Burson Conductor V2

My bad - Conductor V2+, I should say. As that is the model with the DAC board. Having enjoyed the original Conductor, I'm most curious to hear what their latest version brings to the table. DSD and a remote are two biggies for me. But also curious at other changes under the hood - like their newest discrete op amp design. See the other thread for details: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/showthread.php?t=26831

Having bought their gear over the years, I think they offer pretty good bang for your buck. And these Melbournians have been a lovely bunch of guys to deal with.

Anyone else here curious?

Ad copy:

We have completed the R&D of our 3rd generation Conductor. A reference class headphone amp, USB DAC and preamp, 3 in 1.

Key Features:

* 8.2 Watt per channel into 16ohm. Operating in class-A

* SABRE32 ESS9018 DAC chip + Xmos USB receiver: (32bit/384khz, DSD256, DXD, capable)

However we have yet to set a price for it. Instead, we have put the design on Inidgogo to seek community support. With enough contributions from the community, we are hoping to push the price of this amazing design to as low as $999 USD for the analogue version (V2) and just $1,499 USD of the fully equipped version (V2+)

.... 6 days left to get a very tasty discount.

I for one, am very eager to hear what this sounds like [emoji846]

Do share if you've heard one.

I was curious to read this review on head-fi. Peter tested it with lots of cans, but im not a head-fi guy. I'm hoping that translates well on the preamp section too (as it is pretty much the same analogue output out of the RCAs as it is through the headphone jack - as I understand?)

http://www.head-fi.org/products/burson-audio-conductor-v2/reviews/15450

Peter writes highly about its amp section -

"If I should describe the sound from the amplifier section with three words it’ll be transparent, liquid and dynamic."

Hello, I am perhaps one of the first brave to have bought it. Courageous because taken at face value without trying it. I possess a humble HiFiMan 400i that did not make me regret my Sennheiser HD-650. I have owned for many years HA160D but I had the opportunity to hear other electronic some of my friends: Burson Conductor and Violetric V281 & V800. Other experiences are a holder of electronic home of the caliber of Nelson Pass, Audio Research, Martin Logan.

The Conductor V2 + amazed me from the first seconds of listening. There was no question of making direct comparisons with other electronics. The first thing that stands out was the very mind and articulate bass without minimally invade the high average scene. Dynamic and cleaning to sell. Considering the price, I think that to get better you have to invest at least beyond the $ 6,000.00

between DAC - Amplifier - Cables

Congratulations Ricardo!!

I'm still waiting to get hold of mine. Anticipation has been building with some glowing first impressions posted on the head-fi page:

While Burson doesn't have much of a profile here on CA, you'd know from the 160D that they produce good gear. I had upgraded from that to the first gen Conductor.

One guy with LCD4s and Hifiman 1000s are loving the sound he's getting. I'd suggest asking folks on that page. Not sure if anyone has the 3 or X with a V2+, but they might give you some idea which might be better for you... Assuming you can't listen for yourself first, of course. I'm sure both would sound pretty damn fine on your V2+.

Have you had the opportunity to test the v2+ with DSD?

Enjoy!

Yes, DSD with foobar2000 Also use TIDAL which is not bad at all

You're such a tease Ricardo! [emoji6]

Or should I take that to mean that DSD didn't sound particularly special?

Ah reading this as I listen to music using my new Burson Conductor Virtuoso 2+ and Oppo PM-1 headphones.

Don't want to spend too much time writing now, rather listen to the music.

But this latest Burson gives me richer sound than its older brother the CV1 or my other headphone amp, a Woo Audio Firefly.

So yes happy -- Burson makes good stuff, good-looking stuff, and good people too (when I needed help in the past or have had questions).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Music is love, made audible.

Do post more impressions when you're in the mood... Given the gear you've got, your thoughts would be most illuminating.

Meanwhile enjoy the music...

Dig your sig, btw [emoji846]

Apologies for any confusion, Ricardo. Just wondered how DSD sounded compared to PCM with the V2+.

If others care to share their experiences wit DSD, please do :-)

I'm still not sure when I'll get to try Burson's new toys...

It 'difficult to draw specific conclusions to DSD. And 'the whole is OK. 1st More power leads to less distortion, 2nd DSD, 3rd new OP-Amp, 4th new volume control, 5 ° XMOS input, etc ....... As described above, the whole set is excellent.

Always found the Burson guys most helpful [emoji846]

Did you try one of their new V5+ opamp/impedance cables?

I'm not needing one now, but always curious in their new creations. (I'm using the V2+ with a pair of HE-560s)

Thanks for the update Middy.

Sorry it's taking so long... I'm curious to hear your experience with them.

Meanwhile, in getting great joy from the V2+. It's a pleasure to listen to.

Indeed. That is quite a shame.

Hope you get the cable soon. Quite curious how it performs in different rigs.

Thanks for the heads up Middy. Sorry about it not working with the Brooklyn.. do you still have the Oppo? If so, did you try it on that?
