JRiver on NAS - Lets make it happen!

I installed it yesterday. Sounds good. But not as good as my desktop rig. Please don't ask me why!

 

The internet radio doesn't work because weblinks are not supported.

 

But it's a really good first version. Jremote works great with it as well

Seems to be a fully featured version too. Except for the loss of all http and web content!

The USB Output was the holy grail I was looking for but sorry buddy. It doesn't work that way on qnap. The qnap JRMC plays on your TV through the HD station HDMI interface not on your headless NAS. Same as Spotify.

 

So your sound output options are hdmi, 3.5mm jack or DLNA to your speakers. DLNA is best

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think USB audio from qnap NAS is only possible using their proprietary musicstation app.

Sorry I was actually wrong. Under HD station settings you can change the audio output from hdmi to USB. Once you do this, JRMC plays through USB successfully. I just tried it now!

I actually don't have a jriver licence for my qnap install. But it reminds me every time with a popup saying I have only a 1 month trial which will expire soon. To be honest, I haven't done any critical listening with USB vs DLNA yet. I'm just glad it works since USB is a more stable connection than DLNA over wifi (which I'm using)

 

Also correct me if I'm wrong... I'm not sure JRMC dsp studio works over DLNA
