  1. I use Audirvana on a Macbook Pro (2019) sending Tidal to two DLNA renderers (Cambridge Audio CXN2 and MicroRendu) over Wi-Fi. I have created my own FIR filters using REW (for measurements and tests) and DRC Designer in wav stereo format. They have 65k taps. The convolution engine I use is Reverberate Core from LiquidSonics. It's a reverb plugin but can be used just as a convolution engine and it's very good at that. For both Mac and Windows. Mind you Audirvana is not totally reliable for DLNA streaming. Only a select number of renderers work properly (MicroRendu is one). CA CXN2 has issues. It's unfortunate that Audirvana doesn't support real time testing of filters. I use a headless Macmini directly connected to my DAC (Qutest) and JRiver to turn filters on/off to listen in real time. A by-product of this is also the ability to test clipping as JRiver tells you if clipping is occurring. I set my gain accordingly in Audirvana if needed to be. Hope this helps
  2. I already reported this issue to Dirac few months back. I was a beta tester of DL2 and early versions supported DLNA/uPnP playback but they dropped it with the official release. I suspect switching from stand-alone Dirac Processor to VST-embedded one caused the issue but I'm not sure. I also had an issue with DL2 needing latest MacOS as my transport (Macmini 2011) does not support Catalina. Again, not sure why Dirac needs to have the latest MacOS. My all other audio apps and plugins work fine with previous OS versions.
  3. Yes, you can actually. There is an option (EQ) to auto generate FR (Frequency Domain) PEQs for L/R speakers individually. You need to define a house target curve yourself (Preferences --> House Curve) to match your room and your speakers. Mind you this is only to fix FR domain anomalies, not to fix TD (Time Domain) issues. The reason I use DRC designer instead of REW to produce EQ filters, DRC Designer: applies mic calibration selects sample rate(s) allows you to customise a target/house curve interactively allows you to select the degree of correction you need (I always stop at SOFT. If stronger it introduces digital side effects in my case) Attempts to fix both FR and TD produces standard format filters that can be used in most audio players provided you have a convolution engine BTW, I also tried REW+rePhase route but I was not happy with the results. Mostly due to my inability to equalise excess phase deviations properly. Sounds like you have a decent enough room to start with. Yes, DSP can be tricky and counter productive in some cases. My speakers are in the family/living room.It's a difficult room. DSP is my only option. I'm lucky that it makes a positive difference. I've attached before/after FR for L+R speakers combined. Top curve room FR, bottom one room+DSP FR. It also fixes some time domain issues too; I get better ETC values after DSP applied. BTW, Var Smoothing applied to both graphs.
  4. Yes, you can do that. I, actually, do it myself. REW+Umik-1 USB mic to measure the room FR & IR, DRC Designer Software (Win) to generate FIR filters. You also need a convolution engine to apply the DRC filters in Audirvana. I use Reverberate Core ($39) for this. Very good plugin. I get easily identifiable significant SQ improvements. However, what you cannot do is your specific channel balance/distance fixes (for example, speaker placement difficulties or if you have some unbalanced L/R hearing issues). JRiver has options to fix these problems (in case Damien is curious).
  5. How about starting with simple fixes? Something like channel balance, time delays, speaker distance settings , crossovers, etc. Plugins you guys mention are quite expensive (more expensive than Audirvana itself) and, in most cases, they are overkill. Their key market is audio mastering/mixing, studio/DAW users. A good example to have a look is JRiver room correction options. Something similar would be most appreciated. My 2c
  6. Just a quick question. My search did not return a clear answer. What's the processing order of Audirvana if you're doing DSP and resampling together? DSP filters first (AU Units) then resampling or resampling first DSP second?
  7. If I remember correctly the official response from JRiver people was "Not supported". I understand you are referring to Options --> Media Network --> ... Advanced --> DSP Studio? I would appreciate if you have any pointers to how this can be setup properly; maybe I'm doing something wrong. When I try to select DL2 filters with DSP Studio while audio playing to a DLNA renderer I get the message below from JRiver. I actually tried it before anyway. Gain slider in the DL2 plugin works (I can turn the volume down to test) but the filters are still greyed out, not selectable. This is before selecting DLNA renderer as the active zone and playing to it. Additionally, DL2 plugin crashes JRiver in the process if I try to change things. My version of JRiver is 24. Not sure if this works differently on v25/26.
