  1. ... maybe I have not expressed it correctly - what I meant was that if a DSP update is necessary it will be done as one part of the T+A firmware update. i.e. The DSP firmware is included in the firmware update file. After updating its own firmware the main controller will check if the DSP firmware from the update file is newer than the installed DSP firmware and if so it will update the DSP.

  3. @sbenyo is correct with his assumption that the update of the DSP software is part of the T+A firmware update. But: A) Regarding the DSP update: 1.) The DSP is not in the signal path for DSD signals. So the DSD performance of the DAC8DSD is not affected in any way by the DSP software. 2.) DSP is only for upsampling PCM signals (all incoming PCM is upsampled to 352.8 / 384 kSps. 3.) The 4 upsampling algorithms (FIR short, FIR long, Bezier polnominal interpolation, Bezier/IIR) are unchanged since production start. So there is no reason and no need to do a firmware

I know, that T+A is constantly monitoring the progress of the new Amanero firmware. As soon as this new firmware is mature and found to be working without any glitches with Windows and Linux, I am sure that T+A will release a new USB receiver firmware for the DAC8DSD.   5. 2006be11 is currently only available as original Amanero firmware (with Amanero VID/PID numbers). To use this firmware with Windows you need to use the Amanero Windows driver - the driver from the T+A website will only work with firmware having a T+A VID/PID. Using the Amanero driver 2006be11 should work with Windows and Linux - but I have not done extensive testing. So maybe other users can post some of their experience ? I will do some testing as soon as I find the time - I will then report my findings.

  7. HDMI is mainly intended as an option to connect DVD-A and SACD capable BluRay players. HDMI-ARC is just an additional feature of the HDMI receiver at no extra cost - so why not make it available ?
  8. In 'NOS' PCM mode digital input data is directly fed to the converter stages of the DACs. External oversampling (in the DSP in front of the DAC chips) and internal oversampling filters in the DACs are bypassed. In this way it is possible to directly feed the DACs with externally oversampled signals at 768 kSps and use an external oversampling of choice.
  9. It is possible to use the XLR out on the front panel as a pre-out. It is a very high quality analog out with 8 Ohms output resistance only - perfect for driving long cables to active speakers.
  10. Well, network streaming is not built in - but we have a USB power output jack delivering 5A/1A continous, 2A peak which could be used for a tiny ethernet to USB bridge or NAA.
  11. Well, in fact the three headphone outputs are all analog...😉 But don't get it wrong: This device is not intended to be a standard DAC with standard line or pre-amp outputs. It was designed as a no-compromise Headphone DAC - purely and solely with the aim to get the best out of the very best headphones. Who is looking for a DAC with XLR/RCA outputs to drive amplifiers/pre-amps will be better off with a DAC8DSD which has many of the features in common with the HA 200 but intended to drive amplifiers.

  16. Yes, I can confirm BE10 is stable and works well with Linux. BUT: For this Amanero version a new Windows driver is required and this Windows driver still has some issues. This is why BE10 at this moment can not be used for series production devices. For Linux users it is not difficult re-programming the Amanero chip to BE10 (or later) provided the DAC8DSD has firmware 2.6 or higher. For DAC8DSD with older firmware I would recommend using a T+A MP8 streamer and let it do the firmware upgrade to the latest version. For those without a MP8 (and if the T+A
  17. High rate DSD (such as DSD512 or DSD1024) is possible with the SD(V)3100HV in two ways: 1.) Direct USB connection between server PC (Windows or Linux based) and the SD(V)3100HV, using the USB input of the SD(V)3100HV. 2.) Ethernet connection between server and SD(V)3100HV using the NAA built into the SD(V)3100HV. In your case (solution 2) HQ Player needs to be installed on the server additionally to roon.   18. DSD1024 over ethernet works with SD3100HV and SDV3100HV. You only need to have HQ player installed on your computer, then you can select the SD(V)3100HV as a NAA endpoint. DSD1024 via the USB input also works if you want to connect your computer directly.

  20. If you go to the top of the repository (https://github.com/OE333/DAC8-Service-Tool) you will see a "Clone or download" button. Use this and it will give you the choice to download the complete repository as a .zip file. This will give you the whole contents of the repository including the firmware file. But you could also copy the code and paste it into a text file. In this case make sure the file has the same name (UPD_DAC8_DSD_V_270.txt) as the original file and make sure to save it as a plain text file.
  21. just a little hint: If you have access to a T+A MP8 streamer (maybe your dealer has one in his shop) then you can let the MP8 do the firmware upgrade and you don't have to worry about anything.

  23. Hi all, as @twluke posted some days ago there is a new firmware verion from Amanero for the uSB receiver. I have done a lot of testing during the last weeks and I can confirm twluke's comment that this firmware seems to be stable and is working without any problems for me. I have a report from one beta tester about some drop-out problems but this might well be a CPU load problem of his server. We are investigating this. Generally speaking the new firmware is a big step forward as far as Linux compatibility is concerned. Last week I started testing the new A
  24. No, with upgrade I mean an upgrade of existing MP3000HV to bring most of the features of the successor model MP3100HV to the older models. This upgrade will mean a complete exchange of the digital processing board and the streaming module. Details about the MP3000HV upgrade program will be announced in the near future by T+A.
