Hello to everyone, I would like to share my issue using a MacMini late 2012 (updated to last Sierra) and a HRT Music Streamer III. I have preset my output sample rate to 44.1 kHz 16 bit 2 ch in the Audio MIDI Utility. When I turn the Mac on, the led on the streamer is on Mute. When I start playing music (with iTunes) the minimum sample rate led lights up. ONLY IF I disconnect and reconnect the USB cable (even before playing music), the correct (preset) sample rate led lights up. From now on, any change I make in the the Audio MIDI output has an impact on the streamer (the associated led lights up). Even if I restarted the Mac, the behavior keeps normal. The problem occurs if I turn the Mac off, then on. I made several test on a PC, and the Streamer seems to work well. I have also tried plugging the Streamer to different USB ports. After several correspondence with HRT support center, Kevin Halverson states this should almost certainly be a corrupted OSX. Did you have any similar experience? Thanks a lot Gabriele

Hi, does anyone have any experience in connection a Mac Powerbook with Mac OS Sierra (latest version 10.12.4) to a TAD-D1000MK2 through USB? According to the user manual (which seem a bit dated since only Mac OS 10.8, 10.7 and 10.6 are mentioned...), the needed software drivers should be downloaded/installed automatically when connecting the Mac to the DAC, but nothing happens and I can't see the DAC as a selectable Audio Output device in the sound system preferences. Any ideas?

Now, I’m not going to do this anytime soon, but I need to upgrade my main computer to macOS Sierra. That is the computer with my master iTunes collection. A long story short, but it is still on Mavericks. NO, I thought Mavericks was OK, but I didn’t really like Yosemite. When I finally had the time to upgrade this particular machine to El Capitan, the boot installer I created was made with an El Capitan installer that had the expired certificates. So, that was a no go. I do like Sierra enough to make the jump. As I generally do a clean install, the only thing that worries me when upgrading this machine is iTunes. This OS X Mavericks computer is still on either iTunes 11, 12.1 or 12.2. (This computer is in another location.) From reading Kirk’s various columns, posts, and listening to his podcasts, I never got around to loving the latest versions of iTunes, but now I am ready to make the jump with 12.5. I have never used iTunes in the Cloud or Apple Music. And I mostly rip my own CDs. I never allow iTunes (or any other app) to download cover art. (I save the covers I use to a folder.) My question is “How do I make the jump?” I am gathering that if I do a clean install, I will automatically upgrade to 12.5. Or should I firstly, upgrade iTunes on the Mavericks machine to 12.5. Secondly, move the iTunes folder to an external drive and upgrade to macOS Sierra. Then, move the iTunes folder on the external drive to the newly blessed, clean computer? Actually, I want to prevent macOS Sierra and iTunes from establishing any setting that allows it to download artwork or any other thing. I just want to upgrade — not have iTunes force any additions, changes or substitutions. (Yes, I read some posts on the Kirk’s iTunes Forum about downgrading iTunes, but I’m trying to avoid that!) Some time around iTunes 12.5.0.61, in August, I noticed that I could no longer see my compilations. After doing some searching, I did see that they were still there. I could see them in ‘Recently Added,’ but not in the ‘Albums’ view. They finally appeared in ‘Albums’ after the second golden master of Sierra. With the computer I am using to test with, I only have a few compilations out of 71 albums. Any ideas, much appreciated! @kirk, I know you always write that you test the various versions of iTunes on a computer that does not house your main body of iTunes. Which version of iTunes holds your master iTunes collection? (If you don’t mind enlightening us.)

I've used the iTunes artwork screensaver on my Macs of years and I think it's great, except I've had the same couple of dozen album covers for a looooong time now. How can I have it fetch more? I assume it caches a certain amount of jpegs, but I don't see a way to refresh. Maybe there's a cache file somewhere, or a folder that I don't know about. Any ideas?
