke-filtered, dual-output, 5-7 amp linear power supply, there are now at least 3 people using this Mytek ADC with a JS-2.  And two of them are powering both the Brooklyn DAC and ADC from the supply--no sweat. B|

I really own the folks at Mytek a "thank-you" gift for including a DC jack on their units!

Superdad, do you know the actual DC requirements of the Brooklyn ADC? I know it has a 30 watt power supply, but how power hungry is it? If I wanted to run it off of an actual battery (for actual use recording in the field), what's the current draw?

I wouldn't think it's more than a portable mic preamp, especially a preamp that's supplying phantom power.

The Neve Portico 5012 portable preamp has these power requirements:
Voltage range: 9 to 18 Volts DC
Current consumption:
@ 9VDC Current is 1.3 A typical: Power = 11.7W
@ 12VDC Current is 1.0 A typical: Power = 12.0 watts
@ 15VDC Current is 800 mA typical: Power = 12.0 watts
@ 18VDC Current is 650 mA typical: Power = 11.7 watts

Looking at that, I wouldn't think the Mytek unit would need more current at 12v, especially comparing to the current draw of the older Stereo 192 ADC, which has a fairly low current draw. But I don't know. Can you help? Does the Brooklyn really need a ton of current?

I simply don't get this product.  It's not a Pro audio device, and even for home studio use, a single analogue stereo input?

Does anyone still mix in analogue these days to produce an analogue master?

Why isn't it a pro audio device? It's on Mytek's page as a pro audio device. They claim it's their best ever 2 channel ADC.

I still use a Stereo 192 ADC from 2005...
