  1. I wonder what would happen if you power the EPS with a separate LPS .... I have my audio PC setup like that - ATX 20 pin with ATX LPS, and then a separate 10A 12V LPS for the EPS (Ghent cable)
  2. I assume this is the ISORegen? I had the same problem. With ISORegen in chain, switch the lights - music computer shuts down. I gave the ISORegen to a friend. Intona Industrial and the Singxer UIP-1 both work OK in my room. https://www.shenzhenaudio.com/singxer-uip-1-isolate-processor-usb2-0-usb-interface.html I am currently using the Gustard U16 DDC and find this still benefits from the UIP-1 followed by a W4S Recovery - all powered separately by either LPS-1.2 or LPS-1's followed by LT3045 DC-DC convertor boxes. Wonderful and consistent SQ... That is great to hear Schiit is making progress with USB inputs, I have found similar results with the Audio-GD isolated Amanero USB.
  3. agree that is a good possibility - I have found a certain (fairly popular) brand of non-shielded cables in my system when using any type of tube preamp can result in an intermittent 7.5 khz squeal of about +6db.. crazy stuff.. pop in a shielded set and AOK . These were RCA also..
  4. Just my opinion, but I think that there is a substantial international market for a proper simple player/OS/remote, with HQPlayer based oversampling option (and maybe VST plug-in options for EQ, etc), available as a single software package that will run on both single and dual PC's and offering the highest level of sound quality. (I am not sure if there is any type of consensus in the industry concerning a technical benefit to the streamer/end-point configuration, but it sure seems to me that a lot of computer audiophiles would consider this is the case. )
  5. I am using 10 Pro on control PC with AO 2.2 and the attached the Audio PC uses WinServer 2019 GUI and AO latest 3.0 beta. Sounds very good, but I did not compare to Server also on control PC. AO can strip Win Pro of excess stuff and also replace the GUI... I found these AO functions changes the sound from stock WIN Pro.. One thing for sure, is the AO sound signature and digital filter settings on the control PC are obvious.. I was shocked by this as I found they are just as obvious on control PC in 2 PC setup as for when I used a single PC setup😲.
  6. I hope this will lead to a easy to configure dual-PC version of Stylus (hopefully requiring a single license though....) I have no interest in Roon, but have tested Stylus briefly and think within a dual-PC configuration, it could possibly unseat Windows Server/JPlay in my systems for ease of use as well as sound quality.
  7. OK, thanks for the suggestions and I will check my current setup for the speakers angles. Interesting you consider absolute phase an important attribute.. The Black Ice (Jolida) device includes what I think is an indicator for that but I never checked (yet..) http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0917/Jolida_Foz_SSX_Sound_Stage_Expander_Review.htm On the top surface there is a round gold colored plate. This disk holds four (blinking) amber LED's. They are arranged at quarter hour clock intervals at 12, 3, 6, 9. The 3 and 9 LED positions indicate the right and left channels activity. The 12 and 6 positions are for channel phase. The 12 o'clock LED indicates an in phase condition and the rarely illuminated LED below that at 6 o'clock is an out of phase indication.
  8. Check out the Joyo JMP-01... best sounding battery ps I have used, but watch polarity.
  9. iirc, 10 degrees per side... my miniambio is based on the old , lower res minidsp box.. and the new minidspHR version is a big step up in transparency. I use the HR for sub management ...
  10. Thanks for the Soundpimp reference. I listen mostly to studio recordings and have a complete other clean source path for a more serious audiophile type reference. I have an upgraded Carver C16 and C9, the Miniambio box, and tried all the software listed at the ambiophonics website, not much success with that stuff.. The clearest and most convincing was a full barrier, nose to 1M behind speakers, built with multiple acoustic foam and air barriers, speakers at 10 degrees, speakers are small monitors almost point source, listening distance less than 2 M, no software. The Jolida is amazingly transparent as long as you use a proper tube (I think I have a RCA clear top in there) and do not push the xtc. But if you push the expansion then things get a little blurry. I get the feeling that it is not necessary to achieve full crosstalk cancellation, as evidenced by the effect of my partial barriers. Maybe just slowing the arrival of the opposing side is sufficient to achieve a lot of the effect. Thanks again for the ideas...
