Could you please share how to implement this playback delay in Roon? Thanks!!!

Probably somewhere in the Settings -> Audio -> Device setup

You will find something that looks like that. The Resync Delay should be the subject of your question if I'm not mistaken.

  2. Before I discovered PGGB, I was contemplating upgrading my DAC to a Tambaqui. I asked some friends who are equipped with a Tambaqui to test the PGGB files and they did not report any improvement which is not very surprising knowing that this DAC operates an internal upsampling to 3.125MHz/32 bits.

But I am so impressed with the results I have today with PGGB files on my Gustard x26-Pro that I am tempted to challenge my previous decision.

Has anyone had the opportunity to compare a Dave fed with PGGB files with a Tambaqui ?

    Thanks in advance

  3. @Zaphod Beeblebrox When HQPlayer was released in the native version of code for the M1 processor of Apple (arm64 version), I noticed a very significant improvement in speed over the Rosetta II version. Do you have any clue when the native version of Mathlab will be released on order to allow same significant improvement to be brought to PGGB running on the this M1 Mac architecture ?

On checking the official specs of the Gustard A22 - it does not specify 705.6. Only the SMSL VMV D1.

The iFi iDSD sounds great with the 32fs.

I think I will try 16fs on some similar test tunes and try them out on the Gustard A22.

Report back in a day or so.

If you look at the very bottom of this page, you will notice that A22 is specified for up to 768 kHz on the I2S/USB inputs.

    Hope this helps.

I've been reading through this thread and there are some here using a 5vdc 3a external LPS..... If a 6.3vdc LPS were to be used, would it also need to be 3A? I'm just trying to research this as I'm looking to convert my MC3+USB to and external LPS as well.

I've been advised that once done it clears up and edginess to the sound which you only really notice by its absence. Sound right up my avenue. Removal of edginess = more natural, analog like sound to me.

    Thanks in advance guys

    Hi,

I made this transformation some years ago. To the best of my knowledge, the MC-3+USB does not need 3A. It is important to not go above the 6.2v which are requested, but you should be fine with less than 1A.

Did you had a chance to compare DAVE to SDA-6 and X26pro.

I really think this is the best competition from the best in each design philosophy. :)

    Yes.

But as I tried to report, the competition was not fair.

In the sense that the SDA-6 and x-26 were fed with a music flow which was not optimal, as far as I understand what is optimal today.

My best guess is that upsampling with HQPlayer, or with Aurdirvana as @DomiJi suggests, is optimal to make the best usage of the NOS possibilities of this DAC. And, as I explained, and this is my belief, respecting the original format of music, is very important to preserve the micro-dynamics of music.

I have a lot of respect for the work achieved by Jussi with HQPlayer. But my experience is just different at this point.

Thank you very much for this information. Its funny because i made the same experience. I just want to trial the new Audirvana Studio. So i setup Windows 10 for my fanless NUC with LPS and Fidelizer/Audiophile Optimizer.

With Audirvana the music was much much more alive and full of dynamics and without any harshness.

Did i understand you correct that you dont use audirvana anylonger because you can not setup Individual upsampling for PCM and DSD? This is now possible with Audirvana Studio.

You can upsample PCM to 384khz and DSD to 512 or 256.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes it's interesting to notice this kind of synchronisation between our respective quests.

I might give a trial to Audirvana again and thank you for pointing this out. I have to confess that I have a personal affection for the solution offered by HQPlayer alone. Thanks anyway.

Topping D90 sold out because of AKM fire forced me to pull the trigger on a SDA6 Advanced.  According to Aoshida's ebay site, it's their last one.

The last one of what ? T90 or SDA-6 ?

I had questioned Liter from Singxer earlier this year about the incidence of AKM fire and he had mentioned that they had some inventory of AK4499, enough to face demand as they forecasted at this stage.

Re T90, you might have noticed that they will release a new version, the T90SE, based on ESS9038Pro this year. The prototype of this DAC shows absolutely stellar performance based on measurements: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=https://www.l7audiolab.com/f/topping-d90se-dac-prototype/. Remains to be seen how it will sound in production...

