For the first time after the arrival of Compact Disc and the assumed demise of vinyl records, an analogue product re-emerged in the “mass market” – something all music lovers could afford. The new DEBUT Carbon DC has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade – perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables is growing again! The most obvious improvement is the inclusion of a CARBON TUBE for the tonearm, which increases stiffness and decreases unwanted resonance. This material normally is extensively used in high-end tonearms, but – because of cost reasons – was never used in products at lower price levels. Together with other improvements like an increase in platter size and weight to realize even smoother rotation, the overall sound quality is greatly improved. The approved belt drive design offers low noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling (utilizing TPE-damping) and ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator (like Speed Box) for ultimate speed stability without unwanted vibration. Pro-ject Phono Box S - Value-based audiophile MM/MC phono stage with adjustable cartridge loading ($199) In order to play a turntable trough any speakers or stereo system, a phono preamplifier is needed. The Pro-Ject Phono Box S is an audiophile grade phono stage featuring dual-mono circuit topology, high-grade component parts and precise RIAA equalization. Four adjustable gain levels, input impedance and capacitance settings are available to best match your phono cartridge for performance optimization. A switchable subsonic filter eliminates rumble below 20 Hz. High-quality parts and adjustment flexibility give the Phono Box S true class-leading performance. An outboard power supply is included. 2. This is an IEM that sounds about as good, or in some cases better, than the better IEM's that I've owned, from the RHA T20i to the Sennheiser IE800 to the Final Audio FI-BA-SS. The fact that it's Bluetooth (Qualcomm aptX) is quite a plus, although for absolute fidelity of high resolution tracks, the aptX Bluetooth rules apply. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/community/threads/v-moda-forza-metallo-wireless-bluetooth-in-ear-iem-earphone-review.4444/
  3. The Studio3 was sitting there at the Apple Store, looking very tempting in its impressive "special edition" packaging, and I even got a 5-minute listen to the demo unit using my own iPhone. The demo sounded kinda thick - even a bit muffled, but the extra sweetening they added on the high end made it listenable. I've had a few Bluetooth headphones now, but not a Beats wireless, so I was curious what the potential of this headphone might be for quality listening, given that I'd re-tune it a little with my equalizer. The conclusions are in the review text, but one thing I can say up front is that while they get the middle frequencies about right through their ANC-plus-Bluetooth codecs, the extreme lows seem to have excess distortion. The extreme highs fare better, but I can't judge how much negative impact the DSP's have on those highs versus how much quality if any is lost in the basic design. One issue that popped into my head while writing this review is the so-called Loudness Wars. I wonder if the trend in many new headphones to have a recessed lower treble is actually compensation for the Loudness effect, to push the strong forward voices more to the background. Pure speculation there.... http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/community/threads/beats-studio-3-wireless-bluetooth-headphone-review.4516/
  4. Hey guys, im new to this thread, thinking of buying KEF X300A for my desktop setup as i saw lot of good reviews about its SQ, my doubt is, In most of the user reviews on Amazon.co.uk, amazon.com and amazon.de i see lot of users mentioning that the speaker is dead in 1.5 years to 2 years (in reviews posted from late 2016), can anybody help me on knowing its reliability ?
  5. I have the Tidal app running on my macbook pro retina but can't figure out how to send it to my Oppo BDP 105. I have JRiver and use it to wirelessly send my music file to the Oppo so I am set up for wireless connection to my Oppo. Just don't know how to get mac to send to Oppo without JRiver. Sorry for the dumb question. This computer audio revolution sure is making me feel like an old man!
