1. For those of you who don't know who John Dillinger was. John Dillinger - Wikipedia
2. The names have been changed to protect the innoc..., nevermind! To clarify, this is meant to be parody only .
3. We're pretty much in the same boat. For me, it was over $10K and I have nothing, a big fat goose egg, to show for it. I trusted Larry's reputation based on the Da Vinci and got burned badly! Suffice it to say, Crowdfunding will not be in my future.
4. It's called Pretzel Logic or an Endless Loop! The term "pretzel logic" has multiple connotations and definitions. One is the urban definition of "twisted or circular reasoning that when dissected is wrong, does not make sense or does not explain the situation rationally."
5. Regarding the latest IGG update, we've been given information like this before. Quite frankly, it's useless and can't be substantiated by any backers. When do they plan on shipping, said product, to backers and what criteria is being used to determine the order, sequencing, in which they will they be sent. I suspect we will never get that.
6. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is sufficient cash flow for refunds. Kind of like the government with Social Security, robbing Peter (us backers) to pay Paul (LHL's other endeavours). if the cash was available, the products could have been produced by now, even with all the mistakes. As you stated Blake, the fine print is protecting them but long term, their moral and ethical integrity is in the proverbial dumpster. Lesson learned but oh, what a cost.
7. Nice Blake! I opted to upgrade to the Vi DAC Tube SE and am number 41 of 53 so I guess I'll be retired before I get it.
8. They're still in business but woefully understaffed. Just keep pinging them and eventually you'll hear back but the key is to be persistent.
9. Nice review Ted. Had similar parochial upbringing (13 years - K thru 12), except for college unlike you, but discovered the same things while in college. That's where I was introduced to Firesign which neccesitated a certain state of mind.
10. The original HDPLEX 100W LPS only had two power outlets at 19V and 12V, not four like the current one, so I had to use the Teradak's to power the SSD and USB card at 5V each.
11. Hard to say because those are the only cables I have ever used for this build so I have nothing to compare it to. I would think improvement, if any, would be marginal at best.
12. The V3 fits with caveats. If you're using the first PCI slot on your MB for the PPA card you won't be able to use the second PCI slot with a short bracket. You would need to use a riser cable and use a long bracket mounted horizontally.
13. As ted_b's signature line quotes "We're all bozos on this bus!".
14. I still have my PUC2 (not the lite version) and will have to try it out with the REGEN.
15. Don't sweat the details Tboooe. The 300W LPSU has more power, is more versatile (more output connections) and quieter (less ripple) than the 100W with 250W DC to ATX Converter. Internally, it's taking the AC and converting it to all the DC voltage values you'll probably ever need. Specification for Independent Output:

Output Voltage Max DC Current Full Load DC Current Output Voltage Tolerance Ripple (mV)

-----------------------------
16. Some people believe that the processor cycles used to decode compressed files on a server can affect the timing of the bitstream to the DAC and hence it's quality. Is it known if there is any latency added by the MQA decoding process, be it implemented in hardware or software, that would impact the timing of the decoded bitstream to the DAC?
17. Async or not, the cleaner (less noise, EMI, RFI) and more timely the arrival of the signal is when it gets to the DAC, the less work the DAC has to do to correct or interpret it. That work the DAC has to do in performing the correction induces it's own noise also. If you have the opportunity, you should try the JPLAY or PPA cards in conjunction with something like the Uptone Audio REGEN. Everything in the chain can make a difference. It just ends up being how much you're willing to spend to get the improvement. Your, and nobody else's, decision as to whether it's worth it.
18. It's doing the same thing internally as the 250W DC to ATX is doing externally but has a max wattage of 300. It also provides other outputs on the back of the LPS to power other components. The LPS itself is converting AC @YourCountriesVoltage to DC @somevoltage. That DC @somevoltage then needs to be converted (which is what the converter is doing) to the following DC output voltages (+3.3V, +5V, +12V and -12V) to power the motherboards own components.
19. Doesn't the DC to ATX conversion still need to happen and it's just inside the LPS main chassis, as opposed to in the PC, with the 300W version?
20. That Gold Coast, Playa de Conchal and Tamarindo, area is beautiful. Had a seafood pizza there that was to die for! FYI - I have the PPA V3 and am using it with the new Light Harmonic Revive (battery powered USB regeneration and power delivery). Very impressed with the Revive. Less smearing and blending of individual sound sources plus transient response and decay seem to be improved. Taught and smooth, less sibilant.
21. Josh, can't wait to hear your impressions after you feel the tube buffer stage has matured!
22. FYI - a 75 ohm BNC input is considered AES3, 75 ohm RCA (not really 75 ohm) or TOSLINK is considered S/PDIF

[TH][/TH] [TH]AES3 balanced[/TH] [TH]AES3 unbalanced[/TH] [TH]S/PDIF[/TH]

[TH]Cabling[/TH] 110-ohm STP 75-ohm coaxial 75-ohm coaxial or fibre

[TH]Connector[/TH] 3-pin XLR BNC RCA or TOSLINK

[TH]Output level[/TH] 2–7 V peak to peak 1.0–1.2 V peak to peak 0.5–0.6 V peak to peak

[TH]Min. input level[/TH] [TD
23. Compared to other USB implementations it kind of puts you in the first row as opposed to 10 rows back or in the middle. I, personally, don't find it "bright" from an SQ perspective if that's what you meant by forward.
