I need some suggestions, please

I only recently discovered the Jacques Louissier Trio and found that there is a type of Jazz that I can enjoy. As most probably know, he plays a lot of Jazz interpretations of Bach and Vivaldi and who knows what else.

I really like this music and the interpretations of classical in a more modern way. Can anyone suggest or point me to similar artists or ensembles that make this kind of music?

Thanks for any input, I'm just trying to broaden my horizons and make the most of a Spotify account.

I can recommend more Jacques with my favorite group setting being Satie and great solo piano work on Impressions of Chopin.

Very sophisticated, but Milt Jackson (vibes) makes them swing like bastards. Supernatural exchanges between Jackson and leader John Lewis (piano), with Percy Heath (bass) and Connie Kay (drums) comprising the greatest rhythm section ever, apart from Elvin Jones and every bass player he ever worked with.

Try their "Blues on Bach" if you want to pursue further the Jazz Sebastian Bach theme. "Fontessa", "Pyramid", "Lonely Woman" and "No Sun in Venice" are absolute classics (all Warners/Atlantic). Worth hunting down is "Odds Against Tomorrow" (EMI/Blue Note) but, alas!, long deleted.

"Space" and "Under the Jasmine Tree" (EMI/Apple, of all labels) are also fun.

There are heaps of live concerts too.

Warners need to box up absolutely everything they ever recorded.

Best,

Bob

Thank you all very much for the recommendations. I'll definitely look into these. The easy exploration of new music might just be the best thing about CA for me, right now..

Am currently listening to a flac 24 / 96 rip of "Blues on Bach" LP. Am enjoying it immensely. Also have "Odds Against Tomorrow" to try as well.
