Jussi, is there a fix yet for PCM 1.536 and DSD 1024? I just received a Holo May and I'm only getting PCM 768 @ 24 bit. No 32 bit either. While HQPe has options to select those settings the NAA isn't supporting it. 2021/04/17 20:03:04 NAA output connect to 192.168.1.6:43210 [ipv4] 2021/04/17 20:03:04 NAA output network endpoint: Holo Audio UAC2.0 Gen2 Enhanced: USB Audio (hw:CARD=Enhanced,DEV=0) 2021/04/17 20:03:04 NAA output discovered 1 Network Audio Adapters + 2021/04/17 20:03:04 NAA output connect to 192.168.1.6:43210 [ipv4] 2021/04/17 20:03:04 NAA output network for
  2. I can't speak for the Spring 2 or 3 KTE. I had the Spring 1 KTE v2 with the updated USB. I just received the May yesterday and good God, out of the box it's remarkable. I also have a Chord Hugo TT2, and I've had a DAVE in house to compare. The May is just outstanding. The soundstage width, height and depth is huge by comparison. I say huge and by that I mean the sound envelops you. There is clarity, definition and most importantly realism to the instruments that I've not heard with these other dacs. I'm excited to hear how it sounds after burn in.
  3. Thanks, that would be along the lines of what I'm looking for. If only their cloud storage was more than 1 TB.
  4. Even with buffering is it unlistenable? Or are you better off with a tunnel and using something like JRiver to connect to your home NAS?
  5. Thanks for the writeup. It looks like prices have come down and stabilized with multiple offerings. My preference is to backup to a platform like Backblaze or Carbonite, but I haven't done this yet. Does anyone know if it's possible to map a drive to these services or connect a player like Roon to that cloud storage? It would be great if I could use it as a source and not just a backup space.
  6. I believe it is just the retail versions. There will continue to be pro Optane releases. Still obtainable. Have you heard anything different recently?
  7. This is the motherboard I built my office PC with. JCAT USB XE to Hugo TT2 to Omega CAMs and a Rel sub. EtherRegen feeding it from the Ubiquiti router. Power supply has been unaddressed as it's a Seasonic Prime. I need a better power option that can drive the 16 core AMD 3950X beast. It sounds great as it is now but I know I can improve it. I was thinking about adding the Solarflare or JCAT Net XE but am on the fence. This is the closest thing I've seen to an audiophile consumer board. I highly recommend it if AMD is your thing.
  8. The data is the data. Nothing gets added, although some people will tell you ripping on a quiet PC sounds better than on a noisy one. YMMV. There are a lot of variables that can impact SQ. Noise is one. Jitter is another. Latency is another. Reducing all of those to as little as possible has been a goal of digital music reproduction. I don't know how the quality of RAM impacts SQ but probably by one of the things I mentioned. I don't know enough about it personally. If the network is on it can create unwanted noise.
  9. It isn't about the data. It's not the song cached in RAM. It's the noise generated by the NIC during playback. Unless you can validate the NIC is not utilized at all, which is what bringing it down does. If the NIC is utilized for anything during listening it can generate noise.
  10. network activity during playback can negatively impact SQ. disabling the network during playback stops that activity. this can be tested by disconnecting a network cable or disabling the nic.
  11. Does anyone have experience with importing an .m3u playlist into Stylus? I can create a playlist natively within Stylus but am having a challenge getting it to use an imported one.
  12. I've had issues with the USB XE and an Uptone LPS-1.2 @ 1.1A. I would recommend more than 1A. Since using a PHD SR4T @ 2.5A I've had no issues.
  13. Crunch time is unfortunately a very common theme. I worked for a software developer who had an annual release schedule. Every year like clockwork, in the last couple months before release, people would be sleeping in the office night after night. It favored the young and unmarried devs. There have been several lawsuits and I know of one in which the plaintiff won.
  14. Some good news to report. Gapless playback is now working as intended with HQPe. Željko, Jussi and I worked through all the issues. Željko has stated if anyone else would like these changes made, and be considered a beta tester along with me, to let him know. Some things I learned along the way are: In Stylus, "Convert non-DSD formats" doesn't need to be selected for PCM. The wording of that selection is misleading. This selection causes all songs to be converted to wav before playback and conversion bit-depth is fixed (does not take into account the original bit-de
  15. I believe he has this working on my system. I did verify that it works, but have another issue, so almost there. Željko or any software vendor doesn't have to do anything they don't want. We as customers would like this functionality, so if he wants to provide it, his existing customers will be happier and stay with his product. He should also gain new customers by including this functionality. I think when you decide to incorporate another piece of software with your own, you make the decision then to include all of the expected functionality of that other software.
