  3. ^^ Well said. While I am a proponent of LPSs and isolation generally (transformer or fiber-based), I am not so much a believer in consumer networking products and their functionality that when touched by 'audiophile' marketing-speak, price inflation and aesthetics will somehow morph them into greatness over their bland counterparts. I won't even touch Ethernet cables; not because I am a bona-fide skeptic, but because I neither know enough nor experimented enough to constructively comment or have experienced little-to-no meaningful effect when I did switch the few out for others.
  4. Unrelated to recent posts, but I thought I'd follow up from the exchange a few days ago regarding the TP-Link MC110CS FMCs in my system. About as plug-and-play as you can get, save I had to reboot my modem for everything to shake hands. I tried them with the cheapish regulated linear Jameco 5v adapters for a couple of days and am relatively comfortable in reporting that I noticed a subjective change in my system. With the FMCs, there is a subtle but noticeable change in the presentation, and one I happen to really like. What's not subjective is the lack of noise; or, a further impr
  5. HI @jabbr! Wouldn't that translate, then, to the last leg of my query: from switch to LAN cable that goes to the wall jack (this is the closest route to my streamer as it can get)? There's the potential to bring all of this directly into the listening room and go from wall jack, chain of FMC components, to streamer, but I wanted to avoid that because of the potential for LPS/power supply noise; that is greatly mitigated downstairs by plugging those into the strip that goes into the Topaz IT. I figure last leg mentioned above accomplishes the same as what you're saying, albeit from a dist
  6. I've been reading this thread in particular with wide interest. To circle back to the original idea, rather than focus on the eR and modules, I'm going to give the FMC route a try but have a simple question about recommended best placement. My network setup is pretty straightforward, if not slightly different than many. I have a dedicated listening room with four separate 20a dedicated lines—all on the third floor. My networking components all reside in a utility room in the basement two floors away; we'll say about a 50ft distance if we go by the run of Ethernet from there throug

  14. @Superdad, is that a Furman unit or one of the Niagaras? Not certain about it, either. I looked into AQ Niagara when I was setting up my system before moving into our new house, but went with a PS Audio Power Regenerator instead. I respect Garth a lot, and have had discussions and even interviewed Bill Low on a couple of occasions back when I was doing feature article work (and own mostly AQ power cords and ICs), so really wanted to support a good 'last step' in providing clean power to my system, even with dedicated 20a lines. Ultimately, regeneration made more sense to me; I didn't want to e
  15. Now that was funny! I guess there's no subjective water pressure improvement with that kind of experiment. Ah, the Japanese and their toilet seats. Thanks for the laugh.
