  1. Before I discovered PGGB, I was contemplating upgrading my DAC to a Tambaqui. I asked some friends who are equipped with a Tambaqui to test the PGGB files and they did not report any improvement which is not very surprising knowing that this DAC operates an internal upsampling to 3.125MHz/32 bits. But I am so impressed with the results I have today with PGGB files on my Gustard x26-Pro that I am tempted to challenge my previous decision. Has anyone had the opportunity to compare a Dave fed with PGGB files with a Tambaqui ? Thanks in advance
  2. @Zaphod Beeblebrox When HQPlayer was released in the native version of code for the M1 processor of Apple (arm64 version), I noticed a very significant improvement in speed over the Rosetta II version. Do you have any clue when the native version of Mathlab will be released on order to allow same significant improvement to be brought to PGGB running on the this M1 Mac architecture ?
  3. Hi Shorty, In response to your question, both are fantastic delta-sigma DACs. The SDA-6 has been designed by Singxer with the idea of using the NOS mode of the AK4499 ship in connection with HQPlayer. The x26-pro is a more classical interpretation of a DAC though it is equipped with some interesting features like the double DAC chip (one for each channel), a double power supply (one for the digital part and one for the analog part), aso… Both have a fully discrete output stage. I am mostly listening to acoustic music, a lot of strings
  4. If you look at the very bottom of this page, you will notice that A22 is specified for up to 768 kHz on the I2S/USB inputs. http://www.gustard.cn/?post_type=products&page_id=8942 Hope this helps.
  5. Just wanted to share my appreciation of this technology and of the quality of Zaphod’s support. I asked for a trial licence on Sunday, and was happy to receive it straight away. Zaphod asked about the DAC I had and underlined the fact that the Gustard x26-Pro would be a good candidate to appreciate PGGB. I was sceptical and expected no significant difference between the 16fs capabilities of the x26-Pro compared to the 8fs capabilities of my Singxer SDA-6. I was also expecting that processing files in 24 bits would be enough and that I would not need 32 bits. Zaphod took
  6. Hi, I made this transformation some years ago. To the best of my knowledge, the MC-3+USB does not need 3A. It is important to not go above the 6.2v which are requested, but you should be fine with less than 1A.
  7. Hi Simon, Friends of mine have tested the 3D-Lab Nano player connected in I2S to the SDA-6 and they were thrilled by this combo.
  8. Yes. But as I tried to report, the competition was not fair. In the sense that the SDA-6 and x-26 were fed with a music flow which was not optimal, as far as I understand what is optimal today. My best guess is that upsampling with HQPlayer, or with Aurdirvana as @DomiJi suggests, is optimal to make the best usage of the NOS possibilities of this DAC. And, as I explained, and this is my belief, respecting the original format of music, is very important to preserve the micro-dynamics of music. I have a lot of respect for the work achieved by Jussi with HQPlayer
  9. Roon is running on my NAS. HQPlayer on my Mac Mini M1.
  10. Has anyone tried off-line upsampling, like PGGB, in connexion with the SDA-6 ?
  11. Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes it's interesting to notice this kind of synchronisation between our respective quests. I might give a trial to Audirvana again and thank you for pointing this out. I have to confess that I have a personal affection for the solution offered by HQPlayer alone. Thanks anyway.
  12. A few weeks ago, Nicolas, a neighboring audiophile friend, came over to the house to let me play with his source: an Emerson Digital network player, an m-Scaler upsampler and a Chord Dave DAC. It turned out that its source gave an uncompromising lesson, especially in the micro-dynamics of music, to the ensemble that I thought was particularly well-groomed, consisting of Roon + HQPlayer, Diretta, and one of my DACs, either the Singxer SDA-6, supplied with I2S by the SU-2 interface, or the Gustard x-26 Pro. As he himself explained on my thread, listening to dynamic music,
  13. The last one of what ? T90 or SDA-6 ? I had questioned Liter from Singxer earlier this year about the incidence of AKM fire and he had mentioned that they had some inventory of AK4499, enough to face demand as they forecasted at this stage. Re T90, you might have noticed that they will release a new version, the T90SE, based on ESS9038Pro this year. The prototype of this DAC shows absolutely stellar performance based on measurements: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=https://www.l7audiolab.com/f/topping-d90se-dac-prototype/. Remains to be seen how it wil

    HQ Player

I noticed a mention of the volume being mounted "read-only" in the log file. I mounted the volume with "read and write" permissions and this solved most of the problem. Not sure why. Also, I still have some .wav files not recognised, for an undefined error: # 2021/05/18 16:14:43 clReadWAV::Open(/Volumes/Music/Original Music/Qobuz/Diana_Krall-Turn_Up_The_Quiet/01-01-Diana_Krall-Like_Someone_In_Love-SMRP.wav): clWaveIO::Open(): clID3frame3::clID3frame3(): insufficient data: Undefined error: 0 # 2021/05/18 16:14:43 clReadWAV::Open(/Volumes/Music/Original Music/Qobuz/Dian

    HQ Player

Thank you for your reply. I will double check, but I have no problem playing those albums from Roon or Audirvana. Albums were purchased from Qobuz and downloaded in AIFF format, like other albums I am purchasing there. Any other idea ?

    HQ Player

Hi, Recent developments have driven me to reconsider the usage of Roon and try to use HQPlayer on its own. I am busy looking at HQPlayer Library which I never investigated before. My music files are sitting on a NAS on my network. I noticed that some of my albums have been perfectly identified by the scan while some others, sitting in neighbouring directories, have not. I repeated the operation 2 or 3 times without success. Are there any specific recommendations I should be aware of setting up this part of the application ? Is there any way to debug the behaviour of this feature ?
  17. I valuate your opinion. I personally have a preference for people who judge after having tried than people who make "theoretical" evaluations based on their beliefs. Having experienced this product, I can say that it delivers what it claims and that it is worth a trial. The fact that the people at Diretta's do not want to participate in this forum is, IMHO, just an assessment of the size of their team, which is small. Also, please bear in mind that their main market is OEM and that discussing with private individuals like us is not their business target. Jus
  18. Hi Wolfgang, Congrats on your acquisition :) I personally have a preference for the AMSDM7 512+fs and DSD 512 when running this DAC. But I am also very happy with ASDM7EC and DSD 256.
  19. You might want to check this DAC: Apart from a different chip (ESS9038 x2 instead of AK4499), it has a lot of similarities with the SDA-6: - NOS mode to make the best out of software upsampling (HQPlayer for instance) - high precision clock with the capability to synthesise a 10 MHz external clock if desired - full discrete analog output stage with volume control - similar price range
  20. Yes it works with the PLL locked by me. No problem detected.
  21. No, I didn't notice any adverse effect using DoP with the AES/EBU input. For the purpose of record, as I am using an external 10 MHz clock with 75Ohm impedance, I have the switch 8 positioned to "OFF". As this switch is also involved in the PLL adjustment of the AES/EBU input, could you check with this switch to "OFF" too ? A few ideas though, as I was myself a big fan of AES/EBU before switching back to USB when I moved to HQPlayer. 1. AES/EBU is limiting you to file resolutions which are probably not the sweet-spot of this DAC. If you want to enjoy the best of this DAC
  22. I am using HQPlayer to adjust volume
