View Classified PS Audio Directstream DAC Selling my much loved PS Audio Directstream DAC as I upgraded to the Mola Mola Tambaqui in the summer. Great (almost perfect) condition unit and remote control, with original boxing as shown. The only blemishes are a few slight cosmetic scratches as highlighted on the last couple photos. I wasn't even aware of these until today and taking the pictures to create the listing. Also I sold the Bridge II and couldn't find the backplate to seal the unit so did so with sellotape as shown to keep dust out. The buyer could probably source a backplate if they set their mind to it, but it was at the rear of my rack so I didn't care as the sellotape does the job. Factoring this and the fact many are available for sale now PS Audio has released the successor MKII DAC into the low price. Looking for £2200 £2000 which is a bargain as this was a £6000 DAC when I bought it in March of 2017. UK sale preferred but will ship to UK or EU at my expense. I'm based in London if the buyer wish to come around and inspect the unit or collect. PayPal Friends & Family (or buyer pays PayPal fees if they want an invoice) or bank transfer only please. Much as I love the Tambaqui I'm sad to be selling the Direcstream as this was my pride and joy for the last 6 years and is a truly awesome DAC. Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking. I'm attempting to simplify our 2-channel audio system as my wife finds it more trouble to use than it's worth. The Auralic Aries Mini might be the perfect solution. I'd connect it to an Emotiva DC-1 dac doubling as preamp and send the signal via balanced cables to a pair of JBL LSR308 powered monitors. UI would be an iPad Air 2. Nice & clean. The question is where to store our 1.2 TB flac library. I prefer avoiding network streaming. Option 1: Install a 2.5" 2TB hdd inside the Mini Option 2: Directly connect a powered external USB hdd Option 2: Directly connect via ethernet a WD My Book Live NAS The difference in cost is negligible. Which option would yield the best sound quality? As always, much obliged. Gary

From PS Audio website. "Ted Smith has done it again. A major breakthrough in the art of digital audio. Over this weekend we have been beta testing our newest operating system for our DirectStream DAC, Snowmass, and the reviews are flooding in: https://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/listening-is-scary/#comment-94814

I own a Burson Conductor and until recently did not have the chance to compare it to anything. I went over a buddys house today and he owns a DirectStream and a Vega dac. we compared 3 dacs. We both thought that it was very close between the DS and Burson. I liked the Vega better. Had more weight in the lower mids. Vocals and textures seemed a bit better (no pun intended lol). All in all the Burson didn't seem to be outclasses badly. I really expected the ∫urson to get stomped on. I am looking to upgrade so now I am perplexed since both the dacs are more $ than the Burson, and the performance seemed close. (granted this was in a system I am not familiar with but still...) Any recommendations on what DACS should easily best my Burson <6k?

Hi all Just wanted to ask if there are any PS Audio DirectStream DAC owners out there that have paired it directly with a Benchmark AHB2 power amp? I'm thinking of trying out this combination and I'm trying to arrange a demo for January but in the mean time I'm interested in hearing anyone else's thoughts, that's tried this combination specifically. Thanks in advance :-)

Hi folks! My system has been purely computer-based digital from the start - initially with iTunes tracks and more recently with hi-resolution files from HDTracks and the like. I don't think I've purchased any physical media in almost 10 years... However, I really like DSD, and given the dearth of sites selling DSD downloads (especially outside of the US, e.g. Acoustic Sounds' Super HiRez doesn't sell to customers outside the US and Canada), I've been toying with the idea of just buying SACDs and ripping them to DSD files. What's the best way and best equipment to use to do this? I already have a decent DAC (PS Audio Directstream), so if it's a transport recommendation I probably don't need a super-highend one with a built-in DAC... But I'm open to all ideas! Many thanks in advance for any advice. Art p.s. My setup is Mac Mini based (with an Uptone Audio LPS and MMK to be installed when I get some time!), with my current music files accessed via wired LAN from another Mac Mini with an external RAID.

Hi folks, I've now had PS Audio DirectStream DAC for about 4 months, and am enjoying it. However, I've recently noticed that in the absence of any music I can hear a constant soft buzzing from the right channel (speakers/headphones). There is absolutely nothing in the left channel. Only in the right side. 1. If I unplug my speaker cables from my monoblock amps the buzzing disappears: i.e., not in speakers 2. If I unplug the (XLR) interconnects between the DAC and my monoblock amps the buzzing disappears: i.e., not in the amps 3. If I unplug the USB connection between my Mac and the DS the buzzing DOES NOT disappear: i.e., not in Mac... In the DS! 4. If I swap the (XLR) interconnects between the right and the left connectors at the back of the DS the buzzing moves to the other side. So it looks like the buzzing is coming from the RIGHT XLR connector at the back of my DS. It's actually quite annoying as I can hear it up to 1 meter away from my right speaker, and can hear it quite distinctly in the right side of my headphones. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this buzzing? Thanks very much for any advice! Art I am using a Mac Mini/Macbook, with Uptone JS-2 LPS, Regen, the DirectStream, Woo Audio WA234 Monoblock Amps, with a P10 Powerplant, and Nordost Valhalla2 power cables and XLR interconnects.