  6. Hi there. I've got a sound system already set up (i'll describe it later) and I want to add to it. I want to add speakers that would be connected wireless to the main setup and then placed in my bathroom. I rent, so I can't be running cables through the walls to speakers I would have embedded into the bathroom walls. I want to place speakers on a shelf next to a power outlet and have them get their feed from the main system located in my living room. I don't know the best way to get the feed from my system to the bathroom speakers, also I would like suggestions about what speakers would best suite my bathroom. Here i'll describe my setup. There are two devices currently that produce sound. One is an entertainment PC, and my XBox 360. Both have their audio outputs connected to my TV. This way I can use the one remote to control the output volume of either device. My TV is a Vizio VO320E. My TV then sends its audio to a 4 channel mixer via RCA audio output. The Mixer is a Eurorack UB802. I use this mixer so that I can plug in other devices on the fly if I so choose (ipod, droid bionic, guitars, etc...) as well as play with the EQ on the fly. The main out from the mixer is then sent to my Pioneer amp (VSX-D209) and then to my Fisher STV-9238 speakers and Panasonic SB-WA54 sub woofer. The entrance to the bathroom is located about 15ft from the mixer. The bathroom isn't terribly large and has no sound deadening really, so there is a bit of reverb generated by the bathroom itself. Ideally I'd like to have the hypothetical bathroom speakers get their feed from either the mixer or Pioneer amp. If we can keep it on the cheap that'd be ideal, but suggestions geared towards optimum quality would also do nicely. Hopefully someone has thought of a scenario like this or has dealt with a similar dilemma as well. Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to hearing your brainstorming. Panopticon36
  7. To get computer audio from my MacBook iTunes to my hifi system I've been using an Airport Express into the DAC on a preamp, which also had a USB input if I wanted a better sound. I now have a Cary Audio SACD 306 pro which apparently has a pretty good built in DAC. Problem for me is that it only has toslink, coaxial or AES/EBU input jacks. Don't think I can go from the Airport Express to these inputs, not sure the quality is that great anyway with Airport, jitter? Is there a simple solution that would allow me to stream over my wifi or connect a USB cable from my MacBook Pro to the Cary DAC? It doesn't seem wise to add yet another DAC in the chain if connecting to the Cary SACD and I don't have budget to purchase a new DAC that would be comparable to the Cary's and handle streaming (would like to keep under $1k). Hoping for a simple solution that provides good audio quality. Thanks for the help.
  8. My first wireless headphone that worked well. Perfectly in fact. Add to that the sound is essentially the same wired or wireless. And the sound is mighty good. V-MODA Wireless Around-Ear Bluetooth Stereo Headphone review | Headphones Hangout Forum
  9. So I'm equal parts gamer and guitarist and I was blown away a couple years ago when I stopped using typical gaming headsets and got a pair of Sennheiser PC 360s. They were my first set of semi-audiophile headphones and it was like I was able to hear for the first time (even with on-board sound). Now I'm addicted and looking for something even possibly better since those have taken a beating, but I kind of really want something wireless for my current situation (that's probably a no-no for audiophiles, I don't know). I do own a Blue Yeti so it can just be a pair of headphones, maybe later if antlion makes a wireless mod mic I can get one of those too. I really don't want to over-compromise on audio and from what I've looked at the Senny RS 120s seem too low end / uncomfy long term. I'm pretty torn on open vs closed back although for music & comfort I lean towards open, it can be annoying for my girlfriend though. The Senny RS 170s would be perfect at their price point if they were open but they're not and the 180s are pushing it on price and I hear they do leak a ton of sound. Anyone aware of something similar to the 170s that have that Sennheiser clarity? As a guitarist I love me some beefy mid-tones so there is room for improvement probably I don't have experience with other brands yet. I'm not a fan of over-bearing bass (which I often find in cheaper closed backs, like turtle beach headsets and similar garbage) but I do like it to have a tight presence. Something open-back that isn't TOO open back would be preferable. Probably grasping at straws with my budget, may have to save for awhile and just endure the torture (had to send my 360s into square trade and they're reimbursing me so I have nothing right now, feels like I'm wandering thirsty through an audio desert).
  10. Who have you all worked with who can help advise putting together the digital components of a mid-priced system (I have the analog side taken care of.) Someone who is knowledgable and ethical. Looking to put together a few zone wireless Roon system (currently using Roon Core on an iMac over Airplay to a few endpoints via Airport Express) Thanks.
