  1. All, I am starting this thread for general discussion of LIO. There will be other threads specific to particular LIO modules that will follow, but this will be a fine place to post general questions about LIO. You can find a lot of information on our website: www.vinnierossi.com The PRODUCTS menu has a drop down to different LIO configurations (DAC, Phonostage, Preamp, Integrated Amp), a "Custom configure LIO" (make it exactly the way you want!), as well as a sub menu for the various LIO modules to learn about them in more detail. For example, LIO DHT PRE: DHT PRE - Vinnie Rossi Audio This is our Directly Heated Triode linestage module for LIO that was introduced last Spring. Many LIO customers upgraded to it and received 100% trade-in credit for their RVC + Tubestage, or AVC/Tubestage modules. If you want to learn about our Patent Pending ultracapacitor power supply that occupied half of the entire LIO, check out the LIO Technology page: LIO Technology for the Audiophile Most of the pages on our website have tabs, such as a tab for Features, Specifications, Options. You'll also see a FORUM link on our menu at the top. When you click it, it takes you to our forum on Audiocircle.com. It has over 80 separate threads, each with many posts, about all things LIO since 2014. So why the forum here on CA, you ask? While some of you are present on both forums, I know there are many who are not and I wanted to branch out a little. I've been a fan of CA for a while now and have visited here every now and then, and decided to start a sponsored forum for 2017. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for participating here! Vinnie
  2. The Peachtree Audio family of stereo integrated amplifiers, speakers and DACs all follow their modern sound design philosophy. Make it sound great, make it simple and make it beautiful. They achieve a unique balance of these qualities to offer what we believe are the best integrated amplifiers with DACs, headphone amps, power amps, speakers, and USB DACs for computer audio. A Peachtree stereo system complements any environment, whether it's used for desktop audio or as the HiFi in your living room. The unique look and sound of a Peachtree is as easy on the eyes as it is to your ears. Peachtree Audio nova150 - First of a New Generation In 2007 Peachtree Audio introduced a new integrated amplifier that immediately and forever changed the amplifier landscape. This amplifier - our original Decco - was groundbreaking for its time. It had a unique industrial design with an aluminum front panel, a simple button and knob user interface and a rounded wood case finished with beautiful veneers. Inside, it housed a class A/B power amplifier, a tube buffer visible through a window in the front panel and, most significantly, a USB input with built-in DAC to accept a direct connection from a Mac or PC! "Computer audio" was born, with Peachtree's Decco and Nova amplifiers on the leading edge, and with computer audio a defining part of Peachtree's identity. We now introduce nova 2.0 . . . a completely new generation of Peachtree integrated amplifiers that reimagines the original concept and takes it to an even higher level. Nova 2.0 is the culmination of everything Peachtree has learned as a leader in computer audio, plus a few new things they hadn't gotten to - until now. To take full advantage of the new engineering team, Peachtree moved the nova from a reputable manufacturer in China, to one of most skilled in micro and macro electronics manufacturer Canada. Peachtree will still have product like deepblue, remote controls, BT1 and the like manufactured in the far east, but the most complicated and important core product like nova have the advantage of the new factory. Peachtree PCB’s have been very nice the last few years, but by electrical standards, the new PCB’s are like electronic jewelry. And the grounding system is now better than ever allowing totally silent circuits to do their job. The new factory actually specializes in high-end medical equipment. The kind of equipment that if there’s noise on the line, or if it fails, people die. As detailed and complicated as the 2.0 circuits are, this facility was the perfect choice. The Integrated Amplifier… Reimagined Highlights ESS Reference 9018K2M Sabre DAC 32-Bit/384kHz PCM and 5.6MHz DSD (double-DSD) compatibility New generation ICEPower amplification - 150 watts per channel Extensive internal grounding Designed by a world-class engineering team Asynchronous USB, Coax and (2) Optical inputs Asynchronous iOS input for direct digital input from Apple Lightning devices Phono (MM) input Home Theater Bypass Loop feature to add an external tube buffer, EQ or other processor into the signal path Discrete, custom-designed headphone amplifier Optional Wi-Fi module to be announced Available in Gloss Ebony Mocha, Natural Santos Rosewood and Piano Black Made in North America Stunning Results Peachtree Audio takes great pride in what they have accomplished with the new nova150. It accommodates virtually every type of music source people use today, from spinning vinyl at home to streaming audio from the cloud. 