  1. 4 ft VH Audio Flavor 2 power cord with upgrade Furutech FI-11 (copper) plugs on both ends designed and assembled by Chris Venhaus of VH Audio. A little wear on the shrink wrap around the plugs otherwise excellent. Retails for $254. Will sell for $130 shipped/Paypal.Features of this design include:* Two 12 AWG low strand count bare copper conductors for very low resistance. The safety ground wire is 12 AWG tinned copper.* Deep Cryogenic treatment of the power conductors.* FEP insulation of all conductors, including the ground wire AND outer protective jacket.* No shield is utilized in order to maintain unrestricted macro and micro dynamics. Analog components don't generate the same amount of noise that digital components radiate, so shielding in addition to the twisted pair geometry is unnecessary.* Twisted pair geometry with tight lay length (twists per inch) provides excellent RFI/EMI rejection, and also reduces the inductance (raises capacitance).* VH Audio's "Spaced Counter-spiraled Ground" geometry, which helps reduce the sonic effects of having a safety ground.* The wire termination points are treated with "TPC- The Perfect Connection" contact enhancer before termination.* Deep Cryogenic treatment of conductors is standard. Cryogenically treated WattGate brass plugs are included in the standard cord price. Connectors available at additional cost include Furutech's FI-11, FI-25, U.K. and Schuko series, as well as WattGate's 330 and 350 series.
  2. I just ran into the same problem with a LPS I ordered on Ebay from China. I thought the DC cables were standard also and the one that came with it was the wrong size. The JS-2 states that it comes with a 5.5mm/2.5mm cable plug which means 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.5mm inner diameter. The one you have is likely a 2.1mm inner diameter. I ended up ordering the correct size from Teddy Pardo but maybe you can get one from Uptone. EDIT: Ooops....looks like Superdad was replying at the same time.
  3. Yes, but what is the base male connector? It comes in 2 versions from what I can tell.
  4. More info...say I used 2 x Samsung 860 EVO SATA III drives. Wouldn't something like a Teddy Pardo 5V 3A do the job?
  5. It's a 2 bay docking station and the SMPS that comes with it is 5VDC / 4A output 20W max. Any suggestions for a good LPS?
  6. So the NUC7i5 comes with a SMPS rated at 19V / 3.43A output. I know the NUC MB can supposed run off 12V but considering the options for that LPS include a 19V / 4.2A version at the same price wouldn't that be better?
  7. How long did it take to get that from China? BTW, it looks like HDPlex is coming out with an upgraded 200W LPS soon.
  8. I have the same NUC. What Chinese R-core are you using? The Zero Zone?
  9. Well I might actually listen to my system an hour or two per day, and that's all I would use it for.
  10. I don't understand....what do you mean by " I don’t think I’d ever leave one powered up to serve music with."
  11. Just when you think you might have the answer someone throws cold water on it :^ /
  12. Something like this sounds interesting... https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1388557-REG/atech_flash_technology_bj_0200_r01_blackjet_vx_2ssd_usb3_1_gen.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwwbHWBRBWEiwAMIV7E9ItatbzseQhZGRREEa89whDvp5h5p-7ioy17K2wXu9JXZEkFio3XBoC9GYQAvD_BwE#itemcode&smp=y&kwid=ZSMP&ap=y&BI=225&c3api=1876,116777138042,, I don't need RAID or the 2 bays, but you never know, plus it takes SSD's and has USB 3.1 Gen 2 which is compatible with my NUC. I likely wouldn't benefit from USB 3.1 Gen 2 at this point but it probably wouldn't hurt any either. Plus it states "industrial housing" which hopefully means aluminum/metal and not plastic. And...it doesn't look like a mini toaster :^ /
  13. This has been extremely hard to research. I consider myself well above average as far as online research goes and this has been really frustrating. Computer audio is not that new, you'd think there would be plenty of researchable options as far as optimum externally powered storage and playback solutions. It seems they are more interested in pushing these over-priced all in one systems. I realize there is likely a larger market for those but there has to be a large enough market for us who would rather piece our systems together.
  14. Yes...that's my goal. I don't really care about price. I'd like a very good enclosure or dock, one bay is all I need, to be externally powered by a good LPS.
  15. Well it appears that you can buy an enclosure where the drive plugs into a SATA slot and the enclosure takes a SMPS. These look like they are not being offered much any more. And you can get a docking station like david linked to that uses an SMPS also.
  16. So you're talking about a USB powered enclosure? I was thinking of an externally powered one.n It looks like they are hard to find these days.
  17. So how do you qualify to post in the classified ads here for either FS or Wanted? I've researched it and can't find any reference to number of posts, contributing, etc. It must be pretty well hidden.
  18. Thanks...I appreciate that and it does make sense. As of now I've been looking for a lower cost, stopgap solution but I know where this always leads in the end so I think I'm just going to save myself some time and effort and spring for an Uptone JS-2, get a better hard drive and power them both with the Uptone.
