    The newest topping one has DSD filter switching implemented, along with the DSD direct mode in DAC mode. Newest revision adi2 with AKM 4493 still has the 50/150khz filters I believe. The PCM filters of the AKM4499 though aren't particularly good specs wise with the sharpest filters having only -95dbfs attenuation.

    Hmm maybe 37khz at DSD256 is now 150khz from old AKM 4490?

    Hmm so 37khz would be 148khz at DSD256 while 65khz would be 260khz at DSD256, does this mean that the RME at 150khz is at 600khz at DSD256?

    I see this filters are scaled up right, so it becomes either 37khz x 3, or 65khz x 3 at DSD256 right?

    I see that the new AKM 4499 has DSD filters at Filter1 (fc = 37 kHz, DSD64 mode) Filter2 (fc = 65 kHz, DSD64 mode) do you still recommend using 37khz, or 65khz, i remember that you yourself use 150khz on the RME dac.

    Try the Allo usbridge sig image with the older kernel, that fixed the soft popping issues for me, seems that the newer kernel.has pops on all of my dacs.

    So would for example maxing out the volume on a headphone amp to effectively bypass the volume pot, and attenuate digitally be okay, or would you recommend setting the pot to 12 o'clock?

    Wouldn't -26dB+ digital attenuation if the analog noise floor is at -120dB reach the 96dB SNR of 16 bit CD content, and what about 24 bit content wouldn't any digital attenuation there reduce possible information?

Windows scheduler has always been kind of stupid though, it's not even truly SMT-aware,, also could just be that due to windows quirks what works great for Linux/Mac works worse for windows, it also doesn't help that they dont really have a QA team anymore for windows... We can see in benchmarks also that windows struggles with higher amount of threads compared to Linux.
  10. Quite possible that you may need to do two different build configurations one for windows, other Linux/Mac.

    I've been listening to the topping D90 for some days now without upsampling to get a feel for the sound signature, I must say topping has really improved their implementation in this DAC to make it sound this good, at this price point. The review that soundnews did is almost spot on, soundstage/layering is better than my x sabre pro while detail is comparable, this is with the USB input directly connected so the implementation there is pretty good. I think in a day, or two I will start experimenting with both PCM, and DSD upsampling again on this DAC. The manufacturer has also confirmed that DSD modulator bypass is used in DAC only mode so you can probably put it in your recommendations list whenever you aquire one, and listened to one for awhile. @Miska

    They are gonna change it again next year to have shared unified L3 cache at least for the ryzen variants possible threadripper too.

    @MiskaHmm do you maybe have a build with DSP thread pools set to 4, or more like on the 4.1.0.1 build i want to see if that's maybe the reason why it's more stable for me.

    Thanks miska! this looks great I was still using 4.1.0.1 as that one was the most stable for my ryzen.
