PI Audio UberBuss. This has got to be one of the best power conditioners around -- especially at it's price! Neutral and provides awesome dynamics. Includes the upgraded, hand-polished "UberPuerto" receptacles. $1300 new, I'm selling for $875 plus shipping. From PI Audio: "UberBUSS is a power filtration unit quite unlike others on the market. It is filtration only. There are no MOVs or other suppression devices to color the neutrality and introduce noise into the circuitry. There are essentially three components in the UberBUSS. First, there is a reactive filter that absorbs and de-correlates the incoming AC noise. The filter has three sections: one for the H - N - G legs of the power. This leads to a Power Factor Correction network that increases the available power under the curve for enhanced dynamics - both micro and macro. Then there are AfterFilters on the receptacles to do more targeted noise reduction. This mainly keeps noise from the attached gear back-feeding into the main core of the UberBUSS. The UberBUSS is current limited ONLY by the IEC power inlet. The main core will handle 40A all day long. There are no inductors used in the BUSSes. End to end inductance is < .003mH. End to end resistance is typically < 0.0035 ohms. This will vary with the inlet/outlet configurations. The result is a dead black background... silence from a noise floor that is better than 125dB down. Enhanced dynamics coupled with the low noise floor reveal details never heard before. Neutrality was and is the design concept behind the UberBUSS. First, do no harm! Smooth neutrality is the sonic signature of the UberBUSS."

Hi,   I might be selling my DC3.  I got it for my Melco S100 switch which I'm considering selling as well.

  8. Ray, From a dedicated line, I'm using a P.I Audio UberBuss passive conditioner in front of my amp and server (Extreme) and a Plixir BAC (balanced transformer) in front of my DAC. I have a Topaz laying around doing nothing, but wondered if it would be theoretically useful in front of my Network which is on another circuit . (Topaz > modem > Sonore OM > fiber > Extreme). Your thoughts appreciated!
  9. Nice job on the first two podcasts! The Sound Quality of the cast is a nice bonus as well! One suggestion is maybe let your guests go off the deep end a little on the details of their tech. There are a lot of nerdy people in your audience who would appreciate it.☺️ I, for one, love hearing audio designers talk about the tech-- even if I only understand a fraction of it. I also second the request to ask the Roon guys about sound quality at Roon. It doesn't have to be confrontational! But it's obviously the central focus of Audiophilia and their are many who are reluctantly l
  10. I'd encourage you to try to take criticisms of the writing on your site constructively (as they are intended) instead of defensively. At more traditional publications, Stereophile for instance, the writing first goes to someone who edits and guides the writer to produce the best work possible. I don't know how it works at Audiophile Style... I think a lot of the material on AS is pretty awesome, btw!
  11. This really comes off to me mostly an Advertorial with not a lot of substance. Danny makes it sound like Oswald Mills is the only speaker maker keeping the flame alive for craftsmanship with wood. Not true, as the comments above illustrate. And, should we be impressed that some "Hollywood peeps" are into to OMA? I think OMA's designs are really interesting and are deserving of more than a hyperbolic pr piece.
  12. I found Danny to make the same error (in my opinion) with his Coffee Talk interview with David Wilson. Fanboy from start to finish. I think it's great that he has such admiration for David and Wilson Audio, but it just comes on so thick as to border on idolatry. Maybe try to "tone it down just a little bit" as David Wilson himself said at the beginning of the interview.
  13. I agree. Wilson speakers have always struck me as the product of advanced engineering with crudely sophomoric aesthetics. The best audio design is where Form and Function are aligned to create something more. Unfortunately, Wilson is capable of only half the equation.
  14. Are we talking about upgrade Build 555 as the Great Disruptor? I haven't heard this one as I stayed with Build 537, which with Emiles modifications at the time, sounds pretty great to me. I'm scheduled for the latest Taiko master tweak for Monday, so maybe I won't experience as big an improvement as others who are coming from 555. I expect it will be better (expectation bias anyone?), but am also a little cautious after the universal descriptions of increased vividness. My system is already pretty high on the vivid scale. If "vivid" translates to more natural and dynamic, t
  15. You're right, of course, I don't care what you listen to-- just a reaction. I would probably expect a reaction if I said something provocative like "all Opera is trash." I like opera btw! Also, electric guitar is not confined to Rock music. A great example of solid body electric bass guitar is Steve Swallow with Carla Bley on the album Andando de Tiempo. Any album by electric guitarist Bill Frissel who uses different Fender solid bodies would be hard to find offensive.
  16. You say electric guitar to you "is one of the most offensive sounds on earth" as if there is one sound from the instrument. The sounds from electric guitars are as varied as the many different guitars and musicians who have dedicated their lives to mastering them. As someone who purports to have a deep background in music appreciation this seems to illustrate some major self-imposed blind spots. But who knows, maybe I have some too-- I don't care for the sound of electric pianos. Even so, Chick Corea and Joe Zawinul managed to make them sing.
  17. Comparing a bagpipe to electric guitar.... that's a reach. The electric guitar is as varied and fascinating as any musical instrument I can think of.
  18. Ray, it sounds like you see a possible upgrade path to the current Extreme usb implementation, as per mention of trying out the cat usb card? https://jcat.eu/featured/usb-card-xe/ I am currently using an Ideon 3r between Extreme and DAC to extend the length of short usb cables (Sablon and Intona). https://ideonaudio.com/product/3r-usb-renaissance-mk2/ Do you think the Extremes current usb card stands to be complimented by the Ideon or might I be better served with a longer usb cable? Speculative question, I know...
  19. Thanks for the interview, but I'm sorry to say I found it very disappointing. For me, it had an excessive Fan-Boy tenor. How many times did Danny say "Amazing!" after Mr. Wilson comments? (I didn't count but I'd guess over 20 times?) It came off like an Info-mercial for Wilson Audio. So much more of interest could have been discussed. Take a listen to the Audio Stream interviews. They might be a good guide for improving the next interview?! Finally, I have no doubt that Wilson speakers are some of the best out there in AudiophiliaLand, but personally, it was hard
