  1. @Miska Could use some help. Recently I bought an additional HQP license to use HQP in a separate room from my server, which is now Euphony + HQP Embedded. HQP Desktop in my separate room will run on a Windows computer. I downloaded HQP but I get a message, “NAA output adapter not found”, and I can’t select my dac which is an allo Revolution. Is there anything obvious I’m missing? I made sure to select “allow control from network”. I tried disabling my firewalls. As a side note, the reason I do not want to stream upsampled dat
  2. OK all set. What I did not understand is that you have to buy the Euphony license first and then you can load to Optane. Getting Optane set up was confusing because I had to go into bios, enable SATA, enable Optane and then select “not RST controlled” for RAID support. I write this down here for other non-technical people like me. I’m finding that I can’t upsample to DSD 256 Asdm7ec with Euphony, even though I can upsample to this setting with windows. Euphony still giving me better SQ though.
  3. @Miska using HQPe in Euphony, is there an option to select multicore, and to do so in the same way one would with Desktop (ie grayed or checked?) I am on the :8089 web interface and can’t find a button for multicore.
  4. I’m using a trial version of Euphony and am unable to get HQP to see either of my NAA devices - a sms200 and an allo usbridge. Any thoughts why that might be? Euphony finds the NAA name just fine, but not the NAA device. I’ve checked that NAA is enabled on both.
  5. ... also, it looks like there is this thing called Intel Optane for best SQ - assuming I go forward with Euphony should I buy that and then install from the USB drive? Or stick with regular M2 drive? I saw a post here about installing the trial software directly onto an optane drive but it requires a linux computer which I don’t have.
  6. A few issues and questions as I'm trying out Euphony before purchasing: 1) With HQP Embedded, is multi-core an option? I do not see it anywhere. I can get DSD256 ASDM7EC ext2 through Windows Server, but not through Euphony, and I think it's because I can't find a multi-core option. 2) I'm getting a strange percussive digital hash sound out of my directly connected speakers; sounds like about 300-400 beats per minute, doesn't seem to be a ground hum. When I press "shuffle" in Roon it gets louder briefly before the album plays. I don't hear it in my other speakers that are
  7. When using HQP through Roon, my system has recently stopped playing more than 2 songs in a row. The scroll bar at the bottom also does not track with the music - it doesn't move, while music plays. I've tried restarting, switching dacs. Anyone run into the same or have suggestions? Roon by itself works OK. Also, less of an issue, but I can't seem to use very high rates of streaming through my local home network without getting glitches, despite adjusting buffer sizes (e.g., DSD 512). I see data streaming at a rate of ~50MB/sec, and my switches are all rated at 100. I am wonde
  8. I have had my Allo Revolution set up for a few days, and have been doing close A/B'ing through my preamp. My setup is a custom server with JCAT USB XE --> Dac (Allo powered by Shanti) --> Schiit Freya S --> AHB2 -->Abyss / Ascend Sierra 2 EX. Super resolving. If there's a change, I hear it. I'm upsampling to DSD512 in HQP, poly-sinc-ext and ASDM7. I've been sufficiently impressed to post my $4,000 R2R dac for sale. I hadn't been listening to that much classical in the past year I've used this R2R as my main dac, and I think this is likely because, while it packs a
  9. That was it - I had the dac enabled in Roon. Problem fixed when I disabled. Thanks!!
  10. @Miska and any others who might run into this - I think that I have isolated the issue - after verifying that DSD works correctly with three dacs and using HQP on another computer, I returned to my computer server running Windows Server 2019. I tried to play a DSD file directly in HQP, and I couldn't get it start. Then I stopped the Roon Server processes on my server - viola, HQP started sending DSD to my dac. So I'm fairly confident that the issue is due to Roon Server not playing nice with HQP. Actually, now I recall that I updated Roon a month or two ago, and that's approximately when t
  11. I replaced the cable and am finding fewer incidences of this happening, from a few per day to one every other day. Thank you
  12. Sorry for delayed response. I’m having trouble with both a Denafrips Terminator and a Toppimg D90. Really confused why this would have stopped working suddenly.