  11. Hey guys, I'm new here and to the audiophile scene so I have some questions. There's just so much information out there and I'm just having a hard time navigating it all to find the answer I'm looking for. I recently purchased some M-Audio BX8 Studio Monitors and along with it a Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface, which hooks up to the monitors and converts my digital music to analog (right?) I play all of my music from my laptop but that requires a usb connection from my audio interface to my computer. My question is: is it possible to buy some sort of wireless device to plug into my audio interface so that I can stream lossless music wirelessly from my computer to the device through my audio interface to my speakers? For example, I've been Googling and stumbled onto these: Aperion Audio's Wireless, Lossless Music System - "HAL" One, for these I would need a female usb connector to connect it to my audio interface, which it apparently doesn't have and two, it seems excessive to have something plugged into your computer AND audio interface to stream lossless music. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it! Andres
  12. Is there a reasonably priced option to hook your NAS directly up to a wireless streaming solution without effecting sound quality? I would like to control the music still through a laptop, possibly an ipad too. I have a Line Magnetic DAC in the mix as well but am either getting too old for cables running across my living room or just not wanting to pay $550 for 4 meters of blue heaven usb cable. Yikes maybe it's both! Any thoughts or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi all, I'm using the JRiver Media Center for my music library. I have a solid wireless network. I have a decent (for my budget) Denon receiver (non-AV) and some very nice old GNP Valkyrie speakers. My problem has been finding a quality wireless music player to connect the JRiver streaming to my stereo. My budget is in the under $300 range ideally. My stereo is connected to my TV as well. I've considered trying the WD Live+ player but I doubt the sound quality will be anything decent, does anyone have any experience with that one? I do own ROKU 2 and an AppleTV box but as I said I chose JRiver for my server and I do not want to use ITunes so as I understand it neither of these will do anything for me (and again I doubt the sound quality is good). I could reconsider if I really can't find anything comparable or easily navigated on the receiver side. I have also considered getting a Yamaha RX-V671 networked AV Receiver or the similar Denon AVR-1912 AV Receiver because my current setup does not have HDMI into the receiver (it's not an AV reciever) but not sure it would be worth shelling out $400... or what quality and ease of use I'd get for my money. So again, I'm primarily looking for a network music player that will work with JRiver, provide decent enough sound quality to match my system, and not bust my budget (~$300 range). It would be nice if it had a good interface, and I do have my TV connected as far as having a screen for the UI. I'd welcome any suggestions you might have. I've searched the web looking for a solid choice and so far it hasn't yielded anything at all clear. The ROKU Soundbridge sounded promising but it appears to be defunct. Thanks!
  14. I am considering getting this neat little device from Synology, called a USB Station 2 (Google it) - so that I can stream music from my PC wirelessly (the USB Station 2 does wireless if you add a wireless USB dongle), direct to the USB Station 2 then out to my async USB DAC (connected of course via the USB Station 2). I can see from the instructions that you need to install the Synology software on the source PC, and the USB Station supports connectivity to DLNA devices (i.e. media players from PC's, except that Spotify is not a media player). I was considering installing Logitech Media Server (LMS) which would serve as my DLNA compliant software, then installing the Spotify plugin for LMS - but there maybe other options and this might not work with Synology. Thanks for your help.
  15. I get confused more than I like to admit and with that I mix and match details. So my questions: - using iTunes AirPlay connected to an airport express and a Schiit Bifrost via a toslink cable, are my 24/96 HD lossless-converted files playing as 24/96? I know I can't play 24/96 directed from the computer to a dac but are the files being sent to the express bit perfect?
  16. Hi there Audiophile users. I am looking into purchasing a new audio setup for my gaming PC, for both music and games. I am not great with what is available on the market today and so I could use some help. I have been lurking around different review sites, but I can't for the love of my life, figure out what I should chose and so I really would like your help. I have some few requirements: I would like it to be wireless. I know wireless often mean a decrease sound quality, but I have so far lost so many headphones due to wires getting tangled in my office chair. Optionally I wouldn't mind if it also had an integrated microphone, though I might purchase a separate microphone. So far I have heard that headphones using USB provide with the best audio, though I might be wrong in this assumption. Along with this headphone I am also planning on purchasing a sound card that can perform binaural reproduction (No 7.1 headphones). My budget is around 300$-750$ (270€-530€) These are my requirements. Feel free to bring your own experiences and subjective opinions of headphones and soundcards. I am eager to hear what you guys might suggest. Pleas ask if I should provide additional information.
  17. Hi all! First post here, so nice to meet you all My dilemma is the following: I've a pair of Bose QC25 that I use for everything: phone, music listening, gaming, isolate myself from the outside world.. Everything. I was wondering, is there a way to make them wireless and keep a decent quality? I recently bought this: Sony SH20 which is a bluetooth device where you can plug any headphone you want, but the quality is awful! Any suggestion on how to sort it out? Anyone with the same (solved) problem I'd possibly need something that has a mic, or, even better, use the bose's mic! Thanks a lot! Lollo
  18. Hello! I am about to purchase a Steelseries H Wireless Headset but I noticed I do not have a Optical connection on my PC nor my sound card. The Headset allows Analog and Optical and a USB connection for the microphone as I've read. Analog as I've searched around the web reduces quality and doesn't allow 7.1 surround to work. My sound card supports 5.1/7.1 surround but has 5 different colored connections at the back and a "screen DVI" looking connection as well. My question is: Can I connection the optical cable from the headset to my sound card or any 3.5mm jack on my PC with a adapter that doesn't require a power source for the same quality. Will it work?