  8. Follow up from my previous post in case it helps someone else in future. After couple of login/logouts (to overcome licensing issues) I finally managed to complete a chair setup measurement; @Alain13, thanks again for the tip. I also successfully created my first two filters. Filters work as intended locally; i.e., PC connected to the audio system directly through USB DAC. I can select, enable/disable filters, change the gain provided I enable "Realtime Control" under "Audio Units" option of Audirvana player. Otherwise DLP2 (Dirac Live Processor 2) gain slider works (attenuate volume by -13dB) but the filter enable/disable switch is greyed out and looks like set to "disable" state (see the picture below). There is no way I can enable/select them. However, the real issue, when I stream audio to a DLNA/UPnP renderer (MicroRendu in this case) from Audirvana over the LAN DLP2 is always greyed out. This defeats the purpose of using this plugin for me as my main audio transport is MicroRendu DLNA renderer over the local network. I did not test this under JRiver as it doesn't support any DSP over DLNA. As it stands, it's unusable for me. Hopefully I get a quick answer from Dirac people as my setup is pretty standard and they should be able to test it easily.
  9. I'm also having issues with my license. I get the following message when I click the "Dirac Live Processor" icon in the Dirac Live app "You are missing the correct license ..." See below. Actually, I login with the same account that I bought the license. After login I can check the license info and it's there and correct. Looking forward to a solution so that I can try the latest and greatest. Thanks. PS. I already created a ticket last Friday but no reply so far.
  10. What's the latest beta? I've tried beta .37 and it did crash both Audirvana and JRiver. Before it used to work with the exception of holding attenuation setting (was clipping). Now cannot go pass the first screen in DL2 after recognising DL2 Processor plugin in the players. I use sampling rate of 48KHz with UMIK-1. My setup: Macbook Pro (mid 2014), MacOS: 10.14.6 . Audio Out: Toslink from Macbook, DAC: Chord Qutest
  11. I did follow the same process yesterday and created new filters based on old project measurements. Now I can see the plugin slots in Audirvana but I cannot pick and activate any of them. This is now beyond beta testing and I've stopped until these issues are resolved.

  13. I have made a new set of measurements with the new version today and I'm getting around 4.5dB clipping. My host/controller app is Audirvana 3.5x on Macbook Pro sending to (uPnP) MicroRendu client. The issue is, even when I reduce the DL2 plugin headroom by 5dB, it does not stick. It reverts back to 0dB when Audirvana is started again. Not sure if this is Audirvana or DL2 plugin issue.
  14. I second that. My Spendor A4's are on a suspended timber floor. My first impression was "tight" everything. However the first time I ran REW sweeps with GAIAs I noticed that the room rattling (that I was getting before GAIAs) disappeared. I think their benefit is also highly room/speaker type/placement dependent. I would get a pair with a trial period if it can be organised.
  15. I think this is, sort of, related to the overall volume/clipping issue discussed above posts. I need some guidance here with the shaping of the target curve. I'm starting with Dirac default target curve. Before customising the target curve I wish to reduce the overall dB. Rather than manually doing it I was expecting some sort of vertical slider (similar to VST filter overall volume slider) available for this purpose. I have also played with some mouse click+keyboard mod keys and drag with no joy. Is this possible?
  16. Yes, I have played the same track with Audirvana and JRiver. JRiver has the option to monitor clipping. It shows some clipping with DL2 VST engaged. My trial&error solution is to follow the speakers' natural room response as much as possible and use mostly cut filters.
  17. I agree, the audio quality is top-notch! Very balanced, everything is in focus. For the UI (user interface), I found it excellent in terms of workflow and usability. It's logical, follows the natural steps you normally take. Screens are informative. There are some key functionality still missing from the UI such as entering numbers into target curve nodes rather than trying to get it right with mouse trial and error (unless I missed it). I would imagine the full version will address these missing parts.
  18. I can edit Audio units now (.17) but an old bug is back. I'm streaming to a DLNA renderer (MicroRendu) and if I enable "Realtime Control" audio units are disabled (audio plays but no effects). I realise we cannot "Realtime Control" DLNA streaming yet but, at least, I was expecting the app ignore the setting under these conditions (Inc DSD playback). Also, @Damien, is it possible to put a "Check Box" next to the Audio Unit dropdown pick lists? This way we can enable/disable certain audio units without setting them up again next time we change our audio chain; something similar to JRiver. Another benefit is some of the plugins' internal enable/disable switches do not work as intended. For example, I use LiquidSonics Reverberate Core convolution engine and when turned off it cuts off the audio completely.
  19. I gave up on MacOS and installed DL on a Windows PC. Everything worked first time.
  20. Update: I have deleted Dirac plugin and rebooted PC. No change, it still locks the plugin settings. I can pick but cannot modify them. I also have A+ 3.2.16 still installed. I tested the same scenarios on 3.2.16 and, to my surprise, it works as expected. So my conclusion is the MacOS audio sub-system is OK. Damien, hope this helps.
  21. Thanks Damien. Yes, after I deleted Preferences file and reboot. It must be my PC then. I have been playing with Dirac Live beta recently. It installs its own plugin. I will look into it and report back.
