2string1
I had a sales person from The Cable Co. tell me S/pdif was better for redbook recordings. What is the best connection for listening to redbook files with the Vega and Aries? USB or S/pdif Link to comment
jwr
I had a sales person from The Cable Co. tell me S/pdif was better for redbook recordings. I agree (assuming, of course, USB and S/PDIF cables of equal quality). In my opinion, it's better for PCM files in general. (Disclaimer: I'm an authorized AURALiC dealer.) scan80269
Driving Vega with an Aries S/PDIF (coax, AES or Toslink optical) output should result in virtually no audio dropouts, even in Exact clock mode and switching sampling frequencies by playing different content. I'm currently using a Lifatec Silflex multi-strand glass Toslink cable, with excellent results for redbook and high-res (up to 24/192) content. Link to comment
2string1
Off topic...Will an Ipad Air 2 be sufficient to control the Aries? Does the battery stay charged for some time or do you keep it plugged in the charger when in use. Link to comment
dr.sah
yes, iPad air 2 is enough. Link to comment
2string1
I will be using it for the Aries only. Is 16GB enough? Link to comment

The Air 2 is the newest model (if we disregard the Pro for a moment), so I'm not sure what you mean by your first question. Link to comment
