  5. View Classified Sablon 2020 Ethernet Cable I bought 4 of the Sablon 2020 ethernet cables. One of these cables has been sitting in my audio closet waiting for my new DAC to be built and shipped. I just discovered this morning I really need an HDMI cable for my planned connection, rather than an ethernet cable, so I have one extra Sablon ethernet that I don't need. This cable is brand new, unused, with the plug protectors still in place. The length is 1 meter. Price includes ground shipping to USA and I'll cover the paypal fees. The price is firm and fair. Thanks! Seller Blake Date 07/14/20 Price 280.00 USD Category Accessories
  6. Many network knowledgeable folks gather around here, so hoping you can point me in the right direction. I'm setting up a home gigabit network using UTP cat 6 cable. The cat 6 run from router to switch is 17 meters long and 12 of those meters run along and 10cm away from either flourescent tubes or LED strips. The runs from switch to clients are shorter and away from tubes/LEDs so these are of no concern (I think). Unfortunately, around here I'm not finding STP or FTP cat 6 unless I buy 1000 feet, which I'm not going to do. So I'm wondering if I should add any shielding to those 12 meters? I could wrap the cat 6 in aluminum duct tape, or slide the cat 6 inside copper tubing, or do nothing and live happily ever after. What do you think I should do? Thank you!
  7. I don't know if it is the right place for this topic (?) but this is just an information for the people who live in Europe like me, and would like to get the Ethernet cables from "cable matters", in order to connect it to the "B" port of the EtherREGEN, as it has be reported in the forum. It is quite diffcult to get these cables in Europe, but Amazon do ship to Europe from this URL: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Ethernet-10Gbps-25Gbps/dp/B07FF93G44?th=1 I hope this will help.

  10. Prior to using Aphelion cables, I've been happily using PPA red and black SATA, PPA red Ethernet, PACHANKO Refefence back SATA, and most recently THE LINEAR SOLUTIONS (TLS) Ethernet cables. Out of curiosity, I wanted to check out Chan's latest Aphelion offerings in SATA and Ethernet. A SATA Aphelion is installed between OS SSD in AudioPC, and an Ethernet Aphelion between AudioPC and controlPC. After a few months of listening, I'd like to share my impressions on those Aphelion cables. First, let me show the playlist of songs/tracks used for evaluation. It's a mixture of classical large scale symphonies and concertos in individual movements, classical instrument solos, jazz, pop ballads, Gregorian chants, world music, and anything in between. Namely, they are: - Ivan Fisher, Mahler symphony no. 3, DSD 64, movements 1 and 2 - Jazz at the Pawnshop, Late Night, DSD 256 - Anna Fedorova, Rachmaninov, piano concerto no. 2, 2nd movement - Various songs from Best Audiophile Voices 1 thru 7, XRCD24 - (To be continued)

  13. YT Channel Alpha Audio did a 6 cable comparison here I downloaded the video, extracted the audio track and saved the 6 iterations out to randomly named files. In the video they bias the viewer by telling them which cable is used when. Anyone feel free to evaluate, fully sighted ;-), any interval, length, duration, # of repetitions, no test administrator, on your own setup, and respond back with what you think is what far as SQ goes. This isn't a forced discriminate test as no difference is perfectly acceptable. Here is the DL for the zip file
  14. In the never-ending attempt to have an organized loom of wires behind my audio equipment, a new question arises. How short can ethernet cables be and function properly? I have not seen what is generally considered audiophile cable manufactures that have short, say 12" cables. I do have .5 meter but still a bit to long. Do any of you use short cables or just do your best to organize? Thanks

