  1. Last quotation I had was 3'200 EUR. Not sure whether this includes European VAT or not. So 3'200 +/- 20% probably is the ballpark where it should play. But most important is 'how will it sound'. What is a little bit surprising is the lack of recent enthusiasm about this technology on the German forum aktives-hoeren.de • Forum anzeigen - Bausteine für aktives HiFi They have been very excited about Mutec products, external clocks, aso... for months, and they are very quiet now. Is it calm before storm and a deluge of enthusiasm arround Munich announcements ? Will see, Munich is in less
  2. Well BNC connection has the reputation to be better than AES/EBU in many cases. That's what I read anyway. Pb is that there are not so many such connections on HiFi equipment (I do not have any on my Amethyst apart from clock input, neither do I have any on the Devialet), apart from Mutec which is more a pro-audio than HiFi to start with, and where BNC is mainly used for clock input/output.
  3. Hi Westy, I didn't get you had made this test with MC-3+ USB in between. If USB is an absolute must for you, the best I tried is this one afi(s) - USB module. You might want to have a look at it. What makes it a must try in my opinion is the perfect galvanic isolation it offers, and again removes the need for all the Intona aso... Just my 2c.
  4. Hi Westy, You have probably read that I have two Mutec MC3+ USB. For room correction purposes I recently changed my source, which was a Mac Mini (USB) -> 2xMC3+ USB (AES/EBU) -> Devialet D900 to Trinnov Amethyst (AES/EBU) -> MC3+ USB (AES/EBU) -> Devialet D900. I enjoyed very much the opportunity to get rid of the USB interface. I am streaming the music which is still sitting on the MacMini through the Airport interface (free of any HF interference). The Trinnov is equipped with a linear power supply, and enjoys very limited HF interference as well. In your case, I wonder
  5. Have you tried Lumin ? I am using JRiver as a server, BubbleUPnP server to promote my Trinnov Amethyst to the function of OpenHome renderer, and Lumin to access my music, which is seen on a proxy media server on the LAN as well as Qobuz (could be Tidal as well). Functionality and stability of Lumin are much better than other ones IMHO. EDIT : my answer probably is not the right one as you are looking for an OS X app. The solution I am using is running on OS X (JRiver and BubbleUPnP server) but the control (Lumin) is on iOS.
  6. I am using BubbleUPnP Server to stream music from Qobuz, and play music served by JRiver on my Mac. I have defined the DLNA Server options in JRiver to upsample the music played to 24/192. This works great when the music is played with BubbleUPnP Server/Lumin controller. I could not find any option to obtain the same result when playing music streamed from Qobuz. Is there a way to upsample this music as well ? Do you have plans to provide this kind of options ? Thanks again for the great job

  8. Just a precision if you allow me : CE certification is a self-certification, ie a declaration signed by the manufacturer or the importer inside the EU that the product is compliant to a certain number of EU directives. It is not, as such, a proof that the device has passed the tests. If you expect a lab report from an independent body, TÜV label might be more appropriate. But the tests have been made on a sample provided by the manufacturer and not on your unit anyway.
  9. Hi bubblegumm, Thanks for your efforts in making Tidal and Qobuz available with bubbleupnpserver. I had a small pb this morning with the last revision of bubbleupnpserver. I installed it yesterday and it worked flawlessly for one day. I rebooted the Mac this morning, made sure that bubbleupnpserver was launched correctly, but could not connect to Qobuz and received the message "Qobuz is not available, Your DS needs to be running Davaar 29 or later' from Linn Kazoo I am using as a remote controller. Any idea why ? Thanks in advance.
  10. Totally agree with you. And even more so since the absence of DSD support is a show stopper :-)
  11. Hi One and a Half, Here you are (probably still a prototype at this stage, but gives an idea of the construction) : aktives-hoeren.de • Thema anzeigen - Acousence afi(s) und afi(s) USB I will leave up to Ralf to answer on the connections. Just a precision : the RJ-45 Ralf uses is just a way of transporting signal with lower interference and echo on the cable itself compared to AES/EBU cable. It just needs a small adapter at the end of the cable to get the appropriate connection to AES/EBU or BNC. Price for the adapter is minimal (25 EUR if not mistaken). You can also order the output c
  12. Hi Juanitox, After testing for myself, I can assure you that it does actually dispense to tweak the computer side. My MacMini is off the shelf, and it did a splendid job. Removing the HF perturbation is exactly what this device has been designed for. And it allows, IMHO, a greater flexibility in terms of choosing the player, for a price which, if you compare apple to apple (deduct the European VAT on one side, add a good LPSU on the other), is very similar. Enjoy the µR when it is available :-)
  13. The best way to go probably is to avoid USB at all ; but this is not easy to achieve is you want to stick to your Mac. Then apart from the mystery piece of HW everybody is excited about and nobody has ever heard (µR), the only sensible way, for someone who believes what he/she sees/hears, is to go with Mutec or AFI-USB. Mutec is nice but AFI-USB is better IMHO.
  14. Correct. Just try this piece of HW and you will be stunned IMHO. On top of that, Ralf Koschnicke, the owner of Acousence, is a very nice man, very competent in the field of digital music, who runs his own digitization studio. He personally cares for his customers, which is not the case at Mutec where you do not always get answers to your questions. This service is, in my opinion, a very valuable part of the customer experience :-).
  15. Hi Joel, I have a cascade of 2 MC-3+ USB I am very happy with. I had the opportunity to test the Acousence AFIS-USB. There is in my opinion no interest to stack them. The AFIS-USB (AFI-USB is the exact same if you are interested in only one input) does a perfect job alone. As stated at the beginning of this thread, and this is my understanding too, the unique restitution quality of Acousence is linked to the perfect galvanic isolation provided by the optical connections.
  16. Lucky you. This is what I get :-(
  17. To be more specific in case Damien has a look at this, Audirvana is quite systematically aborting when trying to play a 24/xxx track from Qobuz and upsample it to 24/192. This does not happen when playing 16/44.1 tracks and upsampling. This pb did not occur with 2.3.3 but started with 2.3.8.
  18. Still getting odd behavior when trying to upsample tracks from Qobuz. Even with standard 'high quality' filter settings, Audirvana 2.4 keeps aborting when playing some very standard tracks. Really not usable for me :-(
  19. Thanks Julian, looking forward to your confirmation.
  20. Hi Julian, Will the MC-3+ USB be field upgradable or will a return to factory be needed for the upgrade ?
  21. I have faced some pb with upsampling and 2.4 (Audirvana was skipping parts of the track, every now and then). I have been obliged to downgrade to 2.3 to recover normal upsampling performance. Not convinced by the new version so far :-(
  22. Hi Julien, Hope you enjoyed your holidays. I have read from someone who had carefully studied your MC-3+ (not USB) that the processing made on the signal when reclocking with an external clock might be different from the processing made when reclocking with the internal clock. Is this correct ? Could you precise if this also is the case with the MC-3+ USB ? You have largely been absent from the discussion (or the fantasies) about the possibility to use an external clock like the Ref10 to improve the SQ produced by an MC-3+ USB when processing a signal received through its USB inte