3. EMM Labs DA2 New Generation Flagship DAC is HERE! (please call for pricing and delivery options) "Based on what I'd heard I thought this system would reproduce live music very well. I cranked the volume up to what seemed like 100 dB and grabbed the center seat. What I heard literally sounded like a live Nirvana concert. The room in which this system was in was huge and so was the soundstage. The electrostatic panels sounded awesome with the huge EMM amps and the new DA2 DAC. The sound wasn't like a traditional audiophile system at a show, rather it was life-like with air and immediacy in a way that made other systems sound a bit closed in and boxy. I think I could have played the entire Unplugged album with my eyes closed and seriously felt like I was sitting in Sony Music Studios in New York City on November 18, 1993." -Chris Connaker (computeraudiophile.com RMAF 2015 recap) Ed Meitner of EMM Labs proudly previews the DA2, his successor to the much beloved DAC2X The DA2 is EMM Labs next generation flagship DAC. Re-designed from the ground up, Ed Meitner has once again created a DAC that significantly moves the bar in terms of transparency, accuracy and overall sound quality. New in the DA2: 16xDSD MDAC™ Proprietary hardware galvanic isolation for the USB Audio interface Every other system from its proprietary jitter removal MFAST™ to its super accurate clock, MCLK™ has been carefully revised for better sound. Inputs -> 1xAES, 1xUSB Audio, 2xSPDIF, 2xTOSLINK Outputs -> Balanced and un-balanced analog outputs (both can be used at the same time) With EMM Labs' MDAT™ DSP engine and MDAC™ already running at 16xDSD (DSD1024, 45Mhz/49Mhz) this unit is basically future proof and now performs at a whole different level/generation of performance than the DAC2X. Finishes: Silver with titanium insert and buttons (pictured) Black with black insert and buttons Premium finish with plated inserts/buttons: 24K gold, Nickel/Silver and custom finish available. We're now accepting orders for EMM Labs next production run, so give us a call to see about getting on the list. 1.844.CIAMARA (1.844.242.6272) High End Audio Store NYC - Experience Ciamara

  5. Hi, I'm new to this site. I discovered it in my search for a DSD DAC to replace my Oppo 105. I have a HAL MS3 running JRiver and Aurender S-10 and want to be able to listen to my ~12 TB of hi-rez albums without worrying about conversion, drop outs, etc. I have about 300 DSD albums, so would prefer native DSD. Ideally I'd feed everything through the aurender, as I like the UI better than JRiver, and I haven't gotten JRemote to work yet. I started looking at DACs below $2k used, but find myself looking at Meitner, PS Audio DirectStream, Bricasti M1, etc. Within my budget are Exogal Comet and Auralic Vega. Thanks, AC

  8. We were just there exhibiting as always at a professional audio trade show (we make professional DSD and PCM ADCs and DACs in addition to this DAC). It was a very dynamic Show with a hint of Hi Res Audio talk and raised awareness about high resolution music formats. We had a hi res PCM and DSD computer playback system with some DSD recordings with Mytek DSD DAC driving closed Audeze LCD-XC (it's loud on the floor). Stevie Wonder stopped by, and listened for solid 10 mins to DSD recordings, he liked the sound very much... Cheers, Michal at Mytek New York
  9. There are lots of articles out there (mags/websites etc) debating the virtues of dsd vs pcm 'High-Res' quality etc. I'm trying to understand how it is that my eight year old (Win XP) laptop can play DSD files when a 'DSD' compatible DAC is 'required' to decode/playback DSD files. The laptop doesn't have an 'audiophile' soundcard, and I'm not claiming the sound is better than an external DAC, but I can clearly hear the difference between various formats (.mp3 Vs FLAC vs DSD etc). Why are DSD DAC's required when any pc (or Mac with the right software) can already play these files?