  13. Hey @Miska or others who might know - 2 things that I'm stumped on - 1) I can't get DSD to play from an AISO backend, but with NAA it works. This is especially confusing because I've been converting to DSD for months with no issue - all of a sudden it just stopped working. I switched out the DAC - same thing. I also downloaded a DSF file and tried playing in HQP Client - no dice. Weird, huh? 2) Recently, I'm getting blasted by extremely loud distortion at random times. This happens regardless of the dac I use.
  14. Now that the last piece of the server has arrived, the JCAT USB XE card, I thought I would share my final impressions from the build after StreamFidelity's guide inspired me earlier this year. First, I was not able to get AudiophileOptimizer to work on my build at all. This was odd because I used the exact same components as StreamFidelity, except for a slightly cheaper version of the motherboard, and a slight variant in the Corsair RAM. I made sure all the drivers were updated, but nevertheless each time I ran Audiophile Optimizer I encountered severe latency issues that were
  15. Received the card. It appears to be doing just what I had hoped: an improvement over my motherboard’s usb which was somewhat flabby and diffuse. For the past several months I had found myself preferring the tightness of my SPDIF connection (via allo Digione) over the super upsampled sounds from my motherboard’s USB. Initial impressions, but I feel like I’m getting the tightness of my SPDIF without the slight treble glare. Look forward to developing a more refined sense of this card as it burns in.
  16. @allo, I'm having the same issue. Intermittent popping using a USBridge and Shanti.
  17. Hi Marcin, curious if the the clocks arrived and if you have an idea of ship dates. Thank you
  18. For curiosity's sake. Based on JCAT's Scenario 1 Scheme here: https://jcat.eu/featured/net-card-femto/ And after reading the "Novel way to massively improve..." thread on this site.
  19. I've searched all through the forums, can't find a solution to my problem, am wondering if anyone here knows what to do: I have a JCAT Network card that I've set up on my single-box computer with HQP and RoonServer, in Windows Server 2019. When I bridge the ethernet ports on the network card and connect this way to either of my endpoints (Allo Digione and Allo USBridge), neither one is recognized in HQP. HQP does recognize these endpoints when they are connected in a non-bridged manner, to a switch connected to my router. It's only when I bridge that I
  20. Whoops.. needed to add an IP to the Network Bridge Adapter. Good article - https://www.windowscentral.com/how-set-and-manage-network-bridge-connection-windows-10 However I can't get HQPlayer to recognize my endpoint, despite verifying that it's now connected to my network
  21. Could use some help getting my JCAT Network card bridged correctly. Here's what I've done and what happens: Installed the network card on a Windows Server 2019, using a LP4 connector to a 6pin molex attached to a HDplex DC-ATX (attached to the area on the DC-ATX designated "SATA" and not "PCIe" since I need a 5V input and not 12V.) Both USB ports are attached to my switch; both are functioning. So here I go into network settings, select both adapters, right click and select "bridge". I get an error that says "an unexpected error occurred while connecting
  22. Hey @TomWoB I have a Denafrips Terminator. Yes, same dac. The USB input on the dac is regarded as the best input. I think the nice silver digital cable I’m using from Requisite Audio makes a big difference too; I’m using a Curious Evolved for USB.
  23. Review Part 2: Software and Sound The hardware side of this build was a breeze compared to the software. The first frustration I faced is that I was not able to register my copy of Windows 10 Pro, requiring a call to Microsoft customer service and about an hour of my time to resolve. In the end, the rep had to give me a new product key since the digital license didn’t work. There are apparently two ways of registering Windows 10 that are determined based on the distribution channel through which you’ve acquired Windows. The entire approach is madness. The second fru
  24. I have had the opposite experience as the OP in my system with my ears. When I added a Digione Signature, it was the cleanest sound I had ever experienced, especially with a high quality silver digital cable. I have a DIY music server going into my Verizon fios router, and then into the Digione - yes, probably more to optimize here, but even with this setup my system sounds better than I've ever heard. I like the Digone Sig much more than my SMS-200 neo, although that endpoint is not being fed from a linear power source, which is also hugely important - I am very glad for having
