While selling drugs (naturally and chemically produced) have the stigmata of being still illegal in most western civilizations, producing & selling the booze and drinking with moderation (or not) has been accepted part of our daily life pop culture. I have scanned Music in General topics back until Dec 2017 and did not find a thread about Music & Booze. As art and addiction looks like a common duality, artists have often related their output to the theme of spirits, drinking and being spirited away. While some rock stars have used their popularity to market beverage products, others like Sting and Maynard James Keenan, the singer of TOOL , for example are owning wine yards. Let's look what we find about the topic between euphoria and depression, high spirits and low feelings. Please be kind and tactful within this thread. Small disclaimer: Personally, I have lost several friends & family members related to alcohol addiction, therefore I'd like to salute to anyone who had overcome his/her addiction problem and ask them tactfully to stay away from this thread for the good. A minimum of liquids is obligatory ... pure smokers may start their own thread ;-). Songs like "Drinkin' And Smokin' Cigarettes" from Reverend Horton Head are definitely ok. Let's start with Eric Burdon & War

TLDR: There is no cure; the Music helps keep me in remission. "I MUST find some way to stop Christmas from coming!" For Tomorrow, he knew, all the Who girls and boys, Would wake bright and early. They'd rush for their toys! And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the Noise! Noise! Noise! Noise! That's one thing he hated! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Dr. Seuss) There is a constant noise in the back of our brains. I know that this can sound better (different). Somebody, someplace else, says that "IT" is better. Oh, the new USB in the new Norse God DAC is better. Or worse. We are like 10-week old kittens (I know I have two of them right now), SLEEP, RUN, Pounce on brother, meow for food, chase, dive, crash. The kittens have defined my audio journey perfectly over the last 50 years. My ears may be worse, but my sense of Music is a lot better; I still drive forward, my fingers dance over iPeng, and things are slowly calming down in general. But, FOMO hides in the shadows, waiting like that kitten to pounce. Will that Turntable sound better with a different phono stage? Do I even want the Turntable? What about a different AES cable? I am spending a lot more time working in my basement office. I need to upgrade the system down there. And so, it goes. As I look back over the last five decades, I am slowly uncovering that I like where my music systems are today. My anti-itch/anti-noise magic powder is the time and the money spent on the journey. Today, the total cost for three systems is less than one pair of speakers in the house two years ago. I still have some things to do in the office: Speakers that can be closer to the front wall and an integrated amp of some sort are on the shortlist —replacing a relatively old set of powered little studio monitors. The desktop system is now a pair of HomePod Mini's and AirPods Max Headphones, with a Mac laptop and Apple Music as the source. I am not convinced that I need anything more. Want maybe, but need or use, that is the question. Yet, that noise, that itch, should I break out the Mojo or the Lyr 3? What headphones should I use? Oh, is it time for another Pi if I can find one to buy? -------------------- FROM THE BEGINNING - Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) There might have been things I missed But don't be unkind It don't mean I'm blind Perhaps there's a thing or two I think of lying in bed I shouldn't have said But there it is You see it's all clear You were meant to be here From the beginning Maybe I might have changed And not been so cruel Not been such a fool Whatever was done is done I just can't recall It doesn't matter at all You see it's all clear You were meant to be here From the beginning ...

Today, I had some extra time to kill. I spent some of the time syncing an iPod shuffle to Music. While Music told me the iPod software was up to date, it also allowed me to drag some music files to the iPod. (I did not use the Autofill function.) I don’t see them displayed when I look at my iPod under Devices on Music’s sidebar, but I did play them and they sounded as usual. Has anyone else experienced the same results?

I just installed Catalina. While I have moved to JRiver’s Media Center as my main player, I left songs that I don’t really listen to much at all for the Music app. For some reason, during my clean install of Catalina, when I look in the Music folder, I notice I don’t have a Music folder in there. For me, it’s just Music à Media. So, within the Media folder I have my music files and the Automatically Add to Music folder. I thought I should have a Music folder within the Media folder. For example: Music à Media à Music. Did my installation miss something?

One thing I always see Music doing is updating images. Unless I purchased the track from iTunes (Music), I did internet searches to get, better high-quality images. (Yup, I’m one of those!) Is there a way to stop this within Music? Or should I find something else like Little Snitch? I am using the latest version of Music and still on 10.15.3 I am no longer using Music, it just opens when I stick in a disc to rip with another program.

For iTunes, there was a script called iTunes PowerSearch. Does one exist for the Music app? I am trying to find particular remixes, but the search on Music is very clunky — at its best! (I did check Doug's AppleScripts, but didn't find anything similar.)

I downloaded John Legend’s “Bigger Love” from Quboz. It looks normal in JRiver’s Media Center and plans fine as well. Then, I decided to transfer the entire album to my iPhone. I haven’t tried this using JRiver yet, but decided to use Catalina’s Finder. First, I imported it to Music. While it looks normal in Music, on my iPhone, for the track names, all I see is “R&B,” listed for all of the names. If I play a track, I can see the actual title. I have tried deleting it and re-synching, but get the same results. (Yes, I am up to date on iOS.) Any suggestions?
