USBridge+DietPi: DAC issue: Soekris 1101 USB DAC
ursdiego posted a topic in Allo's TRANSPORT Support
Hi! I got a new USBridge with DietPi, my intention is to use Squeezelite. My DAC is a Soekris 1101 USB DAC. I connect the DAC and power it on. It shows the 44khz - led while it waits for the source to connect. Then I power on USBBridge and wait until it boots up. The result is, that I don't get any sound at all: Squeezelite is "enabled" (which is a sign that somehow it recognizes that a DAC is connected, because without the DAC connected, Squeezelite stays "disabled"). However, Squeezelite refuses to play tracks. Prior to buy the USBridge, I got myself a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and I installed PiCorePlayer in order to try out the compatibility of my DAC. It worked without problem. Given that I got it to work with a RPi, I thought I could buy a USBridge with no risk. Even more so, as the DAC is natively supportet by Linux according to the manufacturor. Some additional information: The power should not be the problem, as I connect the DAC through a device that cuts the USB power supply from USBridge and adds power from a clean (linear) source. If I connect the DAC directly, it does not power up (I suppose, USBridge does not deliver enough power). This setup works flawlessly with the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and PiCorePlayer pCP4.1.0. While it boots, the 44khz-led switches off on the DAC. This is not a normal behaviour. Normaly, it remains on normally, or it switches to another value. This might indicate some issue on the communication between DAC und USBridge. Any possible solution??? And: I suppose that PiCorePlayer would not work properly on a USBridge, supporting the clean USB-port? Or would it? If yes, this would possibly resolve the issue for me. And if yes, how to... I am not familiar with eMMC - flashing... If it helps if I provide Log-Files or similar, please let me know how to get them, I am a complete newbie (I manage to SSH into DietPi with putty, but I have no idea where and how to find the log-files). THANKS INDEED in advance! Urs -
This week I installed iOS 10.1 on my iPhone and iPad. Call me an idiot, but when firmware upgrades present itself, I'm always hitting the install button. This morning I want to start listening on my Auralic Aries from an Apple Music from my iPad, using AirPlay, and somehow the Aries doesn't appear anymore on my iPad as AirPlay playback device. Checking the same on my iPhone, and also there, the Aries is not appearing. Could it be that iOS 10.1 again changed something in the Airplay implementation, causing the Aries not to be compatible anymore? Does anyone else have this problem? Firmware installed on my Aries is also the latest one, version 4.0 I believe.

Hope this is the right place to post this - if not feel free to move it. Its about the AMR DP 777 DAC as much as the Audiogd device. Hi guys and gals I have been reading a fair amount - in a short space of time - and one thing quite a few people seem to feel is that a coax output sounds better than a usb one - I certainly hold to that re red book transports connected to red book DACS - so in order to explore that I bought a S/H Audigd digital interface to explore that possibility. In doing so I may well have stepped into my first incompatibility issue - so I ask the question do I in fact have that or have I perhaps missed something in the set up - which is possible. Here is the set up to provide more info I am using either an Acer 1810TZ Notebook or Sony VPCEB4E4E laptops + external HD. The DAC is an AMR DP777. The media engine was Winamp - not bought J River yet though I intend to. Both laptops display the same problem in that there is no sound from the DAC using the Audiogd and a coax cable. The device is set correctly in the laptop - as far as I know - but Winamp refuses to play any music while the Audiogd is selected. If I switch to the usb - ASIO driver for the AMR DP777 there is music. Or if I select the spdif optical out on the Acer that produces music. I have tried the Audiogd as a coax improver and music played - I used a Marantz CD player as the transport so the Audiogd is working at least in this role. I am stumped as to why this isn't working. No doubt its something simple but if so I can't see it. To anyone replying please consider me somewhat ignorant and give me the idiots guide and a step by step solution/check list and simply is probably best than being more advanced. Thank you in advance.
