Blueline
Is there anybody who tried AO 2.0 on mac mini? I'm curious about the improvements in sound if there is any. Phil, my dac is Schiit Gungnir and it uses wasapi(if I don't remember the name wrong). I can not use it on core-mode. Is there any support for wasapi on core-mode in this version? Hello Can you not use the ASIO driver? http://schiit.com/public/upload/drivers/schiit_asio_1_01.zip Link to comment
Blueline
I tried to install that asio driver but I couldn't because the driver installer don't support win2012 server r2. Maybe there is a way to install but I couldn't get it. I also tried to setup my mac mini to work with core-mode once and I don't know why but everything gone bad and I had to format everything from the beginning. I'm afraid to try it again, it's very time consuming for a person like me to do that because I'm not a windows user for years and I also love it sooo much Hello Open the folder and try the setup file inside the folder Windows Server 2012r2 use WIN8.1 Link to comment
Blueline
I'll try that in my first free day. Thanks for the advice. I hope I won't need to reinstall everything from the beginning again. I really want to hear the music from core-mode... I myself have the same problem with some drivers I have. I install drivers this way Link to comment
Blueline
This I have copied from the manual ”First of all, update your BIOS to the latest version available.” Is it necessary to update Bios often. Haakon Link to comment
Blueline
Hi no, not needed very often. But its a good point to do it before you set up a computer. mostly vendors stop delivering new BIOS's as fast as possible, meaning only fee months after a mainboard was released. So you definitely won't have to update it "all the time". best, phil I opdated bios before i install AO first time. Here is a brief overview, what has been updated since I updated. Enhance compatibility with some M.2 device: I dont use this M.2 slot Support NVMe: I dont use this M.2 slot Fix card reader KCR-318 hang POST issue: irrelevant Implement 5th-Generation Intel Core Processors code: my CPU is Haswell Enhance the compatibility with some CPU Fans: No fans at all Support ASUS USB 3.1 PCIE add-on card: I dont need Support new CPUs: my cpu is compatible Enhance compatibility with Broadwell CPU: my CPU is Haswell Best regards Haakon Link to comment
Blueline
I also use Schiit Gungnir Dac and I can't success on installing asio driver. I want to try installing it again because I want to listen in core-mode. When I open the cmedia zip file for asio driver, there are sub directories like win7, win8, win8.1 and I really don't know which sub directory should I choose to install the right driver for Win 2012 server R2 on a mac mini. The only thing I know is that you should use setup file inside Win 8.1 directory to install. Windows Server 2012r2 = Windows 8.1 driver Link to comment
Blueline
Thank you. There are sub directories to choose and I think I should try the ones under win8.1 folder Write here on the forum, if you get installed Asio driver or not. Link to comment
Blueline
Hi Should I uninstall Old Jriver after JRiver 22 is installed, I use Win Server 2012r2 in Core. Thought to test JRiver 22 before I uninstalled old JRiver, but I will not risk that both will be activated during startup. Link to comment
Blueline
Hi Is it possible to create boot menu in core Instead of starting in for example JRiver, it will bring up a menu. Option 1: JRiver (or whatever you have chosen in advance) Option 2: Tidal If you want to choose again, you have to make a restart. If you not choose something shortly, starting options 1 automatically. Link to comment

Blueline
...I forgot... Updating is very easy, you do not even need to do a reset via ServiceTool! It is certainly easy, for those who have learned it. I can not procedure, then it's probably quicker to go to back to the GUI mode and update. Link to comment

It's not the RAM I'm asking for. but Disk size, i have 128GB on my Server 2012r2 The question is whether the 32GB SSD is big enough for the upgrade system Win 2016 Core AO Sotm driver Dac Driver JRiver 24 fidelizer (optional) if space on disk Link to comment

I'd spend saved $$ from small disk size (32GB) on high quality SSD (SLC comes to mind). My two cents.