You can check the log file for errors after scanning. Folders that encounter errors during scan are skipped.

I noticed a mention of the volume being mounted "read-only" in the log file. I mounted the volume with "read and write" permissions and this solved most of the problem. Not sure why.

Also, I still have some .wav files not recognised, for an undefined error:

I'm no expert on HQP, but I had the same thing happening to me once. One particular album was not being imported. It turns out that one of the tracks was corrupted. Once I found my backup and replaced the track, I was able to import.

My guess is that HQP is very album focused. So if one of the tracks in the album folder can't be imported, then the entire album is not imported. I also have a vague recollection that somewhere it was mentioned that all the tracks in an album have to be the same format - I suppose like all .flac or all .dsf.

Thank you for your reply. I will double check, but I have no problem playing those albums from Roon or Audirvana.

Albums were purchased from Qobuz and downloaded in AIFF format, like other albums I am purchasing there.

    Any other idea ?

  11. Hi,

Recent developments have driven me to reconsider the usage of Roon and try to use HQPlayer on its own. I am busy looking at HQPlayer Library which I never investigated before.
My music files are sitting on a NAS on my network.
I noticed that some of my albums have been perfectly identified by the scan while some others, sitting in neighbouring directories, have not. I repeated the operation 2 or 3 times without success.
Are there any specific recommendations I should be aware of setting up this part of the application ? Is there any way to debug the behaviour of this feature ?
    Thanks

Hello, since yesterday I also own a Singxer SDA-6 Plus Dac. I now have some questions:

    - How can I recognize the Plus Version?

    - which firmware is the newest?

    - how is the nos mode with the HQPlayer  to configure?

    - which modulators and filters are the best

    - which modulators and filters with DSD512 are possible?

    Best regards

    Wolfgang

    Mac Mini M1  + HQPlayer --> NAA --> USB --> Singxer SDA-6 Plus

    Hi Wolfgang,

    Congrats on your acquisition :)

I personally have a preference for the AMSDM7 512+fs and DSD 512 when running this DAC. But I am also very happy with ASDM7EC and DSD 256.

Yes, I have put the SW OFF (thank you for this suggestion) and the sound was OK (but you loose one of the major benefit) and that is why I will send the unit for replacement (or even cancel my order - I did not take any decision yet).

Can you please try without external clock - SW 8 ON and see if you notice the problem?

Yes it works with the PLL locked by me. No problem detected.

@SwissBearYes, thank you for testing. Did you noticed any noise-floor increase when DoP is detected. In my case I have noticed on speaker first and checked with headphones after that and the noise increase was very clear. I have almost decided to return it to be changed as it seams that SPDIF interface has some issues and I suspect it is not only the FW responsible. BTW, the issues with the clock is still present but only when changing from 96kHz to 44 kHz sampling rates (I was wrong saying that the it was fixed by adding delay).

Again, no issues with USB but the sound using the AES/EBU is far more musical compared to USB at least for the music I love (classical and jazz).

No, I didn't notice any adverse effect using DoP with the AES/EBU input.

For the purpose of record, as I am using an external 10 MHz clock with 75Ohm impedance, I have the switch 8 positioned to "OFF". As this switch is also involved in the PLL adjustment of the AES/EBU input, could you check with this switch to "OFF" too ?

A few ideas though, as I was myself a big fan of AES/EBU before switching back to USB when I moved to HQPlayer.

    1. AES/EBU is limiting you to file resolutions which are probably not the sweet-spot of this DAC. If you want to enjoy the best of this DAC, you might want to try HQPlayer upsampling to DSD256 or DSD512 and use the NOS mode of the DAC.

    2. One of the reasons why you do no have the same feeling of musicality with USB compared to AES/EBU might be related to galvanic isolation, where USB is notoriously difficult to handle. You might want to try other solutions like HQPlayer streaming to a well powered NAA connected to your DAC.

    3. I noticed that the USB input of the SDA-6 took longer to "open" itself up when burning in.

    Just my 2c :-)
