Oops... I posted the following messages in the general DAC forum, not the Allo-specific one and was kindly directed here. So I'll just copy them here -- hopefully someone can help me! ----- posted 3/8, around 10pEST --- The Allo Boss I received today was described as the latest 1.2 version and the card clearly says "HW REV 1.5" as you can see in the picture I've attached. I've plugged it onto my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with the latest Volumio (v 2.555, 2/18/2019) and get NO sounds out of it. I've tried Jumper ON (plugged into either RPi OR Boss) and Jumper OFF (separate 5V 2.4a power supplies). Same result all three ways -- no sound. (I'm sure speakers & RCA cables are fine.) Is this a new board that isn't supported by Volumio yet? Please help!!!!

Hello-- My Allo Boss 1.2 (on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+) recently stopped outputting any audio when using Shairport. I've tried streaming from multiple sources, and they all act as if playback is normal, but in the Allo interface the ALSA stream info says this: at: '/proc/asound/card*/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params': No such file or directory. The pi 3.5mm audio jack does output audio, but the Boss DAC does not. The Boss still appears as a sound card option, and I've tried deselecting/reselecting it with no change. I've also rebooted multiple times, double-checked my power supplies, and uninstalled/reinstalled ALSA with no success. Does anyone have any other ideas to try? I've attached a log file, but I'm by no means an expert, so I'm not sure what other info to provide. Thanks in advance! dmesg log.rtf

Hello, I replaced my Airport Express with an Allo Boss + Rpi combination. Now when not playing any sound, my speakers make a humming sound. It immediately goes away , and stays away shortly after finisihing music playback. (e.g. even a few seconds after the welcome sound) is the Allo Boss DAC somehow switched free of the output when idle? Is there a way to turn that off?

I thought I would give a try to the BOSS Dac for my Raspberry Pi 3. I am using Audacious as my music player, but I cannot seem to figure out how to direct the music to the DAC and then through the RCA interconnects to my amplifier. The sound seems to only want to play through the TV speakers via the HDMI. I tried to change the output to 'analog' instead of HDMI, but then no sound comes out. I feel like I am missing something simple... This is supposed to be 'plug and play' and probably idiotproof, yet I seem to be more of an idiot the most.

I just received the Allo Boss DAC in the mail, I connected it up with my RasPi 3, and connected the RasPi to my HDMI TV as a monitor. I am using Audacious as my media player, and the sound is coming out of the TV speakers. I have my amp connected via RCA plugs to the Boss. What do I need to do to get the sound from the TV back to the amp?

I've had a Allo MINI BOSS DAC on a Rasberry PI Zero W since February. It was plugged directly into an old Haffler amplifier. The Pi Zero runs MOODE. All was fine and then the connection to MOODE died. It looked to me like the Pi had died. The green light on the Mini Boss was still on. I bought a new Pi Zero, moved the SD memory card over put the Mini Boss on top of it, and turned it on. Green light on the Mini Boss but rasberry pi zero appears to be dead. Took the Mini Boss back off the Pi and tried plugging the pi into my windows 10 laptop USB port. Windows does not register that anything is plugged in. I think the Mini Boss is killing the Rasberry Pi. What could be wrong with the Mini Boss that it kills the Pi. How can I tell? Thanks in advance for helping?

Has anyone got Allo Boss 1.2 I2S DAC to work with RPI-4 and Volumio (July 2020 build)? If yes, is it with RPI-4 1GB RAM or 4 GB RAM ? Unfortunately, the tech specs on Allo website says compatibility with RPI-2 and RPI-3 only.
