  1. Does somebody know how it works? I've set the drive speed control (preferences>CD rip>Drive speed control) to 'Limit to 4x' (instead of automatic) but the ripping is done by approximately 10 to 12 x. I thought I limited the cd ripping process to 4x though. It doesn't matter if I set the ripper mode to CD Paranoia or XLD secure ripper.

  3. Hi Last week I bought a new CD. Ripping it, I ended up with FLAC files with considerable lower volume as files I ripped from other CDs I have. I guess, this is perfectly normal. But I hate it, as this means I have to adjust the volume if I listen to some other album or if the music is part of a playlist. Is there a way to change the volume of the ripped files without losing quality or dynamics? Currently, I'm using a Mac with fre:ac to create FLAC. I'm happy to rip the CD again with some parameter or other tool or to use some utility to change the volume post-ripping.
  4. I'm currently on the look out for a new DAC with DSD 512, Streaming etc. I had never heard of this DAC before but there's a very impressive review here: https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2019/06/14/cocktail-audio-x45-pro-music-player-dac-review/ I had my eyes set on the latest Denafrips Terminator DSD 1024 but the reviewer thinks Coctail is better! And the price is the same as Terminator with loads of extras like CD Play/Ripping and phono stage too (not that I need it). This looks like another great DAC alternative. Anyone with any thoughts/experiences with Coctail DACs especially with the latest 45Pro? Thanks.
  5. I'm at the Munich High end show this week hanging out with the guys from Ayre. They are running the QX-5 demo in their booth using our new server. Our new server has a quad core i7, CD ripping and dual Ethernet, plus 5TB of internal storage. In the picture your can see we have the sonicTransporter attache to the Roon Ready QX-5 using a Cardas Ethernet cable. This configuration works and sounds great! To show case different a network player option we are running the Ayre Codex using a microRendu in DLNA mode.
