  1. Hello everybody, At the end of the year I would like to buy Studio Monitors. I prefer Genelec or Neumann, but that's not the topic here. Currently I have a pair of Edifier 1280T connected to a Dell U2414H. From there my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) is connected via Displayport and my Xbox One S via HDMI. My intention is this: I'm looking for an Interface/DAC that allows me to run both my Xbox One S and my MacBook. The Xbox One has an S/PDIF optical output. So far I have found the following products: Audient iD22 Cambridge Audio DACMagic Plus First I want to run a 2.0 system, later adding a subwoofer. Maybe someone here knows another insider tip! In terms of price, it should be around the Audient iD22. I am sorry for my English (living in Germany) Greetings SporeTinte049
  2. Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of upgrading my sound system for my computer and at the moment I have narrowed it down too either Aktimate Mini+ or Audioengine A5+. Happy to spend around $500 give or take a bit. I am tending heavily towards the Aktimate Mini+ but have some concerns. From all reports, I understand the Aktimate speakers to be superior in terms of sound quality, but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this? I will be using these pretty much only for music but an odd movie here and there may be thrown in. Depending on what im doing, what im listening to varies a lot. Dubstep/electronic stuff when I'm studying, classic rock/heavy metal when Im relaxing along with various other stuff like muse, queens of the stone age, the white stripes etc etc along with some other alternative music as well. I will probably want to add a sub later on down the track (particularly for the dubstep), are there good subs that can be coupled with the Aktimate? Also is there anyway I could mount the Aktimates on a wall, I know the AE5+ FAQ suggests several wall mounts that might be appropriate, could these work with the Aktimate as well? So any advice? Ideally everyone will just reassure me that the Aktimates are worth it and will pretty much suit my purposes lol. (I just need that last little push to bite the bullet and buy the thing haha). So....thoughts? Extra Info: I should point out that I have a Xonar Essence STX card in my comp too. The room in reasonably small (3.5x5.4m and 2,4m ish high) half of which is a kitchen which is divided off my a waist high counter bench and has thin walls and big windows . Where I sit, my head is only 0.8m away from the wall and all that space is taken up by computer monitors so Im hoping to mount them on the wall and angle them down at me. (they will have to sit at least 0.3m above ear level due to the computer monitors etc if I wall mount.)
  3. Ok, I have tried everything I can and researched every possible site and article...so frustrated I have a ASUS desktop PC. 32" Samsung TV as my monitor, connected with HDMI to my PC. All audio works just fine. However, when I plug in my 2nd 32" TV (as a 2nd monitor) using DVI (out from PC) to HDMI (input on TV) my audio immediately stops working. There are no adapters, it is just a straight cable, DVI on one side and HDMI on the other. When I right click on my sound icon in the taskbar and select "playback devices" it shows "Samsung, high definition audio device, default device"..... and when I plug the 2nd cable (DVI/HDMI) it automatically switched to that as the default...and DVI doesn't support audio... so how to I make it stay on my Samsung (HDMI/HDMI) so that I can have 2 monitors and sound????
  4. Greetings. I'll soon be needing XLR cables to connect an Emotiva DC-1 dac/preamp to a pair of powered monitors. 20' ought'a do. Any advise?
  5. Hello, I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. I need your help though. I'm going to use the setup with my computer, but also with a PS4/TV combo. I'm not looking for top of the line audio, as I don't have infinite funds to spend on the system, but I want it to be a noticeable upgrade from my Logitech 2.1 computer speakers. These are what I have picked out right now: KRK RP8G2 Amazon.com: KRK RP8G2 Rokit G2 8In Powered Studio Monitor, Single Monitor: Musical Instruments Onkyo TX-SR313 Amazon.com: Onkyo TX-SR313 5.1-Channel Home Theater A/V Receiver(Black): Electronics BIC America F12 Amazon.com: BIC America F12 12-Inch 475-Watt Front Firing Powered Subwoofer: Electronics The realm of receivers is unknown to me, and I don't know if the 65w output would be adequate for the monitors, but I know it needs to have HDMI so I can connect it to my television and PS4. About the KRK's I've read that they are only good if you are 5 feet from them, which would be a problem if I wanted to sit back and relax on the couch while playing PS4. But they are 150 bucks now because of the new model that're out now. Now, the sub I found in some other forum saying it was the best bang for your buck, and I listen to mostly EDM, and punk rock, plus I'm a sucker for bass. I want to stay around this price range but I was also considering some AudioEngine A4 passive bookshelf speakers. I'm not sure if the active KRK's would be a mess trying to hook up to the receiver. The room I'll be listening in is very small as is my budget. And I want a very dynamic setup to handle both the bass of the EDM but all the mids and highs of vocals. But I'll take any suggestions you are willing to give. I hope you guys can I help me. I have a lot of respect for the forum members here and I will be eternally grateful. Thank you.
  6. I have aktimate mini+ monitors and am looking to add a sub. Im am looking to spend $400-500 but will stretch a fair bit (maybe up to a grand if the sub is phenomenal and you can convince me its worth going broke for lol) At the moment I am leaning towards a wharfedale diamond 9 SW-150 (400bucks). But am also considering the AS8 and krk 10s (500 odd each). Its a smallish room and I want it pretty much just for music. I listen to a huge variety of stuff classic rock (acdc, slade, black Sabbath) to alternative stuff (some other stuff: System of a down, queens of the stoneage, muse, florence and the machine etc etc) etc etc but I am guessing it will be most beneficial for my guilty pleasure (cough *dubstep*cough). any advice?
  7. This NSM Model 5SE speakers are in excellent overall condition. Come with grills, manuals, original box. They are an acoustically matching pair, serial numbers confirm that. My price is $200. New they were selling for $499 and they still command excellent value. The review below summarizes my impressions of them. It is hard to buy speakers of this quality now, especially SE version of Model 5 with all the upgrades. The Model 5 Signature Edition is a hot rod version of the Model 5. The cabinet is a hand rubbed white Russian Baltic birch plywood cabinet, long known for its anti-resonant properties and sonic quality. The Model 5 SE is hot rodded with Superior ™ binding posts, polypropelene capacitor by-passed with film foil capacitor, metal oxide resistor, and DH Labs silver sonic internal wire. Imagine sound, imaging, and soundstaging even more exquisite than that of the standard Model 5. Buyer pays actual shipping and PP fees. I have perfect scores on Audiogon and eBay if you need to see them just let me know. Buy with confidence and please review detailed hi-res pictures. SPECIAL FEATURES: Magnetically shielded Time Coherent Point Source Design: time-aligned, two-way, first-order, point source, acoustic suspension Drivers: 1 inch soft dome, ferro-cooled tweeter, 4.5 inch carbon fiber full-range driver Crossovers: 18 AWG laminated copper inductor, polypropeline capacitor, non-inductive wire wound resistor, multi-strand copper to tweeter, inductor is wired directly between full-range driver and terminal. Cabinet: acoustic suspension Connectors: gold plated copper five-way binding posts Review summarizes it best, they are truly holographic: "The only speaker I could find that could cast a more rock-solid center image is the utterly minuscule, stupidly-good-at-the-price, ... NSM Model 5SE, which shoots images in the room like a laser and beats out just about any speakers in this regard. The little NSMT presents center-placed vocal images as if they are right THERE, like a softball hovering in the air. It's almost eerie and, no doubt, the Model 5's fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand size helps."
