Greetings Audiophiles! Having not been able to find what I want through my own research online, I have come seeking recommendations from those in the know. This is the first forum I came across. I'm guessing you are mostly US-based judging by the default timezone it wanted to use? In which case, greetings from the UK :-) Many years ago, while I was studying at University I used to have a PC that had a Soundblaster card with a breakout box. It was particularly useful for inputting midi and a mic and monitoring with headphones. Now, in the coming months I will be doing a new PC build and although my useage has changed somewhat, I am looking for something similar which no longer seems to exist. I now have a small YouTube gaming channel which I co-host. I would like a panel/external box which can handle: 2 sets of headphones (3.5mm) with independent volume controls USB mic in with level indicator MIDI-in or another USB I will also need a suitable soundcard. Last time I was building a PC there were crazy amounts of options for soundcards. I did quite like the look of the SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty, but with it being over a decade old will no doubt be incompatible (don't think it works over PCIe). Essentially I am totally out of date when it comes to PC audio. Initially I will be wanting to record from one USB mic (Blue Yeti), while utilising two sets of headphones. But at some point I will want to probably use a couple of (musical) keyboards (Yamaha PSR7000 and microKORG) to do some sequencing work. I don't want to be faffing around the back of the PC all the time. I don't need top of the range. Equally, I don't want to be using the garbage that is generally on-board MB audio. I am also a gamer. Your suggestions would be most welcome. All the best, TRC

I've been looking around for about 2 months and I've come up with some good suggestions to what I could get, but I'm not completely sure yet ofc. Idk if it affects anything but i mostly game when using headphones I've been looking at the AT2020 for the microphone (XLR version), and maybe the Scarlett 2i2 with it. Then I've looked at many headphones and can't come up with anything, i know i like some bass (but that is also the only I've ever heard from headphones other than cheap earplugs) PS. I dont have a specific budget, and if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my microphone in most VOIP programs (mainly using Discord and Teamspeak, but the problem persists in several others). The problem seems to be that my microphone only records in channels 1, 2 (FL and FR), while most VOIP software seems to draw audio from the "FC" channel, aka channel 3. I checked this with my virtual audio cables, Gif:https://gfycat.com/DimpledSpottedCowbird and the microphone gives a signal on both FL and FR, however when I turn the channel config to "mono", it checks "FC" and gives no signal. The microphones who DO work on voip software are all giving me a signal in FC when mono is checked, so that's why I'm assuming that's the problem. The only thing I've found to work is when I'm recording and post-processing with this software (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/AudioChannelManipulation), where only the "stereo - 2 x mono files" version actually worked for my problem, but as this software doesn't work in real time, it's pretty useless for me.Does anyone have anything I can try, or have an alternate explanation? I've been trying to find software to route audio channels, but I haven't found anything. I've tried voicemeeter and virtual audio cables, but I don't know enough about the software, I think.Additionally, windows noise suppression also forces the mic to the mono (FC) channel so it works on VOIP and other software, but it loses a lot of fidelity obviously, something I'd like to keep!

Hi, I've embarked on the journey to create content on Twitch and YouTube with some friends and realized my old, cheap headset isn't really good enough (shock and surprise). What I'm looking for is, in order or importance: A good microphone Comfortable hearphones (I'll use them 2h+ sessions) Good quality audio Plus the budget restriction of staying under 100$. I'm currently checking HyperX Cloud Stinger and HyperX Cloud Alpha headsets, which seems pretty good from what I've read, although I have some doubts reading multiple people have had crosstalks problems with them. So, my questions are: Any suggestion for good headsets that fits my requirements? Is the difference between Stinger and Alpha so great to justify the almost double price tag between the two? Thanks in advance!

Maybe I am trying to do too much with one thread, but here is my situation. I have a budget of roughly $1000 to put towards new sound equipment for my gaming PC. I currently have a set of Logitech 5.1 speakers that I bought about 10 years ago for under $60 that I am using in 2.1 configuration, a Logitech desktop microphone that has since been discontinued, and a pair of Hesh headphones that do a decent job. I am looking to replace all of these. My budget allocation is $150 for mic, $250 for headphones, and $600 for speakers. However, I don’t know much about what brand does what when it comes to speakers and headphones, so I figured I’d post my budget and my needs and see if you guys have some good suggestions. Speakers: $600 I live in an apartment, so volume and bass are not my primary goals. What I want is longevity and clarity. The quieter I can have my speakers while still understanding everything that is being said on that TV show, the better. I only need stereo speakers in 2.0 configuration (a subwoofer is not desired, as I think the thumps it provides are the worst offenders against happy apartment neighbors). While I’m not looking for something that can be heard in the next building, I do want to be able to clearly hear what is going on when I am in the next room if I turn up the volume during the day. I also would like fairly long cords for a desktop computer, with the assumption there are several monitors between them (wireless is a no-no). I prefer black speakers, but the color isn’t a necessity. The price cap should include anything else required to make them work. I don’t know much about audio equipment to know if an amplifier is needed, but if it is, factor that into the cost. Headphones: $250 I’ve heard that open headphones are better than closed headphones, so these are something I would like to try. Once again, I’m looking primarily for clarity. Leather or fake leather pads are much preferred to cloth/foam style pads. Circumaural is my preferred style. The headphones must be wired, and microphone should NOT be included. I am not going to use the microphone on the headphones, so I don’t want to pay for one. Also, I would like a solution to easily change from headphones to speakers, and to control the volume of the headphones. Microphone: $150 I would like to change to something that isn’t taking up desk real estate. I have plenty of room behind my desk that isn’t being used, that could be used for a mic boom. I would like a studio-style microphone with pop filter and a floor stand. Of course, all black. I don’t have a super huge budget hear, because I do care more about what I hear than what others hear. If you can suggest a better way to allocate my resources (i.e. take $50 off the microphone budget to add to the headphone budget) that is fine, but there is a hard cap of $1000. To recap, this thousand would be for: *Stereo speakers with a focus on clarity *Open stereo headphones with leather-style circumaural pads *Recording studio-style microphone with a floor stand I know next to nothing about what brands do what when it comes to audio equipment, so I’d like suggestions on what best fits my desires within my price range. Thanks!
