I installed Qobuz desktop app, Kodi/XBMC with Qobuz plugin, and LMS (Logitech Media Server) with Qobuz plugin on my macbook pro. Comparing these three methods for streaming Qobuz, I find the Kodi/XBMC with its Qobuz plugin gives the best sound quality out of the three. Just wondering whether anyone share the same experience on these three methods.

Long time lurker, first poster. I seek advice/opinion from any prepared to offer it. My system consists of: Music Server(s): e-Machines er1402 Net-top Music Server Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) Digital to Analog Converter(s): Audiolab 8000ap (via HDMI) Preamplifier: Audiolab 8000ap Amplifier(s): Musical Fidelity XAS100/Sure Electronics DIY 4X100 D class Loudspeakers: Spendor S6 (original front ported model) Interconnects: Ubranded HDMI Van Den Hul RCA DIY RCA Loudspeaker Cables: Tellurium Q Black-front QED silver- centre Unbranded 19strand OFC - rears Power Cables:Unbranded Remote Control(s): Philips Pronto (pretty much only used to control volume/input source on Audiolab) wireless mouse Android Phone/gmote (rarely if ever used) I'm either happy with, (or working on) everything 'downstream' of the Audiolab but I'm very weak on I.T. stuff so I'd like to ask how I can maximize output from the net-top. I'm very keen to keep most of the the functionality of the net-top. I use it for video and audio (HDMI) hooked up to a flat screen tv. I don't have much hi-rez music yet, but I plan to build a collection. Shamefully, most of my listening is done via Spotify, which I use to 'explore' music, which I then buy on cd to play on my Musical Fidelity X-Ray (optical TOSlink-Audiolab). I've discovered that despite the low rez, I really love Spotify as I love listening to stuff which is new to me. I pay for premium spotify and have spent months building up playlists so I'm not really considering MOG as it would be a huge pain to re-create my lists (or would it?). God I wish Spotify would offer a proper high rez option!. Physical media holds no real attraction for me, quality and choice are everything (not necessarily in that order!). I'm assuming that software or power supply changes are all I can do to maximise quality?. Where should I look for replacement power supply's?. Is it possible (and worthwhile?) to disable the wi-fi in the net-top? (I have ethernet). I've read that windows doesn't make the best of audio, but I really can't get my head round Linux etc, so I'd like to do what I can to make the best of Windows. I currently use (and quite like)XBMC for video, and I'm trying to get used to MediaMonkey for audio (can't say I particularly like the interface so far, but early days yet), but could I make better choices?. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy question and thanks to anyone prepared to advise!.

Hi, I have an issue with my media center, a Mac Mini used with my HiFi system. I'm using my Mac Mini, version 2010, the first aluminum, running on OS X 10.6 (aka Snow Leopard) to run XBMC, in its latest version, EDEN. Initially, as my preamplifier (Atoll PR300) doesn't have any digital input, i was sending first image & sound to my LCD (Loewe Individual 40 Selection DR +), using HDMI cable, and second sound to my preamplifier using the LCD RCA output. Pure happiness. A few months ago I acquired a DAC, the same brand (DAC200 Atoll). This DAC has the following connectors: - 3 optical digital inputs and three coaxial digital inputs independent. - 1 USB (Type B) - 1 RCA analog - 1 optical digital output and a coaxial digital output with reformatting data in both directions: Coaxial optics and coaxial optics. The idea is to take advantage of the digital to analog conversion DAC instead of the Mac mini, software against hardware, mainly using USB with a Wireworld Ultraviolet. Unfortunately for me I noticed some cracklings, initially on playback but since few days it's also on XBMC sounds. I've checked the XBMC settings, of course stereo is selected in the system settings, even on movies & TV shows settings and XBMC recognizes the USB driver Atoll as OS X does. I've tested two DAC, two brand new, I've tested in 10.6 and 10.7 with clean install, also with a clean install XBMC without any results. For several weeks I try my luck with the XBMC dev team, if this is a bug or an incorrect setting, it seems from these last that the level of OS X that it crashes. here is the actual situation on XBMC forum : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=128181 The actual log shoes the following issue : 14:26:44 T:2965811200 ERROR: CCoreAudioRenderer::InitializePCM: The selected device (ATOLL USB Audio 2.0) does not have a speaker layout configured. Using the default layout. 14:26:44 T:2965811200 ERROR: CCoreAudioRenderer::InitializePCM: Please go to Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup, and select 'Configure Speakers...' I don't know what to change in the parameters : Hope someone can help me Thanks Nemrod

Can you help me decide which sound card to purchase (which will help determine the receiver I purchase)? I'm about to buy all new audio components and I want to make sure I buy the right receiver for my HTPC system; but I need to get media from the PC to this new, unpurchased system effectively. So my question - which sound card(s) can send two digital zones (preferably optical) to my receiver? The least expensive option w/o compromising data quality would be great. DAC will be in receiver. My system HTPC - XBMC Gotham Two speaker zones - 5.1 + 10 pair around the house (all wired). To be purchased - 5.1 speakers, 10 pair speakers, receiver with two optical inputs (similar to Denon AVR-X3000)...and sound card(s) Receiver will be 7.1. It'll run 5.1 for TV, then another channel for the 10 pair I'd love to know your receiver recommendations once I know how to best get the data off my PC. Thanks, -R
