  1. Website says: Perhaps you heard Maggies somewhere in the past but were not impressed, maybe it was the sound room or setup or associated equipment. The LRS 60-day, money-back, home-trial program allows you to sample Magnepan's full-range ribbon technology for $650 pair in your home against the very best box speakers (at any price). We hope you will take the challenge. ————————- But I think the speaker as released a year ago.
  2. https://www.whathifi.com/features/best-24-cd-players-what-hi-fis-lifetime I once had a Wadia 581SE with Great Northern State upgrade. Sounded fantastic. Sold it to my HiFi dealer to his private collection. Before it lost all its value. Wadia has always been good with DAC. I think they used Philips drive as well.
  3. I don’t think this item qualifies as a CD player. Same as my transport didn’t either according to OP.

  5. Well, doing anything upfront your diy switch won’t help much as I see it. You may experiment with fiber, etherRegen and/or Sonore optical module after your diy switch. You can experimenting which is best Ethernet or USB on that Lumin D1 I also understand changing PS on D1 is a good option. Regarding the speaker you asked in the other tread, I don’t know. @wizardofoz Maybe you can give some advice here with best way to improve SQ with a Lumin D1 in networking. I understand you also have the etherRegen and can maybe add something about SQ. Did you try USB ?
  6. Maybe you should explain what player, endpoint, streamer etc you are using. Which audio switch ? Try describe the whole chain. You may include what power supply in use. I personally think Apple network gear is horrible, but I don’t think removing that HDD will affect the streaming quality. Assuming your music is stored on NAS and not Airport Time Capsule. Adding the etherRegen as an example will do much more in a positive way.
  7. Miska Only the registration need US IP-address (or any country you prefer). . After that it works world wide. No VPN needed. I know for sure, as I did.
  8. Maybe one or two good quality subs will serve you better ? Later experiment with rom correction if your setup support that option.
  9. Better buy a CD transport. Then use the ever best DAC you ever heard 😀 Old Theta players with Philips drive are examples of good transports.
  10. @gary mac https://www.bluesound.com/products/node/ https://community.roonlabs.com/t/does-anyone-know-when-the-bluesound-pulse-2i-will-be-raat-certified/51129/3 https://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/streaming/best-music-streamers https://www.whathifi.com/advice/roon-everything-you-need-to-know https://www.moon-audio.com/roon-software-faq You don’t need Roon, but it’s a good idea to check it out, and decide if you should plan for a possible later integration with what you decide to purchase. You can as you say just buy a streamer that supports Tidal and Qobuz.

    HQ Player

You may edit your post and explain where your HQPlayer is resting, and what DAC. If you’re using SonicTransporter you need to add “:8088/config” after the IP. (But I guess you’re able to access HQPlayer). If not, please see my reply the Sonore Rendu thread.
  12. Maybe just pull the power of your SonicTransporter. Spend a minute and checking all your Ethernet cables. Power on. Do you have a router you can access ip-addresses of your network? Do you know the IP you like to access ? Have you set fixed IP’s ? Or is it the Rendu that’s the problem ? (Still try power off). You are trying http://sonicorbiter.com/ ?
  13. Definitely YES 😀 I’ve google your items, and none of those two has digital in. So, yes you have some decisions to make. But let’s assume you’re keeping your amp for now, you can use almost any of those analog inputs from a DAC. Since you probably has a very good preamp with volume control, you can purchase “almost any” DAC without volume control. A DAC with USB input is preferred. If you find one with Ethernet in for streaming could be good. Do you plan to use Roon ? Then you need a NUC / NAS or something where Roon is installed. Or any other player. Next you would like some sort of an endpoint. Many options available. Pi and Sonore Rendu series as examples. However there are nice integrated streamers with DAC’s out there. You already mention some brands yourself. If you can, stay away from WiFi. (Remote control the player by WiFi is OK). There are endless treads here at AS with topics about best way to stream. I suggest you take some time to read some. You can search writers as Barrows, John Swenson, Austinpop as an example. A lot skilled people around. The absolutely cheapest way to start is if can get a Cromcast audio plugged into your amp. Assuming you have Tidal, Qobuz or similar on your phone and WiFi available. A Squeezebox Touch is also nice to test out together with a 14 day trail on Roon on your PC. If you’re able to get a very cheap USB DAC, you can even use an old iPhone with CCK as Roon endpoint into that DAC with very good results. (Use iPad or PC as controller).
