Album artwork and XLD file format

I'm not sure whether you mean the artwork doesn't display in the Pioneer app or it doesn't display in XLD's single-file mode. If the former, then check whether every FLAC in a problem folder does display artwork in XLD. Do that by dragging the folder onto the XLD app icon, or by using the Open command, so that you can step through the tracks one at a time instead of using the "as a disc" interface. But first be sure to have enabled 'Edit tags before convert' in Metadata preferences or you won't get a chance to see anything. What's the result?

Please post a screenshot of an error report.

Hiya,

Good tip for checking the artwork thank you.

Here is the error screenshot. XLD encodes right to the end and then drops this...

I can think of several possible reasons for XLD deciding to do that, but I'd be guessing which, if any of them, is the actual problem. For example, XLD may be in error rather than the file being corrupt, or the audio data itself may be intact but some other information such as the expected length of the decoded audio could slightly differ from the actual length, making XLD decide to abort the transfer.

Earlier, you said that such ALACs play ok in iTunes, so I suggest you use iTunes to export a new ALAC from one of the problem ones, then try converting the new one to FLAC with XLD. The choice of export format in iTunes is counter-intuitively in the 'Import Settings...' of General Preferences. After you choose Apple Lossless there, right-click a track and pick 'Create Apple Lossless Version'.

Check where XLD is saving that file in the Preferences.

I recently saw this, was stumped when iTunes managed the rip first time, and then found out somehow XLD had changed the directory where it was saving the rip from the one I set to my Audirvana RamDisk area, which is a measly 25Mb, so XLD was running out of space is what was happening.

So, check that, ensure you make it save in a directory which does have space (check that too), and try again.

Perfect! That worked, thank you. Where the hell did you learn all this stuff?!
