2string1
I have had Firmware Version 3.3 for a long time. I think? Is there a newer version. How do I download the new version? Link to comment
2string1
Well I guess it did. I never saw it update. Link to comment
2string1
Is it safe to do this or should I wait? Link to comment
2string1
What happens if they find bugs in the 4.0V do you have to redownload. I've never tried a Beta version with anything. How long do you think it will take for it to be available for everyone? Link to comment
2string1
Well if I don't ask I'll never no. You had to learn some how. I'll wait... Link to comment
2string1
No problem.. Like I said I'll wait...Thanks Link to comment
2string1
Off subject, can someone tell me the best output to use with the Aries into the Vega. I was under the impression it is the USB. Link to comment
2string1
I emailed Auralic. They told me USB. I was thinking AES also. Link to comment
2string1
I'm using AES to to my Metrum Pavane. Works like a dream. Though, if you are planning to stream DSD to your Vega, you will have to use USB. I don't plan on DSD. Will AES be better then USB for Redbook,Tidal or is there no difference? Link to comment
2string1
Thanks...I'm using the Curious USB cable. I'll just stay with that... Link to comment
2string1
I am upsampling to PCM192.Conversion to DSD changes the character of the sound too much - not to my liking. Stupid question...How do you take a redbook recording 16-44 and upsample it to 192? Link to comment
2string1
Stupid question...How do you take a redbook recording 16-44 and upsample it to 192? Can someone answer this question in layman terms? Aries into Vega Link to comment
2string1
So even though the Vega upsamples, it has to be first upsample at the Aries? One more thing, any idea when V.4 will be available to all? Link to comment
2string1
What is Optically-isolated ethernet? Link to comment
2string1
So what is needed to obtain Galvanic isolation. Link please... Link to comment
2string1
Aries into a Vega dac via USB is recommended by Wang. Link to comment
2string1
If you have'nt tried 3-wire unshielded USB cables (with GND on a distance from data wires to reduce capasitive coupling) with SBooster Vbus2 both before and after the USB Regen powered by battery supply (disconnected to mains) plus externally grounding the BPS you do not quite know what USB audio is capable of! My personal 2 cents! The Aries and Vega does not need a ground on the USB cable.. It is done internally... I have a Curious cable with no ground leg. Link to comment
2string1
you're sure it's the ground wire your cable is missing?I've always been told USB doesn't work at all without the ground wire now... the vBus wire is a different matter: in fact I'm using a *no* vBus wire cable between the Aries and Regen My mistake...It doesn't need the 5v leg... 2string1
What are the two USB ports on the Aries for? One says DAC and the other USB. Link to comment
2string1
One connects out to your DAC, the other connects to a hard disk drive and operates like a NAS. So do you go out the DAC port to a DAC? does it really make a difference which you use. Link to comment
2string1
Thanks... A lot of people say AES is the way to go. Why did Wang tell me USB is the best sounding into my Vega? Link to comment
2string1
Aaah....the potential pitfalls of the quest to "improve" the SQ of a playback system. Great recordings sound even better and lesser recordings sound worse. 4.0.6 sounds good to me on my setup but I hope they don't go too much further with getting a cleaner sound. I can imagine that I might not be as impressed if I still owned a couple of previous DACS that exhibited a certain amount of digital glare compared to what I have now. The endless pursuit of cleaner sound is a double edged sword, it's great if your music library consists mainly of audiophile jazz recordings etc. but if you're a big fan of say....70's & 80's rock & popular music then there is definitely a case for a bit of "colour" being a good thing, particularly with some of that typical 80's edgy & thin mastering. Assuming that most people's music collections would be quite varied, I think there is a good case for getting to a point of "good enough". Maybe there is a case for being able to choose your software version based on your setup and library? I agree with all of this... Link to comment
2string1
Not knowing what the hell I'm talking about, but maybe you people should concentrate on an amp or speakers vs Wyred Recovery or the Regen and microRendu! I'm perfectly happy with my music from a thumb drive or Tidal into my Aries out to my Vega into my Fisher X202 out to my JBL Apollo C51's... Too many Regen's for sale. Why? Link to comment