  11. Is your algorithm for stereo files ? What applications will work ? Similar to you, I have tried almost everything available and would consider the basic BACCH if it would not be mac based. So far, my best results are using the Blackice (Jolida) Audio Foz SSX followed by passive vol. control with partial physical crosstalk barriers.. software solutions seem phasey, incoherent, unbalanced, etc. compared to this, but the separation effect is not as pronounced as a full barrier or ambiophonics based software.
  12. My best success with a laptop was Windows Server core, with AO optimization... But, as mentioned above, you can more simply try the OS effect with something like Euphony or Volumio... I had a ULink and I am sure that bottleneck can be improved... but you may be surprised by the difference the operating system and general software optimization can change the sound .
  13. you used the qualifier "all".. as such I disagree as it seems there is also a lot of experience and craftsmanship used in the design of audio reproduction equipment I hope that cheers up your day!
  14. I am using one of the older HDPlex DC-ATX convertors and also one of the new 400W units, also I have a 400W HDPlex ATX PS and a Teradak 210W ATX PS.. I am not sure if I would be able to tell these apart, they all sound good and much better than a generic switching ATX supply. I am using the HDPlex DC-ATX convertors for the 20 pin ATX power input only, the mb 12V input is a separate LPS. However - a friend built a DIY server/dac (something like an all in one setup but still configured in a few boxes) using a lot of LT3045's mostly double regulated to the mb, and 12V input via battery. .. We tried that in my system and I think most people would say his was substantially better. One of my setups uses the same mb (Supermicro X10SBA-L) and similar r2r dac, similar stuff but certainly not an A-B comparison. Hearing his comparatively simple device using Volumio, you get the sense that mb and dac power regulation is perhaps a key attribute to this performance.
  15. I have been using a Teradak 210W ATX LPS for about 4 years now with no problems... I think it is not a stock item anymore, but I believe they will custom make... I also have the HDPlex and to me seems a fair value... Michael Li <[email protected]>
  16. I have been using the Startech USB 3.0 with Server 2019 GUI - works perfectly https://www.startech.com/Networking-IO/usb-network-adapters/USB-3-to-Gigabit-Ethernet-NIC-Network-Adapter~USB31000NDS
  17. Wow ! Thanks so much for the details.. great info for HQPlayer setup...
  18. Could you please share your HQPlayer/2019 core setup? Single/Dual PC ? WASAPI output? Drag and Drop for file loading ? Many Thanks!
  19. I wonder if sconfig only recognizes adapters with an active connection ?
  20. AO 3.0 Beta 38 2019 STD Eval. Build 17763rS5 180914-1434 second system with AudiophileShell Beta update OK, (needed CTRL-ALT-DEL , etc from black screen and command line install from usb)
  21. AO 3.0 Beta 38 2019 STD Eval. Build 17763rS5 180914-1434 Windows standard GUI Short cuts showing OK sconfig launched from admin cmd works but only shows Intel pcie network adapter, mb adapter not showing in sconfig, but functioning and showing in device manager
  22. iirc... I also did exactly that and still no sconfig.. I tried to find it in the default directory, but not listed there.. I since changed back to GUI - will give core a try again after the manual is finished 😀
  23. Are you using a DC to DC ATX convertor, like the HDPLEX 400W DC-ATX Converter ? If using this and your motherboard supports the additional 12V input, you can get 2 Teradak 10 A units 1 18V x 10A for the DC-DC ATX convertor 1 12V x 10A direct to the 12V motherboard EATX I just setup a computer using this on a Z170M-PLUS, 8GB, 65W processor. So far seems the LPS's are loafing along - almost no temp rise from ambient, but I have not yet stressed things...
  24. I just tried this in a new 2019 core installation (without FoD) and sconfig was not found... (AO was installed OK and using the AudiophileShell)
  25. Is FoD absolutely necessary for core ? I remember a while back a comment if you only require KS, FoD is not necessary. If necessary, if someone could point to where to DL and how to install FoD, that would be much appreciated.. I searched and could not arrive at anything a civilian would understand 😲