  20. I just ordered a Phasure ET^2 Ethernet cable, which will be arriving in a few days. As a happy Lush^2 USB cable customer, I have benefitted enormously from the shared wisdom in the Lush^2 configuration topic, and I'm hoping we can have a similar type of discussion here re: the ET^2.
  21. Mint condition 2 meter Starlight Cat 8 Ethernet Cable in original box with end clips. $270 new, selling for $190. Considered the best value in Ethernet cables, see the reviews. Dynamic, with deep controlled bass. If you're connecting components via Ethernet (e.g., server to streamer) a good Ethernet cable is essential. Selling because I'm upgrading to the platinum. Reviews https://www.audiostream.com/content/wireworld-starlight-cat8-ethernet-cable The Starlight CAT8 is very different sounding Ethernet cable when compared to my AudioQuest Diamond or Vodka Ethernet cables. The Starlight CAT8 is more extended sounding at the high and low end. This cable has a bit of midrange presence that I liked and didn’t find to be annoying in terms of brightness. The retrieval of high-end detail is outstanding. The midbass of the Starlight CAT8 is very controlled as is the low end. Dynamic contrasts, both micro and macro, are beautifully rendered and very easy to hear. The Audioquest Diamond and Vodka have smoothness at the high end that some, no doubt, will prefer. But I find the Starlight CAT8 to be the more revealing cable. The soundstage rendered by the Starlight CAT8 is the largest I have heard extending far beyond the lateral borders of my speakers. There is also very good depth reproduction if captured on the recording. The Starlight CAT8 reminded me sonically of what I heard when I reviewed the Platinum Starlight 7 USB 2.0 Cable. If you like this USB cable, I suspect that you will love the Starlight CAT8. Incidentally, for those of you that feel that there are no differences between Ethernet cables, I did some comparisons with a CAT6 Belden Ethernet cable and the Starlight CAT8. The Starlight CAT8 trounced the Belden in terms of sound quality. https://forum.psaudio.com/t/ethernet-cables-yes-im-going-there-i-was-a-skeptic-and-i-was-wrong/4393 ...Back and forth and back and forth… I would rank the Wireworld as a distant winner, this was a night and day difference that no one can miss. Smooth highs, nice body, a new full midrange that was previously lacking, and a live sound! 2nd is a draw between the $20 Belden and the $365 Cardas… these are different but I’m not sure which is better. Last is the Vodka which was a music killer for me… analytical way too agressive with the highs… sibilance off the charts. I don’t know why the WW sounds so different. It could be the Cat8 but I’m also suspecting the non-twisted geometry and use of triple shielding. They say it reduces skew in the signal. Who knows, I just know this is the equivalent as a power cable change or greater to my ears in my system going with the Wireworld. The difference between the Cardas and Belden was maybe much more subtle… and the AQ was awful which I was not expecting.
  22. Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a 2.5 meter SOtM dCBL-CAT7 Ethernet cable. I am selling because I have upgraded to a Synergistic Research Galileo UEF Ethernet cable. There are several positive reviews of the dCBL-CAT7 on Audiophile Style. Jay Luong of Audio Bacon had the following to say about it: "The SOtM dCBL-CAT7 gives you a much more vibrant and textured presentation. It’s expansive, vivid, visceral, and gives each component of the song its own body which is its greatest strength. It unravels the complexity of all recordings while still maintaining surreal musicality and balance. I honestly think the cable is flawless for audio fidelity. Spatial cues are more apparent. You could actually hear which venue the recording was done in." https://audiobacon.net/2017/03/16/sotm-dcbl-cat7-review/ Details: Item: SOtM dCBL-CAT7 Ethernet Cable Length: 2.5 meters Condition: Excellent (8/10) MSRP: $600 Asking: $350 Included: Original box and packing materials Terms: Payment via PayPal or Zelle Buyer pays actual shipping cost International buyers pay actual shipping cost and international PayPal fees
  23. Hi ALWAYS LEARNING: :

I have been wondering about getting an ethernet cable that would be ideal to connect the B-side of my etherregen to my metrum Acoustics Ambre Roon endpoint.  Currently I have a 1 meter cable matters Cat8 RJ45 cable doing the job, but I have been wondering whether I cannot do better than that. I have read the posting about ethernet cables on whatsbestfoum, to which you referred me, and I am intrigued by the SOtM dCBL Cat7 cable. That is not only because I have heard good things about that cable, but also because I have already replaced the RJ45 cable inside the Metrum Ambre with an SOtM dCBL Cat6 (High grade, Lan Port) cable, and have enjoyed the results very much.

I am sort of seeking some last piece of encouragement about the dCBL Cat7 cable, and the difference it might make before pulling the trigger given what a substantial investment it is going to be.  I want it to bring enhancements to the SQ of my system, and I was dead set on the dCBL cat7 because  the folks at Crux Audio (the USA SOtM store) also think it would be the best cable to complement the dCBL CAT6 (HG LP) inside the Ambre.  I guess the only thing that is giving me pause is what some of the posters on the Whatsbestforum say when comparing the dCBL Cat7 to the Shunyata Sigma, which I do not think I can afford at this time anyway.  For now, I am inclined to going with the SOtM dCBL Cat7, provided it will bring noticeable improvements as compared to the Cable Matters Cat8 cable I have connecting the B side of the Etherregen to my Metrum Ambre.

If you have any related insights that might help me decide, one way or the other, they'll be really helpful.  Thanks. Patrick

Sorry for the super long delay in responding to your message -- I just don't check for messages very often. You've probably made your decision on ethernet cables a long time ago, but if you are looking for encouragement to choose the SOtM dCBL Cat7, I would say that the two I have in my system have been well worth the $1000 investment. In directly comparing the Shunyata Sigma, the two were pretty darn close, but I ultimately preferred the tonality I got with the SOtM. And it is almost half the price. Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for responding, although I did decide to order the dCBL Cat7, and I expect to receive it in less than a month from now.  It is nice to know that I did not make the wrong choice.

      Thanks again.

  24. Man, I couldn't come up with a Topic name without it being a paragraph. LOL. I have an ethernet cable from my router to my Aqvox AQ-Switch SE. Then ethernet to my NUC, and then USB into the DAC. I can understand hearing different sound quality when I stream Tidal and Qobuz when changing ethernet cables, or plugging the Aqvox from my Hubbell to Furetech outlets. But why would I also hear a difference when playing files from the SSD in my NUC? When playing local files, the only thing that is traveling via ethernet are my commands telling my NUC what to play via my iPad , but the music goes only travels USB, as opposed to streaming which first travels ethernet before it hits the NUC and DAC. Thanks!
  25. I'm planning to make some ethernet cables using Telegartner MFP8 568B connector + ViaBlue EP-7 cables, but I have a doubt, it is better to connect the cable shield to the Telegartner connector or not? Any thoughts on that? Thank you in advance.
