Music can reproduce the geometry of our experiences of life in ways that actually move the air around us and is, in turn, able to move us, literally and emotionally.

This is the best distillation of why I’ve been an audiophile for over 30 years and why listening music has played such a supportive role throughout the emotional ups and downs of my life! It is truly essential to my wellbeing. Thank you for such a thoughtful post. You have made my day!

I plan on allocating my next system upgrade funds to PGGB.

  2. Hi Nenon,

For those of us willing to purchase the Mundorf 15.5AWG wiring, will you still be offering the preferred capacitor selection for the unregulated power supply?

For some of us, we are willing to outlay the additional funds rather than compromise the performance. We early adopters, who already invested in all the Taiko Extreme clone components, and have realized sonic performance surpassing  of all of our prior DIY Music Server builds, are hoping to extract as much performance as we can.

I figure if I can get 90% or more of the performance of Emile’s masterpiece, for less than half it’s total cost of entry, I’m still doing great!

But if we all 3 here join in 25.000 MHz SC / Driscoll then I think we will reach the MOQ also for the 25 MHz SC cut..

I’d be in for 1 for sure, maybe 2.

Can you direct me to which XO board I would need, the isolation transformer board if needed and I’m assuming I could use the: TWTMC-STS-FSDO-F to derive 2-square outputs at 25Mhz? I’ll then add my order to the shared spreadsheet.

    Thanks,

    Todd

  6. Blackmorec,

What a wonderful post to wake up to this morning! I’ve been experimenting with some home built linear power supplies and they’ve made really stunning  improvements. So I’ve been wondering, what makes supplies from the likes of Sean Jacobs LPS,s so much better? Well, I think you’ve distilled it in an amazingly eloquent way! It is not such an easy task to translate what we audiophiles hear into words, but I think you really captured the essence of the changes your DC3/DC4 LPS’s have brought to your system. Congratulations on getting one step closer to what all of us music lovers are seeking!

I also am equally intrigued at the last noted observation. That your hearing the same improvements on locally played files. I wonder if somehow there is less noise leaked back through the AC lines to your Statement? You would think that if your network were totally disconnected from your Statement and also disconnected from the mains, you would achieve a similar result? These are some of those mysterious observations that boggle our senses but all of us who have been at this a long time have experienced. Those, “What the heck” confounding observations.

    Cheers, Todd

  7.    Thanks for all the pertinent answers Nenon. Pretty much clarified everything. I look forward to your Dave impressions, given what I know about the kind of source you’’ll be feeding it with😉. Btw, I still prefer my Decware SE84UFO25 2w/ch SET amp with very select tubes, than the Dave rca outputs directly driving my 115db/w Orphean horns.
Given your custom SET’s, should give me a great data point!

  8. For the last week I haven’t been able to reach Sean Jacobs website.

this is the error I get:

    404. That’s an error.

The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

Is anyone else having the same issue? or have an alternate method of reaching him?

I’m itching to build a new power supply for my Chord Dave.

BTW, does anyone know the current requirements for the +15, -15v and the separate 5v for the Dave?

There are several Adnaco solutions that work depending on how many SFP ports you want, 1 to 4 is possible. The Adnaco USB remotes, Adnaco-R1USB30B, are always the same.  There are two PCIE cards available, the H1A with one port and the H2-01  with four ports. Everything can be ordered without any fiber cables or SFPs.

I wonder if it is possible to use the R1USB30B on the transmitting end, with a usb cable from the Jcat XE USB PCIe card to a R1USB30B on the DAC end?
    Any thoughts?

It would seem that since the R1USB30B is a transceiver that it wouldn’t matter and would work on either end.

It would be interesting to see how that compares to using Adnaco’s PCIe card.
