I'd like to report a couple of driver related issues with my Yggdrasil, discovered just today. Admittedly these issues are not new, but there has apparently been little or no progress for a few months: 1. Schiit ASIO driver does not support Windows 10 (or Windows Server 2016). This driver can apparently install against Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, all the way back to Windows XP, but if you are running Windows 10 (any edition) or WS2016 you are going to be SOL. 2. USB 2.0 Audio Class driver in pre-releases of upcoming Windows 10 RS2 ("Creators Edition") fails to work with Yggdrasil. The DAC shows up as a "yellow bang" device in Device Manager, with error code 10 "device cannot start" and the error log indicates a "migration" failure. This error was reported some months ago over at head-fi, closer to when Microsoft initially introduced the USB 2.0 Audio Class driver (usbaudio2.sys) into their RS2 builds. I tested with a very recent RS2 build (just days old) today with my Yggy and got the same result. Mike M., if you are reading this, I'd like to know whether Schiit has provided Microsoft with a Yggdrasil sample for them to work on this yellow bang issue. Microsoft's USB 2.0 Audio Class driver has progressed to the point of properly supporting playback with several USB DACs I have, and the Yggy (being my only Schiit) stands out with this functional failure. Microsoft is only days from locking down Win10 RS2 for general availability release, so it may be too late, but I would hate to see the Yggy sustain this compatibility hit with Microsoft's latest OS. Sure, the Schiit supplied Win10 driver works fine with RS2, but many other DACs will soon have a driver choice (inbox vs. manufacturer supplied) with Win10 RS2.

Hello Guys, I am about to order some parts to start building a HTPC with a Streacom FC9 fan-less case but before I spend lots of money on the parts, I thought I can consult with you guys here to make sure I'm on the right track. Many thanks in advanced for your help. I am using a Synology NAS where I stored my high resolution files (mainly FLAC) and I also have a Rotel RA-1570 integrated amplifier which has got a PC-USB input supporting High res audio files. My main purpose of building this HTPC is for playing back high resolution audio files from my NAS (and occasionally video too). I also want to have a nice and responsive interface (something like the XBMC) that I can also control by an android app. I am thinking of buying the Gigabyte "GA-H97M-D3H" which comes with integrated "Realtek® ALC892 codec". My question is, is there a way to get a bit-perfect and low noise output into the amplifier with the current set up or do I need a sound card? probably something supporting ASIO? Also can I just use the USB cable from PC to Amplifier? or should I use the SPDIF output of the sound card? what's the best way to achieve the best sound quality with my amp? My budget is limited for under 200$ for a sound card. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hello, I have a MA8000 and I am trying to use J River to play music through my computer. I am connected to the amp with the proper USB cable and I have installed the McIntosh USB driver. I configured the settings exactly as specified on the McIntosh website. However, when attempting playback I only get five minutes through a song before audio stops and a message pops up, "ASIO Driver stopped unexpectedly." Much of the time I don't even get 30 seconds before the "ASIO Driver stopped unexpectedly". Sometimes when I connect the amp to the computer and turn them both on, they will connect and disconnect rapidly. If anyone can offer advice, let alone a solution, I'd be eternally grateful. Hello folks! I am a complete naive to sound stuff, but I really need to record sounds with low latency on a Mac running Windows. I’ve heard that Mac computers are usually almost bit perfect when running mac’s native OS, but it seems that the situation isn’t the same when it is running Windows. So I have a few questions about this situation… - How can I know the size of the latency when I am recording sounds? - Is there any way to reduce this latency? - Would ASIO driver be suitable for this situation? - When recording sounds, is it better to use a mac running windows or simply to use a generic windows computer? Any help would be of great value to me!

Hello, Need some advice from some ASIO/WASAPI guru:) Just recently I have bought Musical Fidelity M1 DAC. It is connected to my laptop (Win 7) with Wireworld Ultraviolet USB 2m. As a speakers I am using Yamaha HS8 active studio monitor speakers. I am playing ONLY Flac or CD (Foobar 2000 v 1.2.9), must say this DAC is just awesome. But there is one small problem, when ASIO is in use during the playback and when I press the button to switch to another song from my playlist, there is a strange sound, like crackle. I disabled ethernet, wireless drivers also only 2 USB inputs are in use (1-mouse, 2 - USB to DAC), but no difference. But it happened occasionally, not every time. When I use just M1 DAC output (Foobar) without ASIO, there is no crackles at all. No big deal I assume, but it is annoying. ---------------- Windows 7, updated with all latest USB, wireless, ethernet etc. drivers. ASIO driver version - 2.11 beta2 ASIO plugin for Foobar. ASIO setup: ASIO Buffer size - 512 (tried smaller and max, no difference) Latency comp. - 0 WaveRT - unchecked Buffer size - 4ms Always resample 44.1khz <->48khz - unchecked Force WDM dr to 16bit - unchecked If somebody could give me a good advice, I would appreciate. Hello members. I am a new and glad to be here. Hopefully someone can help me out I have gathered up some entry level gear which suits me well, as I travel a fair bit. Currently I run am running Foobar2000 to an ARCAM rPAC DAC, to a pair of Grado SR60’s. My source consists of a Lenovo Thinkpad, Core i3 processor with, 4GB ram. All M4a’s are on an external HDD, connected via USB. For entry level the dynamics of the setup are great (have to love the SR60’s). However I find the integrated headphone amp in the DAC lacks the ability to drive the SR60’s to high volume - the amp seems to run out of steam. The volume does get loud but is far from the “blistering” level that I have been told it should reach, (not that I would listen to blistering volume). So far I have: 1. Checked all of the volume settings (I know of) with no result. 2. Turned off the power management on all USB Hubs, no effect. 3. Attempted to bypass Windows KMixer by loading an ASIO driver into Foobar, hoping this will remove any volume restriction in Windows 7, (which I read has volume output issues). Foobar2000, output now set to ASIO, has mapped the left and right channels (as I can hear them) but the rPAC DAC is still showing a standard MS generic USB audio driver. This would lead me to believe that the music is still being streamed through KMixer. And the volume issue remains. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I am using a Xonar Essence STX audio card with the ASUS 5.12.8.1756 driver. My question is what is the default latency set for the sound card output and also is it possible to adjust the ASIO, specifically latency, settings with this driver version? I cannot use an updated version of the driver because when I install it the software that I am using to play the sound (Psychtoolbox in Matlab) cannot recognize the ASIO component of my ASUS audio card and all the latency and defaultsamplerate numbers are set to 0. I know with the updated driver you can simply right click on the ASUS icon in the task bar and adjust the bit-depth and latency but with my driver version there is no option to adjust the ASIO settings using this method. I really appreciate any comments, Al
