  1. @PAR So from your experience the Melco sounds better than a well built pc on AO + HQ Player with dedicated ethernet card as a server feeding the bridge?
  2. Thank you all for the replies! I'm overwhelmed I enquired SMSL at the time and they say min 2A. They have their own LPS for another DAC, but with not enough juice and they do not recommend it. I'm aware of the Sbooster, but I thought is a lot of $, but if you know it's miles better than a battery pack or a Teradak I will bite the bullet. BTW, I had ifi Micro DSD, Teac 503 and 301 before and I dont miss any of them. The M9 drives the Aeon flawless in dual mono with the balanced output. For a second I though to sell it for the new iFi Pro, but it's not worth for the little use I have. I prefer speakers over headphones as a musical experience. Agree! I was aware of the review and considering what they say about the AQ Jitterbug... well we do hear different.
  3. I own a SMSL M9 as my desktop headphone amp/DAC and I would like to find a better power solution. Should I go with a battery pack or teradak LPS or...

    HQ Player

I am aware Pink Faun it's in the work, but not coming soon. Will definitely reach out to Antipodes. Thank you all for the feedback

    HQ Player

So Antipodes EX will work as an Ethernet end point running just HQPlayer from any PC or it requires the CX server to work?

    HQ Player

Thanks Judd, we are on the same page. Nonetheless, I'm going to try a Melco to check if I'm missing anything.

Thank you Jussi, this is what I thought. Will wait until the etheRegen is out and see how the market will reclock

    HQ Player

Exactly, I've seen that when looking for the switch! Does it plays HQP out of the box? (I see from your sig we have couple of pieces in common... love the amp!)

    HQ Player

Thank you Jud I do not have any knowledge and will to play with Linux. I believe both Sotm and Sonore worked hard in implementing their devices well beyond any standard Raspberry. So my question is why there is no further implementation for an end point. If, if, if a Bricasti M5 (just as an example) performs better that the two renders I mentioned, why I cannot have it as an end point instead of a music server not compatible with HQ Player. Am I crazy thinking that optimization on the server side (MoBo, SSD, RAM, PSU, Win or Mac) is not as much important as the one you can get out from the device (power/circuitry/components/Linux) that is actually connected to the DAC after the cleansing via ethernet? I am happy with the Ultrarendu, Isoregen, LPS1, Sotm 1000 endless caterpillar, but I am surprised there is no product out in the market that combine them all and maybe add a GUI and a AES or I2s or RJ45 output in the mix...

    HQ Player

Thank you. I am looking for even better specs compared to those two without the typical add-ons of a fully loaded music server. My guess Linux is a more efficient OS for a NAA and would like to consider a viable alternative within that option, but ready to use like the Sotm and Sonore.

    HQ Player

Sorry my bad, I meant HQ Player end point without Roon compatibility. Sonore, Sotm and Roon server are the only ones I know.

    HQ Player

I would like to know if there is any alternative to Sonore as a high quality, Linux OS, end point only, that doesn't require Room software. I have lumin, bricasti, aries, antipodes in mind but I don't know if any of those are compatible without Roon. I'm using a ESS9018AQ2M DAC.
  13. Alex, thank you a lot for taking the time. I do understand your frustration. Today I got a Sablon ethernet cable and I really wanted to make the whole thing to work and guess what, I make it happen. I have no idea where to point my finger, but after countless restarts and reboots it's finally working. Will reach out if I get in touble next time.
  14. I would like to confirm what Alex posted here in above. I do hear livelier sound with the ISO in place at the point I'm getting upset when I have to disconnect any component because in my system the USB chain with the ISO in place is very flimsy and I still do not get what makes so hard for the ISO to establish a good signal path. Like now, since I disconnected the DAC last week, I can't get HQP to recognize the network. If I go straight from the UltraRendu it's all good. I'm on Sonore and HQP last releases. If someone can help in solving the puzzle, I would be grateful.
