  1. Looks seriously Sexy. Shanling has a good rep imo. I've researched plenty of their products and people seem very satisfied. From their web site I wish there was a view of the internal layout. Having purchased many many many Chinese brand components I would say don't let Made In China throw you off....some Americans seem automatically turned of by Chinese gear. However if its low 1K I would suggest something from Audiogd....serious gear, designed to the max, built to the max.
  2. FWIW I was the one who suggested to LKS to make a power supply for their Amanero USB module. I gave up on LKS after 1) They made the power supply, which I suggested, and didn't even bother to tell me after I asked for them to at least let me know so I can buy and 2) they made the module inaccessible to me to purchase and ignored further emails. The following week LKS D003 sold, never looked back. In fact I've seriously been thinking of taking down their review on my site....yeah I know vindictive, so I left it up. With all that said, it appears Amanero came out with a new module and my new
  3. Look no further Fully balanced design built by discrete analog stages without any OPA and coupling caps in the signal channels, built in real balanced DAC. Output for headphone (4-pin XLR or 1/4") and DAC (fixed output) with preamp (variable output) Non- feedback ACSS analog output stage . Large R-core transformers and Hi-fi grade parts like DALE resistors, WIMA caps . 4. +1 Been running Daphile on a Samsung SSD for over a year with no problems
  5. Hi bibo01 I'm not asking how to set realtime processes....if you look at my site I have already outlined what should be set years ago. In addition, the ability to 'set' processes in Daphile is not possible because SSH is blocked. As my original question states, my curiosity is what 'was' set with the rt kernel implementation. Cheers
  6. I asked him about implementing the realtime kernel when her first came out with Daphile along with other modifications, even an alternative background vs all black. He refused each suggestion, oddly enough they all have been creeping into Daphile little by little. Hopefully we will be able to set affinity at some point in time. Either way, he does good work and computer audio as a whole is a giant step ahead because of his work.
  7. I wonder what real time settings are being used....or is it just the real time kernel installed.
  8. I've had my eye on the MX-U8 for some time but opted to purchase the Gustard U-12. Might have to buy one and do a shootout between the U12, MX-U8 and the Audiogd DI
  9. Is it more simplified? In what way and is that better or worse?
  10. Audiogd is making a Amanero board now.... going to look into it
  11. Okay just a side note. Since I was not able to purchase the 'kit' I decided to purchase the Gustard U12 for its I2S output. For about the same price I am more than happy with the result, it really takes the digital edge off the sound, plus I get the added bonus of additional outputs for my other Dacs.
  12. Don't know why he is being so secretive about the cost. FWIW, I gave LKS the idea about the power supply for the USB board via email. I told him it was the one shortcoming I found in the dac and that the Amanero should be powered internally. Me: "Only one small oversight might be the Amanero card which would be better suited to be powered internally by the Dac instead of dirty computer USB power." LKS: "Hello ...... Thank you for your suggest. We will make an update kit for this Amanero USB part. Please keep in touch. Thanks!" The total cost for both the power supply and t
  13. Hi Ja Did you ever get the upgrade hooked up? Any differences in sound?
  14. Listening via a can all heartbeats sound the same. Listening via a cardiologist stethoscope all heart sounds are different.
  15. Good News! The Manufacturer might build a kit and/or include the ability for the Amanero USB to be internally powered. This should significantly improve SQ....and pretty much eliminate the need for a USB filtering device.
  16. Also now thats its pretty much broken in I think I am pretty happy with the stock opamps...the sound is clear and neutral. With that said I think people do like their Dacs to have a little flavor, most of mine do in one way or another.
  17. Thanks for the response...I was just curious. I agree, in the hobby of ours, spending a few bucks on improving the sound is almost a given.
  18. Just want to throw a question out there for the LKS Dac owners. What exactly is it that you don't like about the sound of this Dac? It seems that most people who own it are going out of their way to 'fix' something in the sound.
  19. Would be nice if the manufacturer could tap into a clean rail inside the dac to power the USB interface instead of using the dirty computer power
  20. The fuse is at the back next to the iec inlet. USB noise is because the USB needs power from the source.... dirty power
  21. Thanks well I'm expecting the review to change as I used the wrong opamp... MUSE01 vs MUSE02. I switched back to the stock opamps post broken in and things gelled together...so much so that I don't think it needs an opamp upgrade. No serious listening was done but from the few minutes I did listen I can say its not as stiff sounding as before.
  22. Review here https://sites.google.com/site/computeraudioorg/home/mini-reviews/l-k-s-audio-mh-da003-dac-review
  23. Just curious what people are using as a front end for this Dac? And what PLL settings are you using?
