  1. My mistake then, responding to the original post: I only need a single XLR input and single XLR output. I see Sonore has its analog attenuator, but it's unbalanced only. $59 at B&H Photo. What's to lose?
  2. From the professional world.... https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Computer-Audio/Accessories/LEVEL-PILOT/p/P0D71#googtrans(en|en)
  3. If you are open to in ear monitors - cannot recommend JH Audio highly enough. I have pair (Roxanne's) and for the first time ever I stopped worrying if I'm missing something in the recording.
  4. I have a pair of ATH-M50x's and am really happy with them. Comfortable and easy to listen to for a long time at a stretch. Well represented in studioland. if you don't have a local dealer try B&H Photo. My second favorite headphone after JA Audio's that were much more expensive. I think you will like them!
  5. Another recommendation for the Audio-Technica ATH-"n0"x family. I have not heard Left Channel's ATH-70x but have the ATH-50x and they are my favorite closed back. Very sturdy and comfortable. Additional validation (if you need it) is go to YouTube and many of the recording session performers are wearing... ATH "n0"x's! Also look at some of the reviews at B&H Photo's site for additional impressions. Lastly, my son works at two music venues in Chicago, and they use.. ATH "n0"x. Then with the money you save you can buy a better mic. Best of luck!
  6. Good to get away from screens from time to time.. TapeOp (print/subscription) Sound on Sound (print/supscription) Hi-Fi News and Record Review (print/newstand) Stereophile (print/subscription)
  7. Few things match that new cable*network closet*server room smell. Congratulations.
  8. I had not visited the TONEAudio site before I was enlightened by this forum, so obviously CA is driving readership. I was immediately struck by the varying and page-sensitive copyright dates.
  9. Like this a lot. Thanks. Another choice, below: Parra for Cuva in the foreground and is super cool. Nice rendition that (technically) fits the thread, kind of a forgettable female vocal but the package works for me....
  10. Good call - London Grammar is guilty of having taste. Does a good job with "Wicked Games"
  11. More appreciation for Dessa here - lyric excerpt from "5 out of 6", from the album "Chime" ...And I'm running a tight ship Every deckhand here has a five-year plan And a ice pick They can write code, they can drive stick I got an octave on you and a high kick...
  12. Unabashed fanboy here. Studio version now available from Nonesuch website as of 2/23.
  13. It is totally about tribes. And its all so silly. Unless you are a manufacturer, distributor, or retailer (who have stakes in this game) why get so bent out of shape around this stuff. When you hear something you like, buy it, when you don't, keep looking. Is it that hard?
  14. Wait - is this THE Emotional Support Peacock? Were you there? This thread is taking me far from my comfort zone - I may need to borrow...
  15. The earlier suggestion of Jo Stafford spot on. Elizabeth Fraser The Staves - originals = earwigs. Covers of Sufjan Stevens should not be missed (Chicago):
  16. Wait, you're that Elcorso? We did not believe you existed. Humbled. Still have a 1961 Philco in the parlor to serenade the gals...
  17. I am from Wisconsin and know dairy cows. A champion dairy cow can generate ~$345,000 in life time revenue (note - not profit), enabling them to purchase almost any reasonable high-end system if they chose to. They don't seem to be bullied into it by their barnyard peers.
  18. Very much agree. My effort to point out that blanket statements regarding hifi and wives are equally absurd, was hijacked. My mistake for taking the lid off the worm can.
  19. Did not notice it, and the CD was a frequent listen this summer/fall. Now I can unhear it...
  20. Sorry, do your own research . I have not heard a 1000 rap artists, if you have a favorite please share it - I'm like a sponge and will give it a listen.
  21. The most articulate lyricist in rap. Mineshaft 2 a personal favorite... Try to see Nightmares on Wax on March 1st at the Turf Club...
